@iJOPPY its harder to detandle with shampoo, cause the alkaline in shampoo lifts the hair cuticles and that what causes the tangles, conditioner then seals the cuticlles again...so your better off conbing when conditioner is in your hair
So was that shampoo in your hair while you were detangling it?
I've been growing my hair out for about 2 years now and I'm not satisfied with the length whatsoever. I've had it cut quite a few times so that's most likely the reason why it's not very long.
Also...Is it just me or are afros easier to style/de-tangle when they have more length?
@SoleyNSilent yes the shampoo was in the hair while detangling ;-)
nope the afro gets more difficult to deal with when long believe me ;-(..but stilll no that hard at all...good luck on your journey, have any question please ask
@UtubeHairCare Im currently trying a the 'water only' hair cleansing method. I feel using conditioner and shampoo isn't very healthy for your hair (or even the user).
I also read on a website that not using shampoos and conditioners helps your hair promote more oil.
I remember one time...going awhile without using shampoo and conditioner and I noticed a change. My hair felt more soft and had a natural shine to it.
@SoleyNSilent start from the back in small sections and slowly work your way towards the front, this work well for me, i have a detangling video 101, detangling works better when you have some conditioner in your hair, it gives the hair slip and seals the cutlicles
@UtubeHairCare i dont use a brush. When i first started washing my natural hair i would use a wide tooth comb, then I tried finger detangling. Both methods ended with the same result breakage. My hair sheds alot, even when i was relaxed it would shed soo much, but after actually looking at the hair in the comb and seeing that most of the hairs had the root in the them, i knew it had to be breakage. Is there any products that u reccomend , or any other methods?
@neneluv18 one lady had a deficency of iron, when she started taking her iron, she noticed the shedd was decrease dramatically, hope your taking a multi vitamin?
I want to get there... where there's only one strand of hair in my comb... thanks for the informative info.. I will remember that as I begin my regimen
@si1verm0thTimneh African Grey parrot, his name is Jake, and he's a very good talker, im just glad he's quiet when i do my videos, but when im on the phone it's a different, people on the other line think i have a house full of kids!! lol
@purplec16 when this hair gets longer, it will give me a challenge, but i think i will switch to creme of nature detangling shampoo when it does, so do you wash with shampoo i have another video for you
watched it!!!! lol, wow i love that comb was looking for one like that but i may break it neways so i'll stick w/ plastic...i cant w8 to cut my hair!!!!!! im transitioning cutting next july!!!!!!
Actually detangling your hair while shampooing is a great idea if you're using a conditioning shampoo. The conditioner will fill and smooth the cuticle making it easier to detangle just before styling. Since you will have gotten most of the loose hair out before it has a chance to tangle.
@MultiCulturalBeauty yeah creme of nature conditioning shampoo will most likely be the shampoo of choice when the hair gets lots longer, great detangling shampoo
So i just went to go see for colored girls and im watching the movie thinking i swear i know someone that looks just like Thandie Newton one of the actress's in the movie, come to find out you were the person that i was comparing her to lol
@shellz2008212 how is it, you gotta let me know, its not in canada at all, it mat not even come here, boooo!! ive been getting mz newton a lot lately, cant say i mind at all
@anique0320 the name i dont know, ive had this comb for a while , but whenever i get back to the same beauty supply store i'll let you know..but it is a great comb, kinds like a really big pick comb
your hair is so nice! and oh believe me the detangling will get harder, i am at that stage where i hate washing my hair cos i have to detangle it!!and i have to do it in sections now, i just want to cut it short again!
@louloumatou im thinking of giving cream of nature a sot then, the detangling one,but i worry about that too, but when i get there another tutorial will follow, how your beautiful max??
@UtubeHairCare i love the creme of nature shampoo, and everyone i know who's used it loves it too! Max is doing well, growing up fast, has bags of energy so he is keeping me well busy!! :) xx
Loreal has a sulfate free shampoo now the Loreal Ever Strong line and Loreal Ever Pure line for colored/dyed hair. I plan on trying one of those to see how it works. I usually just detangle with my fingers a little bit.
@MzLimeLight yeah i may try those one day, but with the hard water that i have shampoos with no sulphate, gets my hair in a mad tangle, believe it or not, so the sulphate shampoos work for me, but i may give them a shot to see if they better than the one ive tried in the past
@tamoniva12 yeah me too, Nov 21 2009, was my last relaxer, and i made through the first year yeah!!!!!, and a new year begins, thanks for your comment
Thanks for this tutorial, I'm amazed how little hair you lost. I'm probably not detangling my hair enough 'cause I do use a conditioner. But, anyhow, I'm glad I found you so I will keep watching for tips. :-)
You take real good care of your hair. When I went natural I lost so much hair and my hair stayed dry. But when I went back to my relaxer I have hardly any hair that comes out, strange. Lol
@ShereeW1 there are many factors to that, and i hopefully can get to them all, with videos, i know how to avoid these so i would have to deliberately cause my ends to tangle and show in a video the reason of this and what i do to untangle these ends, so keep watching
I detangle my hair with shampoo in also. It just makes it easier.

@SoleyNSilent how long have you been doing this?, and you end?....no tangles at all. let me know
UtubeHairCare 8 months ago
@UtubeHairCare Well the first time I did it...I don't really remember.
But I just started this a couple of days ago. I have a notice a huge difference.
For one, the texture is a bit more defined. It seems like shampoo/conditioner just de-texterized it or something.
It also feels softer because I believe it will absorb the oils I put in more easier + the natural oil it produces on it's own.
As far as actually cleaning it...I use a bristle brush. There are natural ways to scent as well.
SoleyNSilent 8 months ago
@SoleyNSilent hey if its working for you....thats great but pay attention all the small changes in behavior your hair makes
UtubeHairCare 8 months ago
@UtubeHairCare Thank you. That's what I have been doing.
It's working great so far but I'm still having trouble with detangling. Some are saying to detangle while it's wet.
Does that mean when it's drenched? Or just damp?
Also, what do you do if your hair isn't long enough to put in 4 sections?
SoleyNSilent 8 months ago
@SoleyNSilent start from the back in small sections and slowly work your way towards the front, this work well for me, i have a detangling video 101, detangling works better when you have some conditioner in your hair, it gives the hair slip and seals the cutlicles
