@beenthere1011 Thank you very much! Paul continues to amaze me with his seemingly neverending outpouring of great songs. This one is so haunting, isn't it?
@DarthVaderVoldemort Thank you very much! I went to your site. You've only been playing for 3 months??? You are going to be great! I was still struggling with the F chord at that level! I bet you'd like my handsome son, Sam. He's 16, and really loves Silent Hill and Resident Evil. See ya... ~Jon
Your right Ive got a sample of a Duduk, and it does produce a throaty human voice sound. It also came with a lot of middle eastern licks that I don't think would be possible to create unless you could play the instrument but anyway enjoyed your rendition.
That wind instrument is called a Duduk. It's an Armenian woodwind flute, and has become fairly popular lately here in the western world. It is entirely haunting and human sounding. Listen for it in the Gladiator filmscore. I tried to play one for real, but I do not have the fingerspan for it. Thank you so much for your encouraging comments! ~Jon
I suppose it does have sort of the feel of "Blackbird", but then you might expect that. Ever guitar player has certain forms they return to from time to time. One of the things that makes Paul so memorable is the girth of variety he offers. He can slide from something as melodic as "Jenny Wren" to something as psychotic as "Helter Skelter" with ease. Thank you!
I think it must be Paul's unique voice that is the glue between all his songs. He is difficult to catagorize; perhaps because he is the inspiration for many others.
Wow, this was fantastic. You did an excellent job! Not only did you rock the guitar to it, you rocked the vocals! 5 stars all the way man. Keep doing what you're doing.
Yes, Paul has a knack for making the intricate sound simple, when in reality, there are many tough turns in this piece. I was amazed the first time I heard it, and was determined to give it a shot. Thank you for watching, and commenting so nicely! ~Jon

Hey dude, I'm 61 years old, and a musician. Saw the Beatles live, picked up Blackbird in about 3 months after it first came out what in 67.. Lot of people still can't do it lol.
This is beautiful. You are an excellent musician, vocally and instrumentally. Excellent work my man.
Man, I wish I could have seen them perform! Hey - you should post yourself playing "Blackbird". It is a tricky one, huh? Thank you for your great comments, I appreciate all the support and encouragement. ~Jon
I've been checking covers to see what people come up with and this is by far the best one I found. Keep up the acoustics/echo you got going on, adds flavor.
I tell you, the reverb saves me all the time! It's amazing what a touch of reverb can do for the sound of a piece. There are so many good covers of this great song out there, so I truly appreciate your kind words. Thank you. ~Jon
Wow... coming from such a fan as you, I truly take this as a great compliment! My wife believes Paul and I have a kindred spirit. There's my wife's spectacular chicken pie dinner in it if you come! Thanks again, MrsVanderbilt!
It did not take too long to find the chords, but it took a while to be able to sing AND play at the same time. Paul's songs are deceptively difficult, but he makes it all seem so easy, doesn't he? Thank you!

Did you hear about my video from Kris Shred? You know, I believe Kris is becoming something of a crossroads of musicians here on YouTube. All roads lead to Kris! Ha... thank you for the very kind comments. I hope Macca himself takes a peek! Jon

Yeah... it looks as though it would be a simple song to play, but in fact it was very difficult; especially since Paul makes it seem soooooo easy. Thanks, Cyril
