At the end she actually offered her hand to shake his in a genuine way saying "well good luck". I feel sorry for Mrs Duffy, she looks like someone who genuinely cares, and I don't think that she is a bigot. I like the fact that she didn't really care that she was on camera even when interviewed afterwards! Not someone seeking attention!

If you watched the whole encounter, it seemed to most commentators to go okay, so Brown's over-reaction suggests he has a problem with anyone who disagrees with him. Cameron has had far worse encounters in the past week or so, with people (including one student) who seemed determined to provoke a reaction but he remained calm throughout.

@danj85 Ok she's not the worst, though still dodged between immigration, an undefined group grabbing benefits and any other complaint that popped into her head. However, Brown's main frustration wasn't around someone disagreeing per se, more how our twisted media would inevitably edit the footage - if the story hadn't been overtaken! Cameron's obviously better at smooth talking in public, but he'll have been just as hacked off whenever some random bozo has interrupted a choreographed visit.

OMG! If you needed anymore convincing that gordon brown is a two faced bully then there you go, on radio 2 he has his head in his hands when listening to the tape... the worrying thing is this man is so such a control freak that he wont let go of the power he has, his mind is bend on being priminister and will lie and cheat and steal his way back in... i am not saying any of the other parties are better or worse than labour however gordon brown has to go...people pls get rid of brown

I feel sorry for Brown. It's worse than when attention was drawn to him misspelling "apologise" in a letter to a family of a deceased British soldier. I don't think we should make too much of the mistakes of politicians - as though they are supposed to be as infallible as the image they try to convey.

@jayjaypen2 - it's the snobbish people in Anstruther and St Andrews encourage such private views. Haughty and intolerant of anyone not considered to reflect well on their position in life. Gordon Brown must appeal to such voters.

It's the head falling into his hands at 1.08 after he's tried to front it out for the first part of the interview - if gets me every time: genuinely laugh out load funny. The word "Busted" would appear apposite. One's mirth is only tempered by the realisation that this is the guy running the country!

Immigration is about numbers & resources available. It isnt about ethnicity or culture per se, because we already have those communities here, so when she singled out the Polish, she could have said Jews, Blacks, Latinos or Used the phrase Muslim. Gordon was absolutely right to call her a Bigot. Some may say thats Political correctness gone mad to take a stance, but Political Correctness stops people indulging in their bigotry, which unfairly hurts, humiliates the targets of such indiscretion.

@Wikkiter What the f**k is all the fuss about? Jesus, give the guy a break! Who hasn't left a public meeting and muttered rude things in private about people who were in the meeting. That's not two faced, that's just human. He's as entitled to his private opinion as much as anyone. It was a private conversation that has been leaked by some media scumbag, fuck all to do with the issues..

listen to his answers to the woman before he left "schools? yeh we like schools. immigration? yeh we'll do better. jobs? mm jobs are important"......Public sector cuts? "maybe, tough decisions to be made."
that is literally what it has been for 3 weeks, and the public will be no clearer in a weeks time.

this really annoys me...so what, that woman should just get over it and so should the media. Politicians do have a responsibility and a certain image to maintain but they are allowed to get angry and let some steam like the rest of us - shows they're human and just as susceptible to everyday emotions. What's interesting is that if it was a man, no-one would care, at least it definitely wouldn't make headline news! Once again I fear we're witnessing a female bias within the media world.
