  • One of the headlines at ZDnet read "Is Windows XP Too Good Of An OS?". It was perhaps the best OS that MS ever made. I was convinced that Vista would be the ruin of MS until Windows 7. I tip my hat.. :)

  • wdf is that keyboard at 2:28 i thought is was a new era xD

  • i still use ms dos and windows3.1 wdf is bill gates saying :D

  • c:\>exit

  • Thanks for making it so we can't play MS-DOS based games Bill! We appreciate it!

  • @DXSnakeEater dosbox?

  • @8D3319 P)fft, I know. But we didn't need third party software back then to use MS-DOS based applications, and that was nice.

  • @emersonhitech

i actuali have ubuntu on my laptop, and had it for around 2 years. but unlike you im not a fanboy.

  • @emersonhitech

sure it is. its a fact that flash performance is extremely poor compared to windows.

  • @emersonhitech

ahaha.. no. flash is really buggy and slow on linux.

  • @emersonhitech

how is youre flash running ?

  • LIKE A DOS

  • gates is a great man

  • geeky but nice nonetheless

  • This is the end of Windows. It's time for Ubuntu.

  • @GlasKoudeCola lol I use both fedora linux and windows, but you're kidding yourself if you think Microsoft will be usurped by desktop linux in the near future. As great as linux is, it has no market power (less than half of 1% for ubuntu), and that is the determining factor for what anybody (outside of power users) runs for a desktop operating system. Linux will always remain a "used but never seen" OS, IE: servers, and bastard versions of linux, like android.

  • Windows XP forever

  • BEST. OPERATING. SYSTEM. EVER. :D PERIOD XD Thumbs Up If You Miss It :'D

  • Looks like he really enjoyed his beer during this time.

  • DOS should have said, I'm afraid i can't do that,bill

  • MS DOS I SAY U HACK BILL GATES AND DELETE HIM AFTER HE SHUT U DOWN!!!

STEVE JOBS IN THE icloud ..RIP

  • C:\>EXIT

  • Open the pod bay doors, DOS.

  • Why can't Microsoft do cool launch presentations like this anymore? This is so much more cool than Ballmer running around on a stage.

  • WHY DID THEY STOP MS-DOS WHY!!!!

  • OMG HE KILLED DOS! You Bastard!

  • 1 person is using windows 3.1

  • YOU MURDERED MS-DOS >:(

  • @ThePichu7892 He murded dos with an Enter key! :0

  • windows 95 is a crummy operating system xD

  • I hate how people hate Bill Gates.I sense that he is a good man with a good soul.

  • @xan1242 Yeah that's why He openly pushes decreasing the worlds population with injections /vaccines-NICE!!!

  • Windows XP is the best

  • Windows is DOS. If you use a 32-bit system, hit Ctrl+R and type edit. You get the MS-DOS editor

  • @yoshielectronfan761 *facepalm*

only on 32 bit Windows and that is NTVDM,not DOS.There is no real/pure DOS in any NT based Windows. If you want pure DOS,get FreeDOS or download real MS-DOS and install it.

  • @xan1242 I have MS-DOS on a VM. Also, I meant that Windows runs on some required components of MS-DOS. cmd.exe = command.com = Modified DOS

    64-bit OS: no dos

  • @yoshielectronfan761 cmd.exe is present in 64-bit NT Windows, but cmd.exe is not command.com.Command.com is modified DOS shell made specifically for Windows' NTVDM.MSDOS is located at MSDOS.SYS (which is NTVDM in Windows) and since it is a 16-bit application,it does not support long file names (unless you hack in the driver for that). If you try to run for e.g. FreeDOS' command.com it'll freeze and if you run MS-DOS original command.com it'll say "Incorrect MS-DOS version".

  • Did he have any idea how much suffering he was about to cause? :-P

  • There is no DOS in any shape on current Windows PCs after XP. It's all the Windows NT Kernel and the NT FileSystem or NTFS. the command line is completely different with DOS being command.com and NT being cmd.exe. Nothing carried over.

  • I still run windows 3.1 in 2011

  • @aidenmacreadie hahahahahha xD hahahahaha xD hahashahaha XdDXXD

  • did he really shut down ms-dos?

  • @prokillersniper No, CMD is still around, DOS isnt dead. All computers have DOS.

  • @thengclan ahhhhhhh ok

  • @thengclan Not all computers. Mac's (Macintosh Computers) doesn't have disk operating system.

  • @birdhouse13579 I was speaking of windows computers. I am well aware of macintosh does not run on a text/DOS operating system.

  • @thengclan I believe that you knew that. Just next time try to express yourself better.

  • Some reminents of MSDOS is still in Windows 7!!!

  • @lctb51 Because Microsoft really doesn't change anything. They said it was an end of an era, but DOS is still there.

  • Linux FTW

  • @davejoshmom1 No I don't think that windows7 is an accident! I had a problem with vista each day, but I never had a problem with windows7. Windowsxp is really really great, but on the other hand it is a bit old!

  • @alexRIDER11 The difference is that DOS programs on NT (XP and such) runs an App, but there is no DOS below that. In 9x and earlier, DOS boots first, and DOS remains as part of the kernel.

  • @davejoshmom1 reporting me you little pathetic gayboy troll is well funny as y/t have got well pissed off with you lot hence no one gets banned....lol......epic fail troll bum boy!

  • windows xp started a revolution, vista was an accident and windows7 continued the revolution

  • @alexRIDER11 A revolution of what may I ask?

  • @alexRIDER11 and Windows 8 will be the next accident ;-)

  • @FlipidusX I think so too.

  • @FlipidusX

why would you say that ?

  • @Mastermind12358 i tested the developer Preview and i dont think that Microsoft will make any more big changes on the interface of Win8.

  • @alexRIDER11 7 is essentially the same as Vista under the hood.

  • @alexRIDER11 and Windows 8..?

  • @alexRIDER11 Than Windows 8 Yuck

  • @alexRIDER11 actually after service pack 1, vista wasn't that bad anymore..

  • My Friend Said MS-DOS Still Here In Any Windows PC's!

  • @tweetyaja

    Just as an Emulator.

  • 2:15

  • Look how William Gates II types.

  • I bet after Bill shutdown MS-DOS Pepole that were runing it was like What the heck happend??

  • It was a BAD IDEA to get rid of it. It makes it easier to remove Viruses Spyware Trojans etc.

  • @Brookedude9 but is much easyer to make them...

  • Bill Gates is less nerdy today!

  • windows 7 is still windows NT architecture similar to Windows Xp's. So even though windows 7 may take over the market share..xp is not an outdated OS by technology standards. Applications 3 years from now will still work on XP in most cases so MS desigend an architecture that has lasted for over 10 years. I still use Xp, quite fast and advanced

  • @2fast4uspartan One could actually say that the WinNT architechture, being older than XP, and being used in XP is an even "better" architechture, BUT, there is a time to leave old OSs.

  • @SwItScHbAcK92 Is your name MS-DOS?

  • NO, COMMAND PROMPT IS DOS, SO DOS NOT YET TO SAYING GOODBYE

  • @tweetyaja Command prompt is not DOS. Yes of course it has the DOS "interface", but it's not a operating systen and is missing ALOT of functions MS-DOS had.

  • is there any way too see this whole presentation somewhere? :s

  • wow !! was amazing !! one of the most exciting moments ever for people !! the 9/11 just happen and then windows xp !! everybody use windows xp because is the best opcion for any computer !! any system ! is so great :), i love that talking with DOS !

  • pretty soon the Windows XP era is gonna come to an end. because we are moving on to Windows 7 and Later Windows in the Near future.

  • @Btushinsky83 I actually read a few days ago windows xp might actually stay with us untill 2020 so thats 19 years xp is possibly going to be with us

  • @Btushinsky83 I agree. My new computer will BE WINDOWS 7, but XP is the best in my opinion. I'm still using it and no problems.

  • i'd say :

    windows 2000

    windows xp

    windows 7

    windows nt

    best os' from M$

  • @omid11 and windows 95 that started it ALL.

  • @omid11 You forgot Windows 98.

  • DOS ended for me with Windows 2000. That was a sweet operative system.
