well I've been reading up to the current chapter and he hasn't died yet. I've Also been reading about what the author plans to do in the future. She's been researching The Shinsengumi of course, and she said she has not found true evidence that Okita did die of Tuberculosis. If she was going to make him die, he should of started coughing up blood a long time ago. The author also said she's not going to follow everything that happened in history. If she did, Sei wouldn't even exist!!

yes,sadly he does die but from tuberculous when he is 25 so he has about 2 more years to go because he is about 23 now in the manga
