what do make me sad is those fucking assholes who keeps screming and claping every 2 seconds u fuckers dont deserve to be there listening to him, i hate u idiots!! love u grandpa!
I got to meet and sing with grandpa elliott this past weekend. He has been an insperation to me for awhile now and it was such an honor to get to talk to him one-on-one and get to know him. What a wonderful man he is.
Gave me chills, i think Grandpa Elliott is the man this song has been waiting for to sing. Now i must plan a trip to New Orleans to see the legend in person, and hopefully shake his hand.
This man moves my soul. This man IS soul. A gift from the heavens, a sightless angel. Thanks Gramps. Posted this on my Facebook and introduced you to about 300 new fans.
This literally brought tears to my eyes! (of course in a good way) I can never thank you enough for remaining true your heart and always playing music! You've inspired and made a 23yr old from Wisconsin incredibly happy with your singing and playing. Please continue, people LOVE to hear it!
Hello everyone This is Jermain Small, Son of Grandpa Elliott, Thank you all for all the Kind things said here. I've read every last comment to him. To answer the question about my fathers sight, It's true, he once played the roll of a blind man, while in trueth his vision was slowly deteriorating, a gift handed down from the pevious generations. Its very disrespectfull to play blind when your not, so for the record, it was not an act. My Pop Loves all of you..
I thank your for your honesty Jermain... I am a Peace Officer for my native people.. When times become tough & unbearable your Father's music gives me comfort that there is always Good in each of us no matter how hard we stray from the path..
hi Jermain, im Gary Thompson from Baton Rouge. I gotta meet your dad and jam with him, i play locally here with Chris leblanc we do a lot of blues. i know ur dad has hit the big time now but if u get a chance tell him we wanna meet him and hang out. thanks have a good day
Jermain, first came to to NO from Michigan in 1992(?) saw Grampa with Stoney then.. has always been our first mission to find him on visits ever since..Thrilled to see him on the Playing for Change video hope to be in NO in Nov...... will look for him then
@pressurelicker whether he can see or not, he shines enough that the rest of us can see his beauty, and the beauty of his creator. I love him, and the closest I've come to meeting him is in the playing for change videos. God bless, and keep jammin'.
What is truly amazing is that he's been playing that incredible rendition on the streets of the French Quarter for years for the dollars that tourist would drop in his basket. He's been a favorite of my family for years and always seek him out when we visit the Quarter. Everything he does is just as incredible!
Wow, good night! Way to go Grandpa, you've earned this musician's respect. I saw Playing for change originally on PBS what a great idea. Talent from around the world, pretty amazingly put together. Grandpa Elliot is for sure inspiring.
It's amazing that the harmonica is probably the least respected instrument there is. Most musicians rank them with the kazoo. It's so nice to see someone play it with the skill Grandpa does.
I knew Elliot in the late 80s-early 90s. His eyes were failing him then, so he most likely is 'legally blind'. It's sad that someone with as big a heart as his can't really see everyone who loves him...
I read on another video that he is legally blind. Maybe he can see shadows. I really don't know. I did see him walking through the venue and he was being assisted by someone. All I know is that he's a real sweetheart!!

Isn't only the way he sings or performs.... It's that tender smile at the end of the solo harmonica that hit very deep my heart.
Thank you Grandpa, you are more than a MUSICIAN.
