I've written off an italian sports motorcycle breaking my legs, Ive been up to the hull of an oil tanker in an inflatible dingy, I stage dived at an Iron maiden concert, I watched drunk women dance naked around campfires, I slept rough with homeless people and I filmed your mom having sex with your uncle- therefore I conclude : I've led a much more interesting life than James randi (up to now), He's seen nothing !
He is betting on failure, which in itself is a mistake. There is nothing to deny. Everything is possible... People who earlier denied, now is ridiculous.
Alice Cooper! MAN! This guy has lead a full life. He's witnessed wonders that artists can try, and only fail to capture half the beauty of. And the finishing note of this all: "Yet. There's still time." is great. I know people 1/4 his age that have given up on life.
@TheOptimistPrime Difference is. We can watch James. We can listen to James. We don't need someone else to "interpret" what James is telling us. There's no doubt James is real. James promotes, and provokes, people into thought, and understanding, pushing us to question, observe, and develope.
One thing is certain though: praying to James Randi, and praying to god, would produce identical results.
@TheOptimistPrime Difference is. We can watch James. We can listen to James. We don't need someone else to "interpret" what James is telling us. There's no doubt James is real.
@TheOptimistPrime not everyone is a leader. most of us are followers, regardless of ideas or beliefs. the trick is to listen to the ideas of as many leaders as possible, find the differences and similarities between those ideas, and make up your own mind. if your own ideas aren't shared by the person you're following, either find another leader, or BECOME a leader.

i rarely pray, but when i do, i pray to james randi.
he can get out of a straight jacket in a couple minutes.
it took jesus three days to wiggle out of a damp rag.
I don't care where he's been. I will miss James Randi when he does die just like I miss George Carlin. Randi has done a lot of good work in exposing people and making them look stupid. We need more people like that in this world.
What's the point of this video, really? Is it supposed to illustrate wisdom? For someone who's supposed to be wise, Randi seems to be too full of himself and this video makes him sound like an egomaniac...
He made the video around the time when he had cancer. He wanted to console the people who will be sad when he passes. He's 82 years old. What he's saying is that we shouldn't feel bad for him, because he's already seen what he wants to see. He's seen far more, in fact, than most people will see during a lifetime.
@dalsgaard12 : Well I guess that makes sense now, although he could have done a lot more with his message. You should check out Randy Pausch's "Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" (I'll post it in my favorites). He was an IT professor who died from cancer at age 47, yet instead of feeling self-pity he managed to inspire numerous people with his joy-de-vivre and his wisdom. Randi sounds like an old fool in comparison, even though I'm sure he is far more knowledgable than most people.
@duffman5800 True, but that means that he had been there during or short after the war ended. But he says he was there after the war. It became polish after the red army marched in. So I see no time when he could have been there.
@gogdansk Randi was speak in tongues; he meant the world when it was Pangaea; and never has Randi been more boring. Randi makes one mistake; the old and new testaments have hundreds of contradictions as the sun revolves around the earth. Much less laws as stone & kill your kid for talking back to you; stone and kill your bride on wedding night if she's not a virgin (hey accidents don't happen!) and SAK (god's acronym not mine) those who work on Sabbath.
JREF the promoters of lies about 9/11 and the promoters of lies about vaccines. Shame on you all. I always thought the Paranormal was a subjective/inner human experience...what he's saying is that he's travelled all over the world & found nothing objective to validate people's inner psychic ability...that doesn't make much sense at all.
@pardonmygenie He went around the world to find what he was searching: nothing, so he found it. This is the most deluded man I have ever seen. The more videos I hear from him, more I see man on the wrong path.
We are souls, spiritual beings. James Randi is psychic, but he believes he is banana.
Um.. this kind of sounded like James Randi just bragging about his excellent life. Yes I'm Jealous, mission accomplished James? What was the point of this whole speech?
If he is dieing then I guess I would feel a little bad about my comment, but he should have just come out with it so we know the purpose of the speech, and so it doesn't come off as pure bragging rights.
@Borstian We are are all "old" at any point of time, as we are eternal beings, using these bodies yet as another vehicles for fun and driving. There is no discrimination based on age, he has left video on YouTube, there are comments, he can remove them if he wishes.
James Randi will NEVER post a video where he genuinely admires the unexplainable miracle. That is why is his 1 million dollar game a pure fraud.
@Magikomik eternal we may be, but I started my existence about 24 years ago and thus don`t consider me old. He on the other hand nears the end of the part of his existence of which he can be sure of, and as far as he believes(with the same right with which you believe otherwise) his existence is about to end. And any being about to cease its existence should be allowed to reflect on its past.
@Borstian You see, that is awareness level. Punch hard a person, and he might not remember anything prior. Family loss might cause amnesia. And many other situations in life cause amnesia. What do you think how hard amnesia will be when one looses his own life? That is why we don't remember, but our bodies are only vehicles.
By simply being able to use our bodies, we are all psychics. That is why James Randi is a pathetic old Santa.
@Magikomik Since nobody remembers, this cannot be prooved( and I don`t believe in it). But the point of the million dollar challenge is to do something that is outside the rules of physics. using your own body is well within this rules. So, as far as the definition goes, nobody was ever able to show psychic powers, nor will anyone ever be able to do so. You can`t cheat physics.
@Borstian Anyone has the right to reflect on their past, even a 7 year old. We, however, have the right not to listen. But the point of this vid is do what you can TODAY, don't put it off, because in the long term we're all terminal. And there's such a lot out there!
First, he explained the purpose at the beginning of the video.
Second, he's in his eighties now.
Third, maybe he is _too_ modest, because it is common knowledge that he has had heart surgery, but more urgently, within just the last year he had a cancer operation and months of chemo.
He's trying to cheer up people like us, because he knows he's likely to die in the not too distant future.
@deathduck2 it sounds bragging for you because you are frustrated for some reason... look into it. The problem is in you, I don't see any bragging here. He is an old man closer to durable fulfillment than you will probably ever be.
In a world with no religion Galileo would never have spent the last years of his life under arrest, Kepler (orbit of the planets) wouldn't have wasted years as a religious refugee, and we might even have kept Archimedes' original work on the calculus.
Religion has cost the world well over a thousand years progress in physics, medicine, and human rights.
I find it a curious point of irony that so many of the worlds greatest wonders and achievments which Randi has been in awe of and would still like to see (Inca temples, stonehenge, terricotta army, pyramics, etc) are the product of religious faith or ritual.
Just imagine, without the belief in supernatural concepts so many of these extraordinary things would never have happened. I'm not really making any particular point, just saying, it does make one wonder just what humanity is capable of.
@Cellsplitter 2012 is when the Mayan Calendar ended, it doesnt mean anything. People keep blowing it out of proportion because they are stupid superstitious imbeciles. Did it ever occur that the Mayan Calendear might just have been a work-in-progress? Nothing will happen during 2012, but ofcourse theres always idiots that will claim the opposite.
Randi should encode this stuff to one chaptered .mkv (h.264) format and distribute as a .torrent. Much more enjoyable to watch than this flash pixel video of youtube.
You have your fans among the "woo-woo" believers; me. I do not always agree, but I enjoy your discourse and your intellect. It is indeed an amazing world, and like you, I appreciate being here. Cheers! L'chaim! Tazo!
While I have not had the same amazing experiences that James Randi has had. I have had some rather remarkable experiences that I would say are above what the average person experiences. It was nice to hear him be so positive about how he has lived his life. I wish we all could reach that point and move forward with logic and reason.
Easy mistake to make, I guess. I gotta admit I didn't actually have a clue where it was other than Eastern Europe until looking it up after seeing your comment...
... and share those experiences, so that the next generation stands taller on our shoulders than we have stood on the shoulders of those before who shared their experiences with us.
The old man has good memory, but he still managed to mix up a detail: Auschwitz (town Oświęcim) is deeply in Poland, almost half of Germany's largest dimension away from German border, i.e. not even particularly close.
I imagine at such an age when many of your friends have passed and most of the world has changed from what it was long ago, you get a little dis-enchanted with the current crop of the world. But it's worth noting, James, that some of us admire you even in our naive youth, and aim to explore life like you do. ;)
Dear Mr. critic, please bear with me, but a few facts are wrong.
- Stonehenge is not in Salisbury, but actually about 10 km outside
- None of the operas you mentioned premiered in Trieste: Rigoletto and La Traviata premiered in Venice in the "Teatro La Fenice", Aida premiered in Cairo.
- Auschwitz is in Poland, as was mentioned by another user
These are just off the top of my head..
well, you told us to pay attention to crooks... I guess you were a good teacher :)

only the elite wealthy superior gang can afford to waste their life, as randi outlines in his frivolous travel experiencialism; the rest of us have the honor of contributing by work, increasingly wage slave labor work as the race to the bottom supports those at the top (the real wasters)... of course randi is no waste in his debunking efforts, its just this SHOULD be a waste of time because we shouldn't have to do it so often - like wasting time with theists to convert them to atheists...
maybe randi can have this kind of ending some day: (as in replicant Roy of Blade Runner) "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die."
of course Roy should have had utube to immortalize himself - to talk about his travels as an enhanced short lived eugenic slave...
What an amazing life you've had Randi. As a young person it makes me think how much I haven't seen and want to. I hope when I'm 80 years old I'll be able to look back and be as happy as you are.
I got pretty choked up when George Carlin died so unexpectedly. I thought he had another 10 years in him. I don't even want to think about how much it would suck without James. I'd watch these 'Randi speaks' vids and read his articles for as long as he could put them out be it 10 years or more.
If you happen to read this Mr. Randi, just know that a lot of people really admire you and love you. I've always been fascinated and entertained with your work. :) Thanks for everything you've done!
i wish i could be as wise as you although you are far far older and have alot of wisdom built over the years..i could never be as logical and collective as you sir..good on you and much respect for you videos and ideals
So... a man comes along... speaks honesty, truth, some wise words, and doesn't bullshit around. And you come and spread hatred, spam, and conspiracy theories.
Oh, and according to your YouTube profile, you're batshit insane by your own admittance.
You're either the scum of the earth, or a devoted, bored troll.
Oh noes! A respectable man with a beard is ruining my delusions! Better go make hateful conspiracy replies on youtube and attempt to ruin his good name!
The most funny thing about this is when they are hit with the truth they close their accountant and make a new one, as they never want to have evidence again that they said this.
Sadly the votebots are still around. But then again youtube become fucked up more by the day. Even the video's are not right anymore that I see. Recommend for you. Someone eating poo. what the heck I never watched video's that had poo involved or used the tags poo. WTH .
Youre 46, and from what I can tell you spend a lot of time trolling James from an account dedicated to it; probably because his common sense crusade has ripped you from your self-induced escapism one too many times - now you must admit Browne's a fraud, you cant communicate with your cats, and the spiritual essence that empowers your mystic-side is really just autism.
Take a page from James: go outside and do something.
Wow, your mentioning of David Dunlap Observatory took me by surprise. Unfortunately it is set to close soon, as it is not much use with the city's light pollution.
Sure, but it is near the frontier... So during this old war times, it was pretty hard to said who is German and who is Polish. Even, sometime, with the people in uniform, it was hard to be sure of the nationality.
At the final, we know it just fucking stupid because it is an human anyway. This is what some of the German did not understand.
I would really like to see James Randi in Most Haunted TV-show. It's so weird to see how they find ghosts in every episode and get connection whit them... and the sceptic isn't really sceptical...
Please mr. Randi try to get in their show. That would be great evidence how they lie to people about ghosts.
I know that Yvette in the show is a dirty faker and the old medium cheater, but I (and I believe many of you) would like to see James Randi busting them.
Wow James, you have done some very amazing things, and you are still the tops in youtube too. Death is such a deeply depressing note in philosophy that my plan is to avoid it if I can. Here is my idea; I will have every neuron in my brain individually replicated in silicon then wired back in. I will become immortal with no loss in stream consciousness.
This and an artificial body, energy supply, maybe some solar panels.. If only they would hurry up with the technology. humph
You're right livetv777, James Randi is proof rather, that wisdom instead comes from a wealth of experience and the clarity of mind to parse out foolishness.

I bet Randi would make livetv777's comments worth a while don't you think :), he would use pure logic and mindblowing intelligence and remarks to make this fellow just empty inside, that is if it already hasn't been done. Best wishes for Randi and hopefully he will be with us many years to come.
"james thinks adding million dollars adds power and validity to his absured claims of denial.he comes from EGO throwing big names around to try impress others.hes very insecure, child like.dout he ever had sex in his intire life, homosexual i suspect."
Be careful livetv, comments like this tells a whole lot more about you than it does about James.
There's still time indeed, and may there be plenty of it! :)
What a remarkable life. And to top it off, Randi can truly say that he's left a positive mark on the world, even though fighting superstition and the suffering it causes will still be an ongoing battle long after he's gone, I'm afraid.
You have a wonderful life Randi, seen many places, know many interesting people (and many stupids too) and done wonderful stuff. To live fully and to construct a better world is up to any1.
Auschwitz was a part of Germany during WWII and for a period before WWI. Either you're 120 years old, or you've got the wrong country, or there's something you're not telling us James. Btw, the great pyramid of Giza is not worth seeing.
We love you James.

While I have not had the same amazing experiences that James Randi has had. I have had some rather remarkable experiences that I would say are above what the average person experiences. It was nice to hear him be so positive about how he has lived his life. I wish we all could reach that point and move forward with logic and reason.

The old man has good memory, but he still managed to mix up a detail: Auschwitz (town Oświęcim) is deeply in Poland, almost half of Germany's largest dimension away from German border, i.e. not even particularly close.
3yE 2 years ago
I imagine at such an age when many of your friends have passed and most of the world has changed from what it was long ago, you get a little dis-enchanted with the current crop of the world. But it's worth noting, James, that some of us admire you even in our naive youth, and aim to explore life like you do. ;)
planetdarwin 2 years ago 2
Dear Mr. critic, please bear with me, but a few facts are wrong.
These are just off the top of my head..

only the elite wealthy superior gang can afford to waste their life, as randi outlines in his frivolous travel experiencialism; the rest of us have the honor of contributing by work, increasingly wage slave labor work as the race to the bottom supports those at the top (the real wasters)... of course randi is no waste in his debunking efforts, its just this SHOULD be a waste of time because we shouldn't have to do it so often - like wasting time with theists to convert them to atheists...
glorp896 2 years ago
maybe randi can have this kind of ending some day: (as in replicant Roy of Blade Runner) "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die."
of course Roy should have had utube to immortalize himself - to talk about his travels as an enhanced short lived eugenic slave...
glorp896 2 years ago
What an amazing life you've had Randi. As a young person it makes me think how much I haven't seen and want to. I hope when I'm 80 years old I'll be able to look back and be as happy as you are.

I got pretty choked up when George Carlin died so unexpectedly. I thought he had another 10 years in him. I don't even want to think about how much it would suck without James. I'd watch these 'Randi speaks' vids and read his articles for as long as he could put them out be it 10 years or more.

livetv777,
Get a life. Seriously.
Take a page from James: go outside and do something.

myktrue 2 years ago

This and an artificial body, energy supply, maybe some solar panels.. If only they would hurry up with the technology. humph
