  • what make and model is your guitar what number

  • Nice guitar and you sound great!

  • the olny better version on a regular guitar was by JEFF BECK so this guy is pretty good .

  • too much mahogany.pine. teak.etc

  • how the FUCK can people dislike this video?! This man is AWESOME! *****5TARS

  • The best version I've heard other than Santo and Johnny. Beautiful rendition!

  • Nice playing, but check out Amos Garrett (of Midnight at the Oasis fame) for a killer version.

  • That's my kinda guy. You are an inspiration. Thanks mate

  • A classic tune, well played. It sounds great to me!!

  • awesome in winnipeg

  • Thanks for the video, it was great showing that us old farts can still do the do. I've picked up on playing the oldies and it's getting good reactions from the people I play to. Keep it up!!

  • @MrJoeandfaye

Beautiful.....nice work and nice guitar. Is that a Country Classic I?

  • Excellent vibrato technique....Its hard to imitate the sound of a steel on a 6-string but his vibrato is the closest to Santo and Johnnys steel that I have heard. Any one who criticizes this playing is obviously musically ignorant. Listen to the original and you'll note how he really nails the phrasing.

  • I would like to smash on the loser/hater who said this guy sucks. Obviously the person who said has no respect and needs taught some. FYI...Your Grandfather ROCKS!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • very good indeed :)

  • Great tune!! :)

  • Snapped

  • Very nice, Probably the closest I've heard to the original by santo & johnny without a lap steel !

  • Please tell your grandpa to come to Europe. I want to see him live! He's really talented!

  • excellent...

  • Very nice....great guitar also.

  • Excellent playing, and post... Thanks...!

  • Well done...

  • Best Sleepwalk solo I've heard

  • Your grandad plays beautifully.

  • This song is made for this Gretsch.....great job grampa! Sounds like to you got a grandchild thats proud of you too!

  • Much better than Satriani's version

  • Wow she looks like Lucille. What a beautiful guitar!

  • hey that was enjoyable

  • Nice, very nice :D

  • do u have a tab?

  • very good played sir, here a tip for the vibrato, try to vibrate more in the rhythm of the song, like it 8th, 16th or triplets, that way the effect even sounds better and more musical. Teh very slow vibrato sometimes is excellent and sounds very musical and appropriate.

  • Really good ... don look at the bad comments they think they can do better... The best thing you can do is make your playing better and better so they wil realise they their asses were being sucked by your guitar...

  • very pretty playing,very melodic...thumbs way up!!!!!

  • Flippen Awesome !!

  • Well, you inspired me. I have been trying to play this song, but to no avail. Now after watching you, I will attempt it in a lower key and maybe find success. Thanks for a great video.

  • I am Quite jealous of the fact that you can play that song so sexily. lol I tried but failed.

  • Nice job on a classic beautiful song.

  • Great version of this one man. Love it. It sounds You should try and do this with a glass slide I bet you would kick butt with one.

  • this is too fast to grasp the emotion in this song

  • your grandpa is amazing. although you dont know me. notify him that i want to be just like him. happy and old with a awesome guitar and studio. :)

  • Nice version. I've never seen two people play this the same way on a 6 string. Whatever works for you, I guess. This song is really ripe for improvisation and honestly, most versions here are pretty damn good, although each is different. Again, nice version here.

  • Great song

  • Love it! :)

  • great job. well done

  • its a beautiful guitar :)

  • Great.. Congratulations!

    Marcelo

  • love this old fashion vibrato

  • Love the song. love your playing.

Question..what is the back track that you use ? and where can I get it? And secondly the tab to the version that you played?

  • Nice sound, great song. I've been working this one up on my Gretsch 6119 Tennesseean Chet Atkins. Your version gave me some helpful tips, grand job.

  • when i think electric guitars, i think fender gibson and gretsch, the rest just dont compare

  • Thanks for puttting this up I am thinking of getting Gretsch GS520 after flogging my fender strat cause I play Perkins, Instrumentals (inc this one) Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Del Shannon, Cochran etc and original songs so I need a Gretsch to get that true 50s 60s sound and be able to play unplugged as well.

  • THAT DOES NOT SUCK HE IS MY GRANDPA YOU SUCK LOSER I HATE YOU !!!!!

  • tastefully done. Great tone!

  • Fantastic playing my friend.

  • Excelent! sound great! like the old times! warm!

  • Nice country gentleman

that song sounds like free as a bird

  • nice country gentleman

  • Very nice match toSanto and Johnny.

What do you use as the back up? Machine..cd ?

  • Great!

  • my 2nd fav instrumental. nice playing & Gretsch tone.

  • slow down on the whammy-ing dude. You're making it sound like a nervous twitch

  • anyone else but TV Jones is making filtertrons pickups? i neeed a pair for an old Eko hollowbody (a poor man´s gretsch haha

amazing video pal congrats beautiful guitar tell us somethig about the pickups.

  • @endrizo

These are the stock pickups of a pre-Fender Gretsch made in Japan. They are not similar to TV Jones, however, I like them.

  • @endrizo

Guitarfetish makes filtertrons and they're really really cheap. Never tried out but you can find a lot of videos on youtube

  • @endrizo go on ebay. you can find filtertrons that people have pulled from their gretsches for not too high a price ;)

little advice though.. you MAY want to replace the wiring harness & pots as well.. it will affect the quality of sound to a degree. whether it's worth the cash to you or not though is your call. :)

  • @nicholausr thank you for the advise.good playing pal.

  • Exellent

  • nice sound. Is it stock Gretsch or have you made some changes?

  • Beautiful music on a beautiful guitar! Very nicely played!!

  • The guitar sounds cool, you should only practise your bends...

  • damn that so good !

  • never knew the name of this song till I just found your vid! I love this tune, and you did a great cover! Very tasty playing.

  • nice playing and awesome guitar.amigo

  • Awesome!

  • Best version on YouTube!

  • Who's version is this? So many here are based on Setzers work which is great, but this is nice and clean and classy playing and tone. Is that the ebony fretboard?

  • Very nice!

  • That is one bitchin mustache.

  • @lilroy1994 Gretsch Country Classic II (replaced by the current 6120DC). They're beauties, alright, and those pickups have that trademark sound.

  • LOVELY

  • amazing!!!

  • awesome, do you have tabs for this ???

  • great sir!

  • Nice!!!

  • That was very nicely done !! great stuff.

  • Fantasic like the orginal 5 tumbs uppppppppppppppppppppppppppp.Best Reg Svenne.

  • you are awsome how much did that guitar cost by the way me learn how to play it to

  • beautiful, but i have a question, often when i watch a song being played by chet atkins on a gretch guitar, he seems to use tremolo by pushing on his pickguard instead of using a conventional bigsby or something? How does this work? :)

  • you gave me goosebumps, you played that classic perfectly.

  • @lilroy1994

It is a made in Japan pre-Fender called :

    Country Classic II

  • @JGarcia658 How are the Pre Fender pickups?

  • Sweet. great sound on your axe.

  • why all the peolple how buy a Grestch wants to play this song hahahah funny.....

  • nice country gent,

  • nice work.

  • OMG you play a nice straightforward rendition then go and ruin it with a blues lick on the end!!

  • @eggymoo I can't believe i happened to see your comment here after the one you left on the Danny Gatton version. You are entitled to your opinion, freedom and democracy, yadayada, but since you seem to think everyone else's version is not good enough, why don't you record the world's perfect version of sleepwalk so we all know how it's done!

  • @MrYoter perhaps I already have....?

  • @eggymoo not on eggymoo's channel.......!

  • is your guitar black or purple? either way its still an awsome guitar

  • great work mate!!!!!

  • Perfect! Better than anyone else who did it before on youtube. Full of feelings ralvarezguitar has probably been fooled by the cd or the electronic machine used to accompanying JGarcia658. That's the first time I hear such a perfect version on a conventional guitar. That's really something!

  • @Regardneuf

    Thanks for kind words

  • @JGarcia658 It's not just kind words I'm sure. You DID rock here.

  • Perfect! Better than anyone else who did it before on youtube. Full of feelings ralvarezguitar has probably been fooled by the cd or the electronic machine used to accompanying JGarcia658. That's the first time I hear such a perfect version on a conventional guitar. That's really something!

  • Such a sad song reminds me of when I was a kid. also at the end of La bamba when ritchie dies

  • Well done but with no feeling at all.

  • You are correct. I was too conscious of the camera.

    Should I post again?

Could you give me some ideas as to where inject more feelings? Thanks!

  • @JGarcia658 Play it from your heart and your hands will transmit more feeling to it. Great guitar though!

  • @ralvarezguitar

You say play from the heart!

    Got it!

    Thanks

  • @JGarcia658

I actually think that your feel is decent but if you want to make it real emotional, try adding some natural vibrato, not using the tremolo. Another technique that I find very "feel-ish" is to 'play' with duration of the notes - make some of them shorter, some of them longer.. play with the listeners' anticipation and surprise them, it makes your arrangement much more personal and if your'e good, much more emotional.

  • @ViaOSCard

The trem vibrato is warblier and more like the slide vibrato in the original. I think it's very appropriate.

  • Firme ass Geetara!

  • i would put a lot more reverb to it

  • I will try that next time I play it.

    Thanks!

  • Nice guitar, Master! :O

  • Beautiful rendition my friend. 5stars plus !!!!

  • Ritchie!!!!!!!!

Sory couldnt resist best vid ive seen of it on here, great work!

  • Amazing thanks!

  • Mr Garcia! This is the Best! congratulation!

  • Great Job! I learned the Sleepwalk but I cannot for the life of me find the original backing track like you use. Is there any way that I could get it from you? Keep on playing you are really good.

    Thanks
