promised land is a great album, for me, i think this was a very natural progression for queensryche to do an album like this, very dark, atmospheric album. people say that p.l. wasn't a success, maybe not compared to empire, but it still did something like 2 million copies in the u.s., not bad considering it was released in the thick of the grunge scene!
Just saw them not long ago for their American Soldier tour. They are as good today as anytime in their history. I've been listening to them since their first EP came out. Promised Land was so under rated. I loved every song on PL. They have had their ups and downs in their music but one thing remains. They have their place in music history and I for one plan on keeping their music alive. I hope that you as a fan will do so too. QUEENSRYCHE WILL ALWAYS RULE!!
I don't know of any one dvd out there that would have them all, There are several DVDs and VHS out there, from their live concert in Japan, to Mindcrime at the Moore... I would suggest you go to their website, they have everything available in their store. Including some solo work.
There is one (not sure if it's just on VHS) called Building Empires that has all their videos through the Empire album, but it just wouldn't include this and the other Promised Land videos.
Promised Land is, IMO, a great album. I liked it better than Empire-much darker and stranger-a bit reminscent of Rage for Order. They seemed to have expanded upon the cyberpunk themes of that album without rehashing it-which they never do anyway. Queensryche is always fresh-one of the things I love about 'em.
I'd have to agree with your comment, I've always considered Promised Land their best and Rage For Order about even with Mindcrime. Over the years I have gotten to like Q2K a lot also, by far their best without DeGarmo, in my humble opinion.
I know it's been a while since you commented but I'd have to say that Q2K has been moved aside for a couple of other albums that are minus Chris DeGarmo. I do agree that it is a great work. Kelly Gray is very talented. But alas he left too. They have another guy that looks like he's in his mid 20's. He's a great guitarist. Check out American Soldier. Great album.
If you didn't know, Michael Wilton did all the guitars on American Soldier, and the new guitarist is married to Geoff's daughter. The album is great, but the new guitarist had nothing to do with it.
Geoff Tate, they still make music - Chris Degarmo,, this was a great album,,, got shit on cause they didn't do what AC/DC does... release the same shit... This wasn't Empire 2.. it was cooler.
good God i hate that freakin backwards version!!!!1!

What makes you think they are oriental? Guess you didn't look close enough. LOL

None of them are. When you get the chance check out some of their stuff from back in the 80's and 90's. That should answer your question.

Is there any DVD out there which contains all Queensryche music dvds? They have to release that kind of dvd soon!
