  • Thanks for that mate :) 5/5

  • Was the Monaro homologated for the FIA GT rules because I've only ever seen it appear in the British GT Championship and it was a Second Tier vehicle... Just Curious.

  • the Monaro was built as a road car not a racer but with the Commodore links in it and that was the result the 427Cu Monaro

427 V8 was only used in the C5R vette and the 2 Monaros

  • Thanks for the Information. Appreciate It.

  • muhahaha, flying germans... go UWE!

  • damn i wish this came back

  • next year the FIA gt championship will be coming to Australia, lets hope they do the 24 hour race at bathurst as there was rumours back in 05 the the gt championship doing a bathurst 24hour.

  • Just read the updates for the GT's possibly arriving in Australia. Unfortunately, the bid for Australia to host one of the rounds for the new GT1 World Championship has fallen through... FIA removed it from the provisional Calender. Sorry to report it... What a damn shame.

  • @lene2die4 wronggggggg

  • Well thats my point of view and the opinion. Its also the opinion of many others including teams, spectators and more.

at least I had sweet revenge at the 12hr race where the mighty 'CV8' ran in its true guise and was swatted by just about everything on the track.

    LOL

  • There are a few points already made in this thread. It wasnt a prototype in any way. Just a hot rod. Lemans winning GT1 Corvette engine, altered suspension points, tubbed wheels, custom diff just to start with, in a car which was labelled as a CV8 by Holden marketing.

  • its such a shame that nobody credits this as brock's 10th win

  • BECAUSE IT ISN'T

  • when is the next 1?? is there gonna be another 1??

  • the answer, unfortunately, is no. the company who ran the 24hr went under, thus no more bathurst 24 hr,which is a shame :(

  • The company didnt go under as the financer is worth over 120mil and still is. There is more to why it didnt run but lm not able to release information. One thing I can say is the Euro teams were and still are not happy about the monaro due to the unfair advantage it had along with labelling it a CV8.

They did build FIA aproved Monaro's for the British GT championship and they were at the bottom of the table every time and quietly faded away.

Great Aussie car but no true supercar.

  • I was up in bathurst at the 24 hour that year it was fucking great its just a shame grm cheated cause there wasn't 200 monaros in production at the time if you don't beleive me read the rule book

  • They didn't cheat, they entered them as prototypes.

  • Yes monaros were well built but they did not meet any real comparitive regulation as everyone else did. If they had run as true holomogated cars as everyone else was then the race would have been a fair event and could very be still be happening.

  • I remember watching the longer highlights on Motors TV in the UK on Boxing Day. What a great way to avoid talking to the family! :) Great race, sexy Monaros.
