  • Its weird that the guy was shaking when drawing the recurve instead of drawing the compound. Compounds with hard cams take alot more effort to draw than a similarly weighted recurve in my opinion.

  • All i heard was blah blah blah net, blah blah blah net, blah blah blah net netty net net net.

  • ok ok I get it thanks everyone, your comments and this video actually helped me decide on which bow to select and my choice is both. the recurve is raw and brings out the user's inner talents to accomplish precision and the compound refines inner talent and co operates with the user to achieve precision they both will give me exactly what I need to be great archer

  • i noticed while using the recurve bow he was shaking

i want to get into archery and use a recurve bow but i want to know all there is to know

is it normal that he was shaking with the recurve or what?

  • varnlestoff wel thought man ! finally someone that really understands the nature of the compound and of the recurve!. i have one recurve bow and also a compound! i practice with both and i would recommend if u r really patient and perseverant and love a challenge get a recurve but if u want inmidiate results get a compound!although it is much more rewarding to use a recurve, more insctinctive, back to basics! i personally enjoy both of the old good fashion bow and the modern compound too!

  • I like both, not sure why people are either or.... It's all fun!

  • Compound = ezmode. Good for efficiency and goal oriented hunting. But as I like to say, it's 50% mechanics, 50% skill. Recurve may be more simplistic but the difficulty level of approach and shot is far higher. 100% skill. But you better be amazing with it or you won't get clean kills.

  • Don't try to show others that campounds are better than recurves or longbows. You can't compare. But we all are archers. We are one groupe. Don't battle. Don't be a disgrace to archery. We must learn from one another!! Look: I shoot recurve. My teacher is a campound. I learn so much from him. He is great. Even if he is uses a campound and I use a recurve. We both are archers.

  • Compounds are not even bows, so they can't be compared properly. Traditional bows use the archer to bend the limbs of the bow, compounds rely on pulleys and levers. Not to mention sites, stabilizers, mechanical releases, etc. One has been around for 40,000 years, the other since 1966. I cannot even call a compound a bow, they are just compounds. It is sad how compounds are soiling archery. They need to be in a separate category from bows.

  • @EthanJM Agree, the compunde is maybe ''better'' in performance. But it's a lot more fun in a recurve.

  • @MrSverremm Yeah, I prefer more natural input. I prefer personal skills to mechanical handicaps. It's a huge insult for a compound hunter to be outdone by recurve archery, and really makes a contrast in skill level.

  • @EthanJM i am new to archery - but I would never train with a compound bow - they look very ugly, esthetically crippled. If you want a high tech killer weapon buy a gun. Compound-Bows are for rednecks ;-)

  • @EthanJM so high precision sniper rifles cant be called guns because muskets were guns.

  • @deckoland That is a pretty stupid comparison. They both shoot in very much the same way, except one is fired with a contained casing and bullet and the other is all loaded in the muzzle. Compounds do not rely so much on "bowing", hence the name bow.

  • @EthanJM : haa , very well said !!!!! compound is no fun .

  • @EthanJM That is like saying a machine gun is not a gun and is just a machine.

  • @ChristX1337 No, all guns have the same fundamental similarity that makes them guns, an explosive charge, a projectile, and source of ignition. Or you could even say expanding gas pushing a projectile down a barrel. Compounds and traditional bows operate much the same, but don't function the same to achieve results, and it is all in the name itself, "bow". One stores it's energy in limbs via bowing, the other is a machine with levers and pulleys.

  • @ChristX1337 he speaks with some reason though.

  • @EthanJM as much as i'm inclined to agree, since I shoot traditional english warbows, I have to disagree - a bow is a bow in my books, i don't think this is soiling archery at all. It's just an advance in technology in that particular field

  • @EthanJM Why are you such a technology hater. Just like everything on the planet, bows technology is ever increasing. So much to form a new species. Do you drive a car with an automatic transmission? If yes then theres an analogy for the same issue. Auto hasn't "soiled" manual transmission. Compound hasn't soiled traditional. Technology has only given us more options and opportunity to exceed limits archery never thought it'd reach. Open your mind man.

  • @goordo27 Transmissions can't compare for this topic, but no I don't like automatics, I drive stick. As for the bows and compounds, they are two different things, compounds are operated a lot like bows, but they are so fundamentally different that they are more of a new invention altogether than just a modern bow. If it doesn't store its energy from "bowing", how can it be a "bow"? Crossbows share more similarity to bows than compounds, but are operated differently.

  • Very interesting video that compoundbow was awesome.

  • I´m hiperfan of Predator bows!! Go Ron!! I have a Predator Hunter and in a sort time i want to buy my first Predator Custom in macassar eboni black and white and bamboo limbs ended in clear glass... a dream!!!

  • I don't know where these people get their info, but you want to hold your draw for as little an ammount of time as possible whylst shooting traditionaly, and, ogostaboy, a good, well tillered heavy longbow will shoot a much heavier arrow at almost the same speed as any compound device-and what happens when your string on that compound thingy breaks out in the woods???.........

  • @petrosspetrosgali it wont. :)

  • @petrosspetrosgali Hey dude. I have been shooting recurves for years in an archery club, competed in countless competetions. Drawing and holding or drawing and then instantly releasing is a personal preference. I cant hit shit when i draw and instantly release, i have to draw, hold and then release to hit my target. You cant say one or the other is the "right way" to handle a trad. bow. Sorry bout bad grammer, im danish.

  • that doesnt matter

  • traditional is a lot of fun but the power of the compound is unmatched.
