  • very helpful for a starter!

  • Thanks very much for taking the time, this helps tremendously!!

  • Thnx very much! I was wondering why those plugs wouldn't fit.

So stupid that Yamaha doesn't mention that in the manual.

  • Nice one ,thanks mate

  • Thanks so much, appreciate u sharing ur knowledge!!

  • Hey man, are the banana plugs the same size as 6.35mm jacks ? I couldn't tell.

    Brilliant vid!

  • Perfect....Thanks

  • that was so useful thank you so much.

  • @musicaljones11 Quick FYI, just in case...if you ARE using your amp/speaker setup for musical instrumentation, do be sure and patch your instr. (guitar, keyboard, elec. violin, etc.LOL), to a MIXER, FIRST. :) BTW, I love elec. violins.

  • @musicaljones11 ((CONT.))>>> from below: This will be if you are using a wrap-around option on the poles, and you can go get your 1/4 inch plug "connectors" separately from Radio Shack, then attach to the wires, yourself. If you need any other help, feel free to message me back. :) HAPPY NEW YEAR, MY FRIEND!!

  • @musicaljones11 How many watts is your amp, and what are you hooking the amp and speakers to? Musical instrument, stereo, etc.>>>if your amp is over 500 watts, you will want a thicker, more insulated cord patch, such as a 12 gauge wire, and one of the best ways to find wire of this type for cheap, believe it or not, is actually Home Depot, by the foot.

  • Question? I have a behringer Amp going to Behringer Speakers. The Amp gives me a choice of binding post or speakon cables as outputs. The Speakers Have a - and + 1/4 TS inputs. What do you suggest I do to go from the the amp to the speakers. This is the last thing I need to make my set up work.

  • What brand of banana plugs are you using?

  • @Kobei Sorry, I really don't know. I bought these from an eBay store a few years ago.

  • and by using banana plugs you get a better connection :D

  • Massive help! Many thanks

  • wha?! the background music to this is the same as Kelly's (of "shoes" fame) "what are you guys talking about" song! I was going crazy until I finally placed it.

  • Thanks for sharing this information. Cheers!

  • many thnks fr yr video...really helpfull a lot...i have been trying to find a sollution fr my onkyo AV and these silly lugs but no luck so far...would that be so difficult to have a comment inside the manual and make our lives easier at first place ??!!?? thnks again !

  • This didn't work on my NAD, however I used pliers and got them out easily. Very nice tip, I wouldn't have known to take them out if it wasn't for this video!

  • onkyo does not have those plastic plugs ther free to use the banana plugs as free as u would like i will do this to my speakers asap.i use it the old way and let me tell u what a pain in the fucking ass .thanks for the tip.

  • Its a good job a watched this! I just bought banana plugs and i thought they are no good for my receiver. Thanks!! :D

  • good man .. you have done society a great service

  • Helpful video, thanks.

  • Thankyou so much! now tofind a paperclip to test my Denon / Wharfedale setup...

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Nearly had a mini emotional breakdown there after rewiring and installing banana plugs only to find they didn't fit.....until the lugs were taken out.

  • These "lugs" are only present on receivers sold in European countries (and some others) that use power outlets with the same shape and spacing as the binding posts.

  • Thanks , I have been trying to find out how to do this having just purchased 10s of metres of expensive QED speaker cable with their airplugs and channelled all of it into the walls to then find I couldn't fit them to my new amp.

Greta video and jsut what is needed,

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • Thanks just what I needed to know, I thought you had to get smaller banana plugs.

  • Wow I had no idea. I have the Technics SA-DX940, I will see how it goes. Thanks

  • Very cool

  • Genius

  • Thank you so much! - I was about to throw my newly purchased banana plugs in the bin because they wouldn't fit. They don't say anything in the manual about taking the lugs out.

  • @vladigor03 Glad to help. The lugs are there for something to do with safety and avoiding electric shocks (presumably not really a problem on relatively low power AV amps). I don't think the lugs are compulsory in all countries - but I'm guessing the manufacturers are covering their backs by keeping quiet about the ease of removal.

  • @Techmoan - I always thought the lugs were there as a form of dust cap. On my Sony STR-DH800 a/v amp it was even easier to remove the lugs, just used my fingers.

  • @vladigor03 - There are two sizes of banana plug that I know of, 2mm & 4mm.

  • Holy crap! Why don't they put this kind of stuff in the instructions! Thanks for the tip.

  • Good tip! keep the videos coming

  • Mind = Blown. I seriously did not know that. This helps a lot!

  • More quick tip videos like this, please

  • attaching two shredded wheat to the roof of a bird nesting box will give it a neat thatched cottage look.

  • Been reading Readers Tips in Chat magazine again? Lol

  • COOL!
