  • i see some of the similar post moves between Big Game and Mike.. sweet video !

  • SHOWTIME

  • quickest first step in nba history

  • Cool vid. Great choice of music. Love the pure old-school theme!

  • Your right about Terry Cummings because he just wasn't as explosive as Worthy. Plus imo he was a power forward, especially by today's standards. Nique though could go out their and drop 30 to 40 on the Pistons like Worthy did. Though he would take alot of shot's to do it.

  • Replace Worthy with say Dominique Wilkins or Terry Cummings and the Lakers don't win the 1988 title. Dude was unstoppable against the Pistons, and Detroit is one of the greatest defensive teams in history.

  • Kareem Magic and WORTHY boy they had the best names back then.

  • man he had a great handle

  • I never understood why Worthy did not get more publicity and attention. He was so HUGE for Carolina and the Lakers. The guy was money.

  • This guy was drafted 1st by LA,after Lakers won the championship in 82,and he had the nerve to call Lebron a quitter, lol, that's like Lebron getting drafted to the Spurs, and playing with Duncan,Parker,Ginobli, lol NBA is so rigged

  • @Zeke4TV Well If you take either Ginobili or Parker away, you're about right. I'm pretty sure it was from a trade some years back with Utah or something. I love the Spurs, and their big three, but they had a similar situation. They were a top team in the west but tanked their season because David Robinson was injured so they could get a shot at the 1st pick.

  • At 3:30 when he pulls the baseline and dunks it... dude was the baddest, almost unstoppable. Couldn't drag me from the games of the 80's, especially when it was the Lakers vs Celtics, that was the ultimate in basketball, two stacked teams dukin' it out for a championship. o.O

  • Big game James was taking care of business!

  • The Lakers are the best franchise of all sports! We are more than a basketball team..

  • what is the name of the song?

  • @gilsonw10 Pleasure Principle by Janet Jackson

  • @TheLegendfamily, you are right. I totally forgot the great Elgin Baylor. Among the best Laker players ever.

And don't forget George Milkan. The first basketball superstar of the game. Even though Milkan never played for L.A., he's still a Laker legend.

I'm sure I left a few other Lakers out... it just that there have been so many great players on the team.

  • @fierrote As great as Elgin Baylor was (an OUTSTANDING rebounder for a small forward), he has NO rings. I put Worthy ahead of Baylor. In big games, few were ever better than Big Game James.

  • @aktxag, totally agree with you. He is in my top 5 favorite Lakers of all-time.

  • @aktxag He has 3 rings

  • Some of the greates basketball players of all-time have worn the Lakers uniform.

  • Magic Worthy Kareem Kobe Wilt Shaqille J. West Darell Dixon Cooper P. Gasol McAdoo J. Wilkes... etc.
  • @fierrote: I know that you're not making a complete list, but don't forget Elgin Baylor as a Laker great.

  • @fierrote Don't forget Gail Goodrich, Norm Nixon, Jamaal Wilkes, and Happy Hairston. Also, lets not forget the Minneapolis Lakers of George Mikan, Vern Mikkleson, Jim Pollard and Slater Martin.

  • James Worthy was one of the greatest small forwards in the history of the game. He was such a smooth player... the finger rolls, the drives to the basket, powerful dunks... oh man!

Big James Worthy and the rest of the Showtime Lakers were such fun to watch.

Some of the greates basketball players of all-time have worn the Lakers uniform.

  • If I had to pick a starting five to play a game with the FATE OF THE WORLD at stake, Big Game James is my Small Forward.

  • Bird and Wilkens would do a better job ;)

  • BLASPHEMY!! Actually, in all fairness, I'd start Kobe at SF.....

  • No Kobe! Don't diggs him. And he is a SG!

The starting 5 for THE FATE OF THE WORLD game:

    PG: Magic

    SG: Jordan

    SF: Bird

    PF: Barkley

    C: Kareem

  • I've agonised over Bird at SF, and great as he is, he wasn't versatile or fast enough on D against other SF's...I imagine Magic running the break with Jordan and Bryant , then PF I'd go with Tim Duncan, and Kareem. I require everyone to have won a ring...sorry Barkley ;-)

  • True about Bird. But Bird got a better basketball mind then Bryant. A much deeoper understanding of basketball.

NO TIM DUCNAN! Barkley kicks Tims cornball ass all day long! Tim is good but he plays boring basketball. Barkley is better and more fun to watch.

  • I don't trust Barkley with the fate of the world at stake! haha

  • I do! Basketball has got to be good looking and winning. For me its not basketball if it is just wining. Tim Duncan and the Spurps... GET'S THE GASFACE!

And yo! Barkley kicked ass in the 92 olympics!

  • Well, if I had Kareem ( a touch soft ) I might be persuaded to take Barkley as the 'enforcer'...but Bird can come off my bench, that's final! :-) He doesn't make basketball "look good" like Kobe, and #24 is matching up in the post these days against other small forwards and punishing them...

  • True, Bird plays less goodlooking.

Ok, Bird on the bench. But no Tim Duncan on the team!

    Other players on the bench.

    PG: Isiah Thomas

    SG: Clyde Drexler

    SF: Bird

    PF: Karl Malone.

C: Wilt, Shaq Robinson or Ewing. (It's a though one!)

    John Stockton and Dominque Wilkens.

  • 0:17. two of the greatest basketball legends :)

  • James Worthy was so underrated as a player. A class act throughout his career but a big time supper star.

  • I like Worthy - those Doctor J like finger rolls and dunks, he was the real deal.

  • Like ive said before, if I were looking for a small forward to start a team with, Big Game would be the man I wanted..

  • The most underrated Laker of all time.

  • @2008sALINAs I don't think so. George Mikan and Elgin Baylor are.

  • oh man - he moves like water. And uses both hands equally well. Smooth finger rolls too.

  • didnt the lakers also retire horrys number?

  • Horry has not retired so I don't believe so.

  • well it ws becuase I remember them presenting horrys jersey at one point during a lakers-spurs game. and horry came up and had an applause.

  • Could palm the ball like a grapefruit! Prototypical SF right there, folks.

  • What a finger roll!

  • What a finger roll!

    What a show!

    I love it.

  • big game james!

  • wots goin on bro. i love it. a james and janet classic. keep it up...ur homie
