alright thanks for all the info! do you know if someone becomes a ranger if they can tryout for delta? or do they need ot become a SF soldie first? i have heard many different ways of how it works
@csakal18 You become an infantryman then Airborne school then ranger school you would have to pass the Q coarse and join SF you would most likly serve two years to get experiance at the ranger level before getting to even try for sf only 1 in 5 people that apply to the military even get in the door past criminal behavior, drug use or injuries disqualify alot of people. If you pass jump school your already in top 10% Ranger school is a leadership coarse but the ranger tab club is a mark of status
@sass225 thanks i have another question if know it : if i take the asvab test and i dont get a gt score of 105 can i take the test while i am in the marines or can i only take it while i am off duty
@theman92490 You take it before you go in after your in you dont need asvab but you could get high marks in infantry ait get some experance and apply for reconassance school
im planning to try out for either the Navy SEALs or MARSOC when i am out of highschool, im wondering which would you join (out of all special ops)? im trying to get some other perspectives, thanks!
@csakal18 Now that's the tough part. What grade are you in? Right now SEALs are overloaded with prospects making it impossible to join unless you join with the SEAL Challenge, MARSOC however is having a 40% increase by 2013(14?) making it really easy to join. They also do ENTIRELY different things, so you might want to explain what you intend to do in SOCOM.
@yrabeiro Im a freshman in highschool, im not saying im an athletic beast but im very fit for my age... i meet all the minimum PST standards and am a fair amount above afew of the standards, im using the next four years to prepare myself even better, and special ops appeal to me because i want to do things nobody hears about, stealthy stuff and plenty of parachuting that seems like on of the coolest aspects to me.
@csakal18 I recommend waiting then. You're not even in the DEP yet and already expect SOCOM. Trust me, most people can't even join the military (1 in 5 according to a report in 2009 and standards have increased since then). I've seen alot of military hopefuls walk into a recruitment office or MEPS and be told "You're not good enough." because they have flat feet or had childhood asthma. You need a waiver for nearly everything including allergies and arthritis. You have a 50% of waiver
@csakal18 There's also the intelligence portion of the ASVAB. Lots of military hopefuls are told they aren't smart enough to join. Then there are the kids who have some sort of history that stops them from getting the mandatory Secret security clearance such as a history with drugs, bad credit, or therapy sessions. That's before they even start to look at you physically or give a chance to try out.
@csakal18 SOCOM has the smartest, fittest, strongest individuals in the entire US Military and they can afford to be picky in selection. I'd say give it a while, maybe by the time you graduate high school you won't even want to join anymore. But if you're 100% this is what you want then you better start living a clean life. Any stupid mistake you make in high school WILL come around to bite you and possibly even disqualify you from military service.
@yrabeiro alright well i am sure its what i want to do, i have done tons of research and i love working out, anything physical. and i am pretty smart i hav a 3.6 right now and have no disabilities (asthma, scoliosis, etc) and havent ever done drugs or have any criminal record. im hoping to keep it that way so i can join.
@csakal18 you could do plenty of parachuting in 82nd airborne. I suggest you join the reserves between your junior and senior year. that way if you dont like the military as much as you thought you would your not in fulltime. also you could go to college while serving in reseves and become a officer by the time your 22.
@sass225 great idea. I should have clarified by parachuting i mean like freefall HALO and HAHO jumps, which i dont believe the 82nd airborn does. plus they dont get to preform the missions that nobody hears about that appeal to me so much when it comes to special ops. 82nd airborne also isnt special ops (or atleast from what i know and based on research)
@csakal18 Many dont make it through airborne school which you would have to pass to go to ranger school and do well there get two years experiance and then get to takr the q coarse you pass that then your a SF team member each of thouse steps is an achievment but you want really hard job look up airforce parajumper the pjs are trained to be fighting paramedics they fast rope or even jump in to save shot down pilots
@csakal18 knowing what I do now I enjoyed training others and got along well with folks from difernt cultures SF [green berets] traditionaly are the men who got to a country and advise and train indiginous forces to fight with marsoc if you dont pass your still a marine but with seals you go back to the fleet you might not ever handel a rifle
@csakal18 I wish you luck $150,000.00 per trooper/Sailor/marine/airman when you figure in all the cost's of training, drill instructors, schools and pay for all involved is what just basic training and ait cost the government all marsoc, seals.rangers,sf are airborne qualified if you passed ether you would be in 1% of warriors
@MMAMarinecore3 lol, ure prbably a cod boy, look at your name, and if you arent and you are som sort of us soldier, you prove my point. i never said they werent honorable or anything like dat but i said they were cheesy.
The facilities are all different, but many of the initial swim qualifications are similar. Special schools such as SERE, Combat Diver, and Jump Schools are often run from joint facilities. FYI, the pools are all 50 meters long. ;)
many of these selection test are similar between episode , do they share training facilities and instructor , or each one have their own bigger then olympic pool ?
I JUST WANT TO SAY U ALL ARE GIFTED AND U MOST BE PROUD AND BLESSED BECAUSE U ARE PART OF A VERY LIMITED GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO CAN DO WHAT U ARE DOING,MUST HAVE BEEN VERY TOUGH ON ALL OF YOU,BUT BEING THE BEST OF "US MARINE RECON" WAS ALL WORTH IT!!!!,I AM FROM MEXICO,LIVE IN MEXICO,AND I WISH WE COULD HAVE AT LEAST ONE MAN,WITH YOUR SKILLS,COURAGE AND LOVE FOR YOUR COUNTRY...I LOVE YOU ALL AND GOD KEEP U ALL SAFE ALWAYS...
