  • haha it's funny how Tommy's voice sounds like Chihiro from Spirited away^^

  • Watching this whole show right now on pollysteaming(dot)com, you guys should check it out! Its free!

  • This pilot.is rugrats on acid and tommy sounds like a girl lol.

  • @xxbassxxMakar I believe his voice actor from the main series was actually a woman. A lot of young boys in cartoons are voiced by women. For instance Bart Simpsons voice actor is Nancy Cartwright.

  • AMAZING. I LOVE THE RUGRATS SO MUCH I WISH I COULD STILL WATCH THEM EVERYDAY..TO BAD ALL THEY SHOW NOW IS WEIRD SHOWS ABOUT TEENAGERS SINGING AND DANCING

  • @nacholiibr3 right?! stupid teenage crap now haha

  • HOLY CRAP!!!! The animation in this is REALLY ace. Now I can tell the same dude who did Aeon Flux made this. I can't see it with the animation we are used to but this!!! Fantastic! almost surrealistic.

  • They recently canceled it but every night @ 12 pm on teen nick is when it comes on :D

  • @homeschool55 I agree

  • Why did they not air it on tv I don't understand but I seen this before

  • @Homschool55 It's a pilot. Pilots are used to sell the show to a television network. Kinda like a preview or test so the network knows what it's getting.

  • Domestic abuse ending haha

  • Tommy sounds much more burly than he did in the rest of the show :p

  • Took a while to get used to the animation. Once I did it was so worth it.

  • I have to inform everyone to not watch this under the influence of marijuana because I'm a fucking badass

  • Very alternative art work indeed

  • Why was this not aired?

  • i wish cartoons where still like this;/

  • Did they film giraffes in human costumes to make this?

  • Looks all hyper-realistic and stuff D:

  • I remember them cutting the part with Tommy and Spike watching T.V. as a bumper on Nickelodeon back in the day

  • That is not phi'ls voice

  • Does anybody know if this episode was ever on tv

  • sage belly in the water closet?? wow I haven't heard that saying since my great grandad was alive

  • for some reason, i like the song played when tommy changes the channel

  • DANM NECKS

  • Its funny to see Tommy in an orange shirt instead of blue... I love rug rats I watched it everyday when I was little and almost have every episode on vhs

  • Oh my goodness it DOES look like Aeon Flux! X)

  • remember liquid tv? aeon flux cartoon.. looks like the same animation.. nice

  • @m80thebrawler1 LOL! The same dude who made Aeon created Rugrats.

  • @elm1230 wow blow my mind.. aeon flux was 100% adult..he made a complete 180

  • @m80thebrawler1 haha! Yeah I actually got this wrong. He didn't create the series. He only animated this (the pilot) and the opening for the Rugrats. I also think some of the background music is similar to Aeon Flux, so maybe the same music producer? Yeah it would have been cool if he did create Rugrats though. I just would love to have seen him animate the whole series cause this looks awesome.

  • I remember on the 90's are all that commercials over the summer they showed the last scene of this episode.

  • Animation is really good O.O

  • Wow, Rugrats was a lot different back then o.o

  • DEM NECKS

  • *hits replay button a thousand times*

Ahh, I miss the rugrats sooooo much! Thank you so much for posting this! :-D

  • the animation in this is incredible.

  • lol i think the way tommy talks in this is a little bit gangster, its seems at any moment he should be saying, ay yo moms!

  • How can I find the song that plays during the first six seconds of this video? I love it so much!

  • I think just once (at least on The 90's are all that block on Teennick) they should air this episode

  • I love this as much as I love The Power Puff Girls!

  • You guys/girls need to google The Truth Behind the Rugrats. It talks about how Rugrats really were a figment of Angelica's Imagination. thumbs up to let everyone see, and spread the truth.

  • @ST4leave this theory doesn't stand strong, and if it really was a fact, the show wouldn't have aired because Nick never airs a show with hidden messages. Besides, the babies were talking before Angelica was even introduced, so obviously, this 'truth' falls flat on it's face. The real truth of the fact is that it's a cartoon! Which means the characters aren't actually real, which includes Angelica!

  • @The38DODGE

    thumbs this up ^^

  • Nice. I kinda like Tommy's voice in this episode, but I think that his voice in the later episodes is better. I like this episode. It's funny like the other ones.

  • whats the music called at 4:59?

  • 4:59 is that real fishing music?

  • If Pinkie Pie can now babysit babies, will she babysit THESE babies?

    >referenced another show

  • Tommy kind of sounds like Lilo from Lilo and Stitch.

  • to think at one point this was the jus a sample of what would turn out to b the greatest children tv show ever

  • Does anyone know if they ever refferenced living in Akron, Ohio? In the first ep they live in 'Highland' so I assume they must have already moved to Cali.

  • Seeing this makes me want to be a kid again....I watched this show everyday! Days well spent because the show would soon be gone :'(

  • I hated to see this awesome show end.....I was officially heart broken <\3

  • The True First Episode!!!

  • Introducing Dil and Chuckie's step mom and sister was retarded. Way to ruin a series.

  • I've seen the ending scene at the "All Grown Up" prelude episode from Rugrats

  • Also I love how he walks it's soo cute :3333

    3:18

  • Oh my gosh that song at the start...it feels me with nostalgy and the memories of it have never gone...I miss Rugrats! :(

  • Holy sh!t this took me back to my childhood!! Never seen this episode either

  • Tommy was cuter in the pilot.

  • that intro music really takes me back

  • Man does this bring back memories

  • The fuck happened to stu's neck?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • the 2nd season up to whenever Kimi joined in had the best art. season one looked too old and the newer ones looked too high-quality and the voices were weird. the middle animation was the greatest!

  • TOMMY'S VOICE IS HILARIOUS!!! hahahaha!

  • LOL I love how I have a tape of this episode

  • i was as old as tommy when this came out.

  • i bought myself the rugrats trilogy movie collection at walmart for 13 bucks it has all three movies!! i already had the rugrats gone wild on dvd but i wanted all of them!! i love the rugrats!!

  • @gir46765 3 movies? the one with the thomberries, the one in paris, the one when dill is born and the one where they "time travel" to the future and they are teens,so i count 4 though the last one may qualify as a all grown up movie

  • wow this was bad. Based on this they shouldn't have picked up the series.

  • Nostalgiaaaaaaaa! (I'm singing)

  • awsome.

  • Cool..

  • Whoa this looks super Peter Chung-ish, I forgot he was the director

  • Not Tommys voice, I know its a girl that voices Tommy but that was not it :) Loved it though, made me feal young again :)

  • tommy the accidental ninja

  • Yay! I can be a kid again!!

  • Wow, I like the art and crazy animation better than the actual series.

  • Did anyone notice at 6:07, Grandpa is credited as "Stu Pickles, Sr?" His name was changed to Lou when the series began.

  • Phil and Lil have the same voice in this episode

  • @ravengurl92 AND every single episode to follow. They're both voiced by the same girl.

  • @ravengurl92 actually in the real series the same person voiced both of them

  • I feel like i'm on drugs watching normal rugrats then this

  • you can so tell this was directed by the guy that did aeon flux, like when you first see the toilet, the angle and the speed at which "the camera" moves.

  • I remember when I was 10 I came home and my little 5 year old brother was watching this and he was crying because tommy's voice scared him I'm glad they changed they voice agh good times hood times

  • all the shows from the 90s are back on teen nick and nicktoons network

  • I miss these shows!

  • Wow the art changed SOOOOO much

  • aaaah, i missed this show. i remember watching this everytime i came home from cycling.miss my childhood :') feel bad for children today. they didn't enjoy what we enjoy. now they all are surrounded by hi-tech and no more hi-quality cartoon like this ckckck

  • Wow, Tommy sounds fandubbed. Also, none of that would have happened to him if they'd bothered to close the toilet lid. Let this be a lesson to us all. :)

  • So hand drawn it hurts. I love it!

  • wow the art on here sux lol

  • Tommy sounds different?!

  • this show an the simpsons was all i ever watched growing up an well there both around before i was born, because simpsons has been around since my dad was a kid and the rugrats started in 1991 an i finally found that out today

  • they was ugly characters back then

  • man i miss my old childhood :(

  • I was a huge Rugrats fan at an early age. I probably started watching them when they were on Hiatus. I am catching up on Netflix. I just wish that Netflix had Seasons 1,2 & 3

  • The mahem never ends!

  • @Madcomplex and the story begins....again

  • Ah! The rugrats, still love'em. Can't live without them!

  • I grew up on the Rugrats I'm 22, and in hindsight after watching this episode this is a show that had so much potential right here, great characters, great score (Mark Mothersburg?), fabulous directing and plot. All around a 90's gem for kids and the song at 5 minutes sounds like a Mario 64 song.

  • omg i love the rugrats. i used to have all the rugrats plushies ^^

  • Cute cartoon.

  • I wish I had a nickel for every time I saw the generic Nickelodeon commercial that featured the final scene from this pilot, but I never thought the scene was part of an entire episode. I wonder why they never aired the pilot.

  • Never grow up.

  • hello childhood

  • Badass

  • i love rugrats this show was like my favorite when i was 2!!!!!

  • I was born in the 90s. i lived a short portion of my life in the 90s. but i remember that portion well, because of my mom and her habit of hanging onto things from my childhood for safe-keeping.

so here's to you mom, thanks for making me the person i am today.

  • Let this be a reminder to never let young children in the bathroom unsupervised.

  • Tommy sounds a little like Hakudoshi from Inuyasha

  • Tommy looks like a monkey and I'm glad they switched the actors for him and the artests

  • Tommy sounds alot different to me lol

  • @VShadowSageV different voice actor! :D

  • he used to look like salad fingers lol

  • Oh my gosh! I remember seeing the closing scene (where Tommy grabs the remote from the armchair, changes the channel, and starts dancing with Spike) on several generic Nickelodeon commercials. I never thought the commercial was directly tied to anything

  • @BlackFox0911 I remember that to! XD

  • I'm 26 years old, and anyone even close to my age knows that The Rugrats is engraved into our very DNA. It was part of our raising. They just don't make cartoons like they used to. This cartoon will continue shaping lives for as long as people let it. Rugrats forever!

  • @BlackFox0911 Well I am 25 and your are right

  • Whenever Tommy pulls out his screw-driver, it's about to get INTENSE lol I <3 Rugrats :)

  • OMG! memories!!!!

  • This episode aired in the morining of new zealand (on accident) because of 1900's and for this particular episode airing suicide rates went up in that area

  • I guess I know why it wasn't aired...

  • creeeeeeeeepy.

  • their necks...

  • I saw this before at some point, but not on You Tube.

  • Was that other couple sitting at the table with Stu and Didi Phil and Lil's mom and dad? Wow, everything is so different here, the artwork is strange though, but different. So much detail was put into it! And the voice actress for Tommy ALMOST sounded like the very first episode's voice, but much more girlish, also Phil and Lil sounded EXACTLY the same. (Even though the same woman plays both of them) Phil lacked his rough like voice, that was probably later added. Still, I love Rugrats! :)

  • Aw nostalgia. Bitter, bitter nostalgia.

  • This is kinda creepy though... :S

  • Watching this after watching the Rugrats theory shit is crazy

  • RUGRATS FTW!! Fuck all the new age bullshit that took over Nickelodeon.

  • This is creepy, at least when tommy moved before it was somewhat realistic, this is just weird, him moving around like a fricken crack addict.

  • Tommy's voice makes me want to vomit.

  • I think they should've kept that animation style, it looked great minus the ren-and-stimpy-like part with Phil and Lil.

  • the last part when tommy is watching tv was used as a comercial for nickelodeon between shows, I remember that

  • the animation . . . . is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too detailed

and it is creepy as fuck

  • ive seen this before somewhere it had to be on some movie as a bonus or Nick had to air this once

  • THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGIN, NOT JUST FOR RUGRATS, BUT FOR THE BEGINING OF NICKELODEON

  • @9521johnnyboy Nickelodeon its older than that

  • @Likeaperv what i meant was that this was the start of nickelodeons popularity for young kids

  • My god this got some creep factor over it(the animation), the necks alone is really eerie. ._.

  • its cant be nobodies imagination...its a cartoon... they are all fake but they are all real in the cartoon

  • They don't make like they used to

  • well that was definitely different. the house really changed from this pilot to the actual show

  • lmao, wow how things have changed since the begining

  • Why haven't Tommy died yet is a wonder. He could've cracked his skull like that.

  • Yeah, I know the Rugrats theory thing isn't really true, still it got me into watching these again, now for some reason they creep me out lol

  • What episode of all grone up shows the part of this episode when tommy and spike are dancing at the end of this pilot episode

  • and there not part of angelicas imagination... her and suzie r still young enough to understand the way babies talk and that how they talk to eac other

  • @softballxox12 Yes and no, it is because their young and can understand one another. Kids ussually understand babies in the commentaries they say once you reach 7 you start understanding less and less that is why Angelica is so mean at times because when she hears babies he hears their ignorance in her translation. While Suzie takes it as wonderment. In end though once you hit purperty the mind is worried about responsibilities that some thing become forgotten.

  • ...why have i never seen this episode before?! i saw every episode except this one and that is notttt tommys voice..but other than that..this episod was histerical! im almost 15 and im atill in love with this show-3

  • @softballxox12 This is a pilot that never aired.

  • @softballxox12 thats nothing. im 25 and still watch rugrats if its on tv. like every night on teen nick.

  • How can they be part of Angelika's imagination if they interact with them?

  • @lovelyismydog haha obviously ur 8yrs old its kinda for ur age group....

  • im 8 and i still love rugrats

  • that arguing was some really good voice acting LOL

  • Holy cow the ball next to Tommy is 20x bigger

  • Lol the ending is so funny the parents are freaking out and Tommy and the dog are just rockin out but yeah the necks are weird and it's weird hearing Timmy with a different voice.

  • Lmao at scene 5:16 .... Tommy's chilling with a plunger and toilet tissue for a hat...

  • Lol

  • Tommy had some great upper body strength.

  • i loved this.

  • Either that's a huge toilet or Tommy's a premature newborn cuz fuuuuck so not proportional

Speakin of which, wtf the neck:head is off

    Haha gotta love 90s cartoons

  • This was kinda trippy

  • the pic at 5:18 looks familiar

  • deedee=jessie from pokemon

  • i don't care what anyone says but Tommy Pickles from The Rugrats was a true mother fucking OG!

  • Wtf with their necks.

  • this was unaired? I'm almost 100% sure I did see it at some point... maybe it was just unaired in the US

  • tommy's voice sucks here

  • Fricken awesome

  • I used to have a neck like that, then i took an arrow in the knee.

  • wtf tommies voice is so not cute

  • I think there are more cells of animation in this one episode than all the subsequent episodes after it, combined.

  • they all have like elephantitis of the head

  • how come half the comments are about necks????

  • Director: Peter Chung!!! God that were 90's :) ... nowadays I think ... what did we do wrong :(

  • THOSE R SOME FURRREAKY LOOKIN NECKS! thats ALL I focused on the whole time lol

but yah no wonder it was never aired. so freaky to see, maybe it causes blindness too lol

  • wat im gonna say is real babies love toliets

  • AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! Nostalgia attack! AAHHH it hurts!
