My dad owns a retirement home n California and one of the women there is a Survivor of Auschwitz. I often think to myself, how do these people go on after they saw what they saw and experienced what they experienced? Seeing death and loss. Yet when their children visit, you realize, that is how they go on? The Nazis tried to exterminate them but they failed and seeing their children shows the failure of the Nazis and the Reich.
you see survivors today and you think of its just them, well its wrong they rnt just people, theyre special. and it very sad because they watched theyre family die sometimes. and dont you LOVE you family with all your heart? i even fell sad myself for these innocent people. just because your religeon doesnt mean anything about death. i dont even know why people forget about this worst nightmare. they suffered. you didnt. so be happy for them and give your family a hug
I'm proud of people like him. We have to remember the victims AND we have to remember people like Hans and Sophie Scholl, Graf von Stauffenberg, Oskar Schindler... ect. When I think of these people, I can mourn because of the victims AND I can be proud to be a german girl.
@ALiz2618 people who called themselves proud germans were those who participate in the holocaust. so please shut up! scholl and schindler didn't fight against the nazis/helped jews because of them being germans but being humans. so fuck your stupid nationalistic rubbish - thats one of the things that actually made the holocaust possible.
I started reconstruct our family tree 3 years ago and discovered we actually have a very. very large jewish branch. Many of those distant relatives (over 80) were brutally killed during the shoa (holocaust). I got me thinking and got my interest, we must never forget this dark episode of human history!!!
I have family who suffered and where brutally killed in those times I never forget nor will my children and there children your videos are really the best Lord bless U.
@velociraptor65BC I hope for now you find comfort and peace...no words for me how to express my great sympathy for your family and love ones who perished during those times...i sincerely hope that we, even of different cultures or country, make sure that same fate would not be repeated for the present and future generations..
I don't understand why there is still hatred and holocaust denial reflected in Youtube comments. Really feel so sad. Holocaust is a blemish on the history of Mankind. Judaism, one of the ancient most religions of the world has produced some of the best brains of the world.
May God Bless my beloved Israel and Jews all over the world.
:[ it wasnt fair they didnt do anything and kno that there gone it just makes me mad about wut hitler did and the fact he commited suicide.... also i love the song it ties the mood together about how were supposed to feel instead of rock or hip hop music then that would sound stupid....
If I see the photos of the II. Weltkrieg and photos of the persecution of Jews I'm not proud the be a German. I'm glad that my grandfather didn't fight for Hitler bzw. the Nazis
Here is the irony, on the one hand we wish to remember the past so that it will not be repeated but it gives fuel to the antiemites who accuse Jews of wallowing in the past and exploting it for material gain.
i went to the one in DC like a year before the shooting. When I was in the rail car, I started crying! You could see fingernail marks where they were tryin to claw there way out, you could still smell like it was crowded, and u could almosy hear the people screaminbg.
although there ought to have been a reference in remembrance of the many other victims of the nazi regime, lets be realistic: although many, many others were killed, it was primarily the ethnic cleansing of the jewish people; the holocaust, or shoah, in and of itself, refers to the genocide of 6 million jews
Wrong. About half or more were not Jewish. Jews don't have a monopoly on the holocaust. Roma people, homosexuals, disabled and other "undesirables" were killed off too. They were human beings who were fully conscious at the time of their death just like the Jewish victims. Let's not politicize this tragedy.
i was there a week before the shooting..pretty weird..was on like a school trip from halfway across the country...really sad like seeing the train car made me feel weird..then the shoes also
Yeah what bothers me too is that people say it never really happened, when we have survivors, and artifacts proving it. I hate people who say that it never happened but i'm a believer that it did. By the way, very good video.
I m so sorry for those innocent victims. Greek people had suffered too from Turks. Almost 2 million greeks were kicked from asia minor. That was their land for 3000 years and more. The difference here is that Germans apologised but Turks not. They still want to kill us all as well all muslim nations in Balkans
I Have been to this museum back in Sept 2008 while visiting Israel. It totally made me rethink about my family and where i came from. I am German and Polish I am also Jewish. If ever any of you get a chance you need to go and see the attrocity that took place ane remember never to forget.
They still do it. I know that many old Russian Jews and their families moved to Germany, they got pension and all kinds of support from a German government. Germans better than anybody know that Holocaust happened and asked for forgiveness from their most prosecuted victims. They don't want to stay in history as a nation of Nazis murderers but a civilized, cultured people like they've always been before Hitler came to power..Good for them.
Great video. I hope to visit the museum some day. Regarding Holocaust deniers, most are not Germans. All the Germans I know are quite forthright about the crimes that were committed and also pay taxes that go to repararations to the victims, even though most German taxpayers were born after the Nazi era. I think it is responsible and honorable.
It is not honorable to ignore the genocide on serbs during ww1 ww2 and during the 90´s. My mother has 5 friends who have been raped by muslims and croats. But hague tribunale dont care.
abbycat, since you live in Miami, please know that there is also the Florida Holocaust Museum (about 4 hours north of you) that is quite good if you are ever passing through the St. Petersburg-Tampa area.
Its a fair video but to small or to short. The images are changing to rapidly. The video could have a vocal naration and more examples from the site (like the ghetto model, or the gas chamber, or the return to life after the war). Its was a great expirience to visit the site this sommer.
Is it subliminally significant that both the Nazi Swastika and the Jewish Star of David are both simply constructed identically by using two straight line elements that are both bent at two places ? That is the triangle is constructed by using a straight line that is bent at two places, and the same is true also for the half of the swastika symbol.
Also the burning buildings on 0:46, photo taken at the campaign in Russia. The Germans didn't ignite these buildings, the Sowjets did it themselves at Stalin's orders to burn down everything before they left for retreat.
When will we have such an expensive memorial for the millions of poor Christian victims tortured and slaughtered by the Soviet Union and their satelite states who were ruled by Jews? When will there ever be a trial for the thousands of KGB Communist butchers and their henchmen, who fled to Israel, or other Communist-friendly countries after the fall of the Communist block? When will there be justice in China? in Vietnam? Cambodja?
I have to say that the famous photo on 00.48 where you see a German soldier apparently shoot a woman and her child is faked. The woman is Vietnamese and her silhouette cut out from another photo. Bad choice for renowned holocaust Museum Yad vashem.
i don't get why nazis or whatever they call themselves these days say the holcaust is a lie when they admit they hate jews. If they hate jews so much, wouldn't they be proud of the 6 million deaths? I don't get it..
Also, all the Nazis are burning in hell so we don't really need to worry about these people.
Lauralsobelx, they are killers. Of course they would deny that it happened. They are sparing their pride. Many of them know it happened and are flat out lying. Also, there are many neo-Nazis in the world who are alive and not in hell.
If you visit Yad Vashem, you'll see it details Jew persecution stretching back centuries. Not just the events of Nazi germany. Some of the worst atrocities at Jews took place in Russia and Zionism was thought up there long before Nazis,as a reaction to centuries of persecution of Jews in Europe. Zionism is an ideology which sought to save Jews lives by obtaining a homeland. Would you deny them?
You quite rightly point out the Russian connection, but the numbers that died there far surpassed that in Germany. The architects of this were influencial organised Jews at the highest level. This is never pointed out in mainstream media. Jews played a pivotal role in the marxist/communist regimes though at times when they had less influence it did indeed turn on their own kind.
@Ommodawn You are right. Plus Isreal being a Jewish homeland can be traced to the Old Testament. Ratter one believes in the Old Testament or not it is there. So there are multi reasons for Jews in Isreal bu the roots go to the O. T.
Anytime there is a discussion about the Shoa, people come to it armed with emotion and beliefs. There's NO DOUBT that the Holocaust happened. Whether one person died or 6 million or 50 million, plus or minus, of the dead from WW2, to take a life is wrong. It was one of the most unforgivable acts of murder that man committed against man.
There are also other atrocities being committed around the world today.
Let us show respect for the dead and the living by remembering and not repeating.
Yad Vashem was a beginning for me. It was there that I cast of my German heritage and began to embrace my Jewish heritage. My life will never be the same again. I spent a tear in Viet Nam and thought that I had seen everything that man could do to man. At Yad Vashem, I saw what man could do to 6,000,000 men.
This place is no joke - it's real. So where the tears in my eyes. Barauck HaShem - Jeshua!
Israel even admits 6,000,000 was a gross exaduration...
Talking of Vietnam, the Americans Killed over 10 million Vietnamese and Cambodians with their constant B52 raids, shelling, Agent Orange... That's another holocaust.
The Innocent People, mostly Women and Children that died in Nagasaki, Hiroshima and Firebombing of Tokyo, Osaka was a Holocaust
I could correct the shit out of your illiterate and offending comment there, but I'd rather just say that you are a disgrace to the survivors and the whole Jewish people. Unfortunately I can't convince you of anything, you're just another stubborn bullshit conspiracist Nazi.
Every other religious group in history has received equal if not worst persecution as practicers of Judaism. Point being people who practice the religion Judaism don't deserve any more sympathy than any other religious group that's been persecuted.

WOW! I just got thrown back in time, as if I were living 100's of years ago. Back when there was no choices, no deciding for oneself -- no facing the truth. A time when monsters ruled the earth -- they were human - but they were monsters -- when people got away with hell on earth, and people turned a blind eye to it, like it was not happening. And, if someone was different, they were outcast, or burned at the stake. You, madams99 sent me there! cont........below
To read such hate is disheartening; it shows the continued lack of compassion and the increasing evil on this earth. How sad that few who watched left words of humility, only to leave more hate. We are indeed in the days when evil is called good; and good is called evil. Sha'alu Shalom Yirushalayim. Baruch Haba BeShem Eloyhym.
Any one serious about studying the Holocaust really needs to look at the works of Raul Hilberg. His groud breaking study of the Holocaust eclipses anything you will ever see at Yad Vashem.
The fact that Yad Vashem had rejected the manuscript and initially even barred him from its archive, really says a lot about the politics of Yad Vashem.
Looking at pictures of politicians looking at pictures of the skeleton like jews won't teach you anything.
When the Palestinians stop housing terrorists in their homes. Four little children died this week when Israelis aimed at the terrorists and hit explosives housed in the same place as innocent babies. God forgive the Palestinians for what they do to their children cos I don't

Really sad how people can kill each other still today over imaginary gods and feelings of superiority. This story is not at end...

Unmeasarbly the biggest crime against mankind.
Eriikm91 3 years ago
no, one of the biggest crimes against mankind, not the biggest.
simply2ghetto 3 years ago
Furthermore who are you to decide (or anyone in that case) what was the biggest crime against mankind.
What about the massacre of Africans of the Congo by King leopold II.
The enslavement of africans (plus other races) and slaughter of millions of slaves throughout history.
The total genocide of the american indians.
The mass genocide of the armenians.
The butcher of the south americans by the spanish colonisers.
Among others....
Man will never learn from history.

When the Palestinians stop housing terrorists in their homes. Four little children died this week when Israelis aimed at the terrorists and hit explosives housed in the same place as innocent babies. God forgive the Palestinians for what they do to their children cos I don't
