@laurenclough2 I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble! Sometimes I just have to make sure to let my flat iron get hot enough. You may need to let it warm up for 15-20 minutes before you try to use it. Also, make sure you grab small sections one at a time. Hope that helps!

I've been 'crimping' my hair like that for years and have never had to use that many products. All I use is a very tiny amount of mouse for volume and then crimp (run the iron at the root several times to create lift!). Once I am done crimping I flip my head over and shake it with my hands. I get the same look without all that product build up on my hair. I pull it up at night in a pony on top my head then I can wear it again the next day.

@mel4me0404 Thanks for the comment! FYI - this isn't "crimping" technically. It is actually called "waving." Crimping is usually a lot tighter. Also, you don't have to use all the product, but my hair is very thick and doesn't hold curl/wave easily. If your hair does, feel free to eliminate the gel & some of the hairspray. However, using more product does make the look last longer & match the messy look of Kesha. Also, I don't recommend a ponytail overnight as it can cause hair breakage.

@lemonslemons2010 it really depends on which Kesha look you are going for. She has some looks that are more curly. This one is most like her video for Tik Tok....her more recent looks are more curled with a 2" barrel curling iron/hot rollers or larger. If you curl it with one of those, you could flip your hair and finger comb it, and then hairspray and it will look similar to her more recent style. However, that won't look this this particular style.

@subthischiz For straight hair like mine, they are necessary because they add a texture to your hair so that the style will hold longer and look messier. If you already have curly or really wavy hair, you will not need as much product to add texture to your hair.

@puppykitten41 Hey puppykitten41 - what kind of flat iron are you using? Your flat iron needs to get pretty hot for it to "wave" your naturally curly/wavy hair. That could be why - try holding the flat iron on your hair a little longer between each bend of the flat iron on each piece. You can check out my flat iron tips on my video "How To: Flat Iron Your Hair." That video is made for short hair, but I describe some of the tips for getting your hair to heat up and do what you want it to do.
