Very informative video about a defensive king. This guy would be a great announcer. HBO is gonna watch this and you'll never hear from him again lol..
people are now talking how great is floyd after what happened to pacquiao on nov.12. Had Pac KOed Marquez, we shouldn't hear much of floyd's heavenly skills today.
uncle roger used the pull counter...a few others. nobody uses it as effectively as floyd. he is the best defensive fighter of all time. name one that is better...not sweet pea.
@alfatihbaldo ...ok..good one. i can handle an opinion that makes sense...well played my man. im going with...pep and mayweather probably best at around 130-135...if they fought tomorrow...i would bet the house on mayweather...he would kick the shit out of willie pep, his package is way too sophisticated. pep, a great defensive fighter took shots...its a big deal when mayweather get hit..amazing.
Krause is talking about Floyd's pull counter. There's an excellent 0.59 sec clip of Floyd doing exclusively that on youtube. I've seen Ali do it in his prime, particularly in the Cleveland Williams fight, and Roy Jones used to do it as well. Obviously you need timing and speed, but you also need long arms. Mayweather's arms from the shoulder to the fist are 26 inches, which is extremely long for someone 5'8".
@Melo15xSTAT1 given the opponent...you have to go corrales...moving up in weight to fight the giant corrales at 130..and then mopping the ring w his ass....also the beating he put on gatti was brutal.
Part of what makes FMJ so special is only he can master the shoulder roll. Even Floyd Sr couldn't reach this milestone. James Toney is very good with the Philly Shell but I wouldn't call him a master. We've seen a number of guys who have used and are still using the shoulder roll but they can never make it work as effectively as Floyd can.
Ive done the pull counter many times in sparring, its only hard if you use upperbody movement. All floyed does is go from his rear toe to his heel. I find it really easy to pull off, i see people do it quite a bit. I'm not bragging, im not that good or fast, im just saying it isnt that hard really. VERY effective though. Easy to land if you can do it too. I reccomend anybody to try it out. Learn to half step back to counter a jab first.
MARQUEZ CAMP WANTED pac camp to take the random testing and they refused so what did Marquez do? Got Alex Hernandez who is linked to Balco and a big name in the Steroid world to mix him up some supplements. Marquez went down in 04 and 08, but stood in front of Manny and beat him, period. MANNY WONT TAKE NO TEST FOR FLOYD. FLOYD WILL DESTROY HIM if he takes the test.TEAM PACQUIAO IS AT THE BEGINNING STAGE OF COLLAPSING I BET SOME OF THE GUYS IN PACQUIAO'S ENTOURAGE ARE SECRETLY HAPPy!
That is one of Mayweather's baddest eye candy moves where he pulls away from his opponents jab and comes back over the top with a right...He did it to Mosley several times..I hit rewind on that particular move countless times .. his reflexes are amazing..Glad he mentioned that move on this video..
@sig310 Yeah Ali used that in his fights against Cleveland Williams, Ernie Terrel, Floyd Patterson, 2nd Liston fight, the Ron Lyle fight, Foreman fight, and the Shavers fight. He created that move and he was super fast in doing it aswell. Mayweather is probably quicker at doing it because he is very small compared to Ali but nice to point to make. The Greatest Fighter of All Times was using that move first!
Good video. Precision points made about Mayweather's boxing style. Actually gave me a different outlook on Flyod's technical side of boxing. Thanks for sharing.
Why is it that white guys aren't so good when it comes to boxing, but they're very knoledgeable about skills and make great trainers. I mean, not only Freddie Roach, But I've seen a lot of them give great analisis.
I think culturally boxing has just become a much more popular sport to practice in lower income communities and the people you usually see in that demographic aren't white. At least not the majority. Also, I think with sports like this that don't require a lot of money to participate, those from lower income areas tend to go at it harder and be hungrier.
JMM's backing up so much, and not necessarily jumping on Manny, took away that right hook a bit... and the lateral movement, over to the left, kept Manny reaching across and stretching with that straight left. JMM forced Manny to turn into a one two puncher... he had to try to catch JMM with speed... jab jab LEFT HAND... or left leads of movement, he took Manny's combo speed from him just by isolating him with that movement.
Yeah this was one of the best videos.. just to give a glimpse into fighters styles, that's the funniest thing for me about being a fight fan. How a fighter reacts to what and why. Like Manny Pacquiao. Something he likes to do, is get you walking to him, he'll bounce at u, not to get you to back up, but to make you A. Curl (then he jumps you) or B. To get you to attack and try to step in, he then bounces back and launches that fast right hook, EVERY TIME. One reason JMM gave him issue.
Amazing video Elie, you should organise these and compile them into sets. You've got some great content, more than some of the more popular 'learn boxing' channels.
This guy knows his shit. A lot of people have no idea how great Floyd's skills are because they don't understand what he's doing. Once you see these kind of videos you can appreciate his skills a lot better. Great vid Elie.
I give this an A+ ...and I take back my thumb down... because, he purely knows his sh*t technically. He's noted the change, and the pull counters. very Reflexive fighter. The speed thing is overrated... great timing is the thing. Timing is hard to master in boxing. And yes... his counters and such is what really makes his defense so great.... then he leads well, and that IS when he starts to hurt you. He led early against Ortiz... and Victims eye showed evidence after 4 rounds.
Thumbs down before watching the video, just because the title is misleading. 'Move like Mayweather in the ring' 99% of champions can't do that. so I know this is gonna be stupid.
@ESNEWS you're 100% correct. I was completely wrong. Sir Krause is very knowledgeable, he didn't have this ABC breakdown, he was really on point about it.
using the shoulder roll is pointless unless your super fast
