No-one keeps an eye on these guys - whether regulators, shareholders (individual or institutional), non exec directors ... this guy was just doing what all corporations do to a greater or lesser extent - see how far they can go without breaking the law and/or getting caught. Never make the mistake that the crimes of ENRON were NOT all about KEN LAY and his overleaning greed and pride. Lay is at the CORE of it all. He hired Fastow and Skilling to DO what they were told to do. Lay was directly involved with major crimes beginning in 1985 but because he was highly connected in the GOP he was able to get away with it. He rewarded his political allies by major support of vast sums of ENRON money. He bragged of raising $110,000,000.00 for BUSH in 2000.

Also the Medical Examiners office that reported it a suicide has had repeated credibility issues and recently lost it's accreditation for chronic errors in many criminal cases.

Enron is a good example of what happens when auditors fail to do their jobs properly. There are a number of banks who are just as vulnerable because the figures cannot be trusted. Neil Coulbeck died needlessly because of FBI pressure. The should concentrate on Dick Cheney !

The EVIL at ENRON began in November, 1985 when Ken Lay seized control by subterfuge and deceit. He took what was once a weathly and honorable company and ran it into the ground. It took about 15 years. There are HUNDREDS of executives who helped him who have yet to be indicted.
