@olipippocinque Was Barco standard 6th Comma Meantone such as Silbermann? If so the Padgham description of it (in The Well Tempered Organ) suggests similar effects to the temperament that we are using here . . .
@latribe You wouldn't happen to have a more exact description of the tuning would you? I know Bach devised a tuning system but there is a bit of a dispute behind the particulars.
@resonantdave Hi! When Adolfo has done a recording I will be more forthcoming about the exact temperament in use here . . . but it contains at least 7 perfect fifths and very sweet thirds in F C and G
Hi Latribe, thanks for your interest, I also tune for 30 years now, and waited around 15 before a concert tuners showed me what was differnt when the projection of tone( what I call attack) is tuned - then I tuned better for 15 years and only lately I met avery good tuner that have understood all from the evening of ET to the strenghening of tone via the tuning pin. Indeed not easy by mail but I'll try to make videos. Would be nice to meet you anywhere !
close unissons, latribe, no gestion of the attack energy (projection), the pianist is greatly helped when the unissons are tuned with a nice coupling of doublets , arournd the center string for instance. it provide him more control on tone.
That said, difficult to hear that aspect of unisons on a video, and also on a Bechstein, which have a very immediate tone generally speaking. I feel it with the energy (dynamic too much at the surface, not deep enough)
@Pianotec Hi! I am very interested in your comments but don't fully understand them and would love to meet you if ever you come to England. In a quarter century of tuning this piano I have always aimed for the three strings to be tuned to exact unisons as it achieves more power to the instrument, like a laser. But tune a Steinway or Bosendorfer like this and they are too powerful.
I love Barca temperament for F Chopin .

@olipippocinque Barca is new to me . . . ! What are the principle features of it? What is it like or based on?

Could speak more about what temperament was used for this recording? Is it a well-temperament? Or a meantone?
GreggJohns 1 year ago
@GreggJohns Hi! It's a well temperament slightly less strong than Kirnberger III and near to Werkmeister

@latribe was this tuned with a special tuner? or by ear-fifths? or what other way?
