@KoreanProphet It seems to me that the mic's settings are not good enough. Usually this LOUD soft LOUD thing doesn't happen at their live performances, and Brent does this, because in the higher regions of his voice it's so damn loud and powerful, that it'd sound horrible if he kept the mic right before his mouth. I know that, I also have to take it away from my mouth a little bit, otherwise it doesn't sound good ;)

They are amazing. I believe Brent doesn't like HUGE crowds because mosh pits start, and I saw them a few years ago and some kids were moshing and they stopped playing the song to tell them 'hey look, if you're going to beat the fuck out of eachother we'll leave'

The Compression on his vocals is not his fault - it's television. Lots of compression before and after the actual vocal. Perhaps his stage monitor are PRE-compression.. He's not hearing the actual compression.

Brent has one of the finest voices in modern rock. Some of the guys sound a bit 'breaky' if you will, when they perform live, Brent pulls everything off amazingly.

These guys are great. And they totally didn't sell out which makes them even more awesome. The only thing that bugs me is the way Brent pulls the mic away from his face when he sings louder/higher. Makes it sound like a shady wireless device. Back in the day that was a good technique because it kept the volume constant and it reduced clipping, but nowadays we have fancy new COMPRESSORS that keep the sound even so you don't have to do that.
