@amysmosquito "periodontal disease = gingivitis" ... Not necessarily. Gingivitis does turn into periodontal disease, but they are not exactly the same thing. You see, gingivitis is reversible while periodontal disease is not. The reason being is that periodontal disease indicates some type of gingival recession or bone loss in the mouth, which does not grow back. However, it can be prevented from getting worse. Gingivitis is reversible because that could be inflammation.
my ex girlfriends brother would always drink cola, he's 22 and has no teeth. he doesn't want dentures, crazy thing is he is married to a decent looking chick.
he can't eat things like chicken, crackers, peanuts, etc. He's only able to eat soft foods like jello, mashed potatoes and soggy vegetables.
you only need to rinse your mouth out with water after eating/drinking something acidic. I too would always drink carbonated beverages, but I'm always drinking water. On top of brushing twice a day.
it does a lot more than that. soda also causes enamel to wear down and soften. exposing the dentine and increasing the risk of cavities and abscesses. he never brushed his teeth, he had all his teeth removed at the age of 20
The best way to get rid of skin disorders is to use the method that will clear it completely and that will have no reoccurrances. Why on earth would anyone let their teeth get that bad? There had to be some point where they looked in the mirror and said hey - i better get something done before I lose some teeth! Where the hell are their priorities???
How much trouble is it to go to the bathroom and brush/floss/rince twice a day.....seriously. I used to chew tobacco and smoke, yet my teeth look fine because I actually make an effort to keep them clean and healthy.
I took care of a patient with teeth like that and they wouldn't let anybody brush them cuz it was painful. I wanted to slap their kids for letting them get that bad. First thing I would have done was send my parents to the dentist to have them pulled if they couldn't be saved.
@sexything72 I wouldn't doubt that's why she's still single. Would you want to kiss someone with bleeding gums and a mouth that smelled like a sewer? Nothing turns off a person more than rotting teeth and smelly breath!
There are some people, like myself, who even with extremely good dental habits, cannot stop periodontal disease and bone loss. But the person in this video deserved to lose their teeth and will. It is too late. When you have tartar caked so high that you can't see the tooth anymore it is all over.
Your teeth may bleed after brushing them from not brushing or flossing in a long time. Hopefully that's the case and brush and floss regulary to prevent anything serious, if the bleeding continues after brushing regulary I suggest seeing your dentist.
:[ Can somebody plz answer this--- Whenever i start brushing my teeth it starts bleeding :( im scared about if i have a gum disease D: because im only 13 and idk what to do ... is it from not brushing my teeth??? has anybody else had this happen?? im just soooo scared D: plz answer!!

Oh thats what they mean by loosing of the teeth. i was lossing my mind over the tiniest fraction of a wiggle. i am very releaved but am still going to the dentist this month. :)
also.. how the fuck did his teeth fuse together into 1 mega tooth? Is that just something he had from birth or has he been drinking some messed up shit?
some of my baby teeth a long time ago would crack into tiny pieces and i had to pull the out one by one and now the second tooth back from my caynine teeth lost a little piece out of it its a baby tooth
Not going to a dentist isn't too bad, my grandfather hasn't gone to the dentist in almost 30 years now, and he has never had problems with his teeth. You only need a dentist once something gets really bad, as long as you brush once/twice a day.
@cocacolaligification Your recommendation to wait for things to "get really bad" would not be good advice IMO. If you catch problems early it will cost you less and save you time in the dental chair. Your Grandfather is unique most people would not be able to stay away from the dentist for 30 years without a serious problem. Consider one third of adult Americans over 65 years old do not have any teeth.
@johnddscom Im saying that you don't need to go to the dentist as long as you keep your teeth in good shape, you should go to the dentist only if you get a problem which a toothbrush can't fix ;)
Uh don't forget flossing. And once a day isn't enough. You need to go to a dentist for teeth cleaning, wisdom teeth removal, carie inspection, etc. Don't be so smug.
@johnddscom Exactly. I know folks in their 20's who don't take care of their teeth and are loosing them. By the time they turn 40, they won't have any left. Sad.
I can tell you countless stories of folks who would buy gadgets and everything else, and won't spend a dime towards saving their teeth.
@cocacolaligification Not true! I have gum disease and lost 4 teeth and brush two/three times a day. I go to my dentist every three months for cleanings and still have problems.
Is being an open-mouthed breather at night one of the main reasons why my gums still bleed when I brush them? (Meaning, I sleep and breathe out my mouth when I'm asleep)
@johnddscom Of course! My next appointment is Jan. 1 2011 and my dentist said probably the reason for it being so inflamed might be due to me breathing through my mouth at night, but I brush and floss EVERY NIGHT, so he just told me to keep it up and they'll see how they turn out. So far, it's gone down just a little, but it's still noticeable.
@Shirrage That can be part of the problem, but another problem could be not brushing well enough or not flossing enough. You should be brushing for 2 minutes in the morning, and 2 minutes in the evening before bed time. Floss at least once a day and use mouth rinse twice a day, preferably Listerine so long as you don't have a dry mouth. If you do have a dry mouth then use an alcohol free mouth rinse.
@Sallyallie89 Well, I do thirty seconds of brushing on both sides -- front of the teeth and back on both rows -- and in total it equals to two minutes. I also spend a total of twenty seconds on the roof of my mouth, and ten seconds on my tongue -- five for the bristles on the brush and five for the tongue brush on the tooth brush. I, too, floss once a day and I always rinse everyday, but once every day. Alcohol-free? I thought those didn't help as much as the regular acohol based ones.
@Shirrage Are you on any medications or have any illnesses? Sometimes the daily meds we take, or an illness such as a disease, could cause you to be more susceptible to periodontal disease. If this isn't the case then I would check with your dentist to see what he/she recommends. This way they can at least look at your gingiva, look at the meds you might be taking if you're taking any, look into any illnesses you might have, and figure out a solution.
@Sallyallie89 No, I'm never on any sorts of medication. If I were on any, then I would be full aware of the reason behind my gums being inflamed. All I'm getting from my dentist is that I just have inflamed gums due to breathing through my mouth when I sleep and not being able to brush and floss in the mornings since I'm being rushed to school. So, that might be the reason behind my gums being inflamed so much.
@Shirrage They are correct in this case. When you breath through your mouth it dries your mouth out, resulting in inflammation. Some people breathe through their mouth due to having a stuffy nose from a cold, flu, etc. While others just simply can't help the fact that they breathe through their mouth at night. I'm one of these people who can't help but open my mouth while I sleep. Sometimes sleeping on my side helps close my mouth more though.
Floss 3.00 bucks. Toothpaste 5.00 bucks ( Tom & Mane recommended ). Mouth wash about 5 bucks. That's 13 dollars to save your teeth vs thousands of dollars to repair your teeth.
I'm a dental nurse, and I love anything with pus or blood, anything gory!
....
But perio..... I just can't handle it. Teeth are not suppose to be mobile!!! Creeps me out.... *shudder* I could never be a hygienist....
Bleeding gums require a dentist and interdental cleaning. To have good teeth it's real simple, brush your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste twice a day, clean between the teeth, chew sugar free gum and limit sugar consumption. And pay the dentist a visit at least yearly!
Well, if your gums are bleeding it coulde be that you have gingivitis, but don't worry too much because it is reversible. If you can, brush your teeth 2 times a day and floss and if you don't have access to a tooth brush, chew a sugarless gum for about 2 minutes and rinse with water. If you don't have insurance or if you do, try to go to the dentist and get a prophylaxis(cleaning) and go for another visit in six months.
@rollen01 Your gums should never bleed when you brush or floss. If they do I would recommend you visit a dentist to see if you have gum disease. In the mean time continue to brush and floss your teeth and gums.
@rollen01 It could also be that you are brushing to hard, my teeth and gums are fine, yet the bleed a bit around the teeth because I sometimes brush hard.
@rollen01 ok just i had it to but you need to brush for 2 minutes 3 times a day mouthwash before and after each bruching and also floss do this for 4 to 6 weeks and you will be cured
@prozombiehunter Totally agree with you. I did the same thing and my gums stoped bleeding and my sensitivity went down as well. Listerine is a god send!
@rollen01 I'm a dentist, and it sounds like you don't brush and floss frequently enough IMO. Most people have to religiously brush and floss 3-4 times a day, every day in order to prevent bleeding gums. If you skip a few days here and there, your gums will surely bleed again. And he is right, they should never bleed if you do it regularly - so if they still do, you might have periodontal (gum) disease.
@johnddscom ..hi johndds...question..forgive my ignorance but why is the patient's teeth so ackwardly shaped?...Is that due to the advanced periodontal disease?
@msqundhari A WaterPick is a name brand for an oral litigator. It is basically a water hose (power washer) for your mouth. It will flush out things you can not even see.
my gums bleed when i brush my teeth and most of my friends do too when i had asked them..it seems like a pretty common thing and my teeth are healthy...is the description really true?
@Firemaker100 Gums should never bleed. No different than should your arm bleed if you brushed or flossed it. Think about it. Your gums and your arm are made of the same type of tissue. Whatever you do to your arm that makes it bleed, that is the same amount of pressure or force necessary to make your gums bleed. I recommend an electric toothbrush, such as Vitality by Oral-B ($20) and a water pick ($40) for one week; see if this helps you.
@Firemaker100 do you brush your teeth often? cuz it happpens alot when people dont brush there trrth alot. it happend to me with flosing will i did it alot and it stoped
Man, his teeth look like a modern artwork. Makes me glad that I visit the dentist every 6 months for a checkup (altough those bastards are high in price).
Did a study on this... if you will floss your teeth every day, especially before bed, it will go a long way in preventing this kind of thing. I went to the dentist for a cavity and it was the first time I had been there in 20 years or more. He told me if I hadn't come in I'd be losing my other teeth to this disease. He cleaned them and I immediately started flossing and the depth between teeth and gums went from 7 mil to 2 and 3 mil deep in less than a year. It's cheap and it works folks. Floss!
I m sorry because i missed some in above that What a good conversation , really i m amazing. For Periodontal may check out my videos.......

And pay the dentist a visit at least yearly!
stephaniedee24 1 year ago
if you can't get to a toothbrush or floss; chew on on some grass or tree bark, that's what negros do
EvanQuinn07 1 year ago
Well, if your gums are bleeding it coulde be that you have gingivitis, but don't worry too much because it is reversible. If you can, brush your teeth 2 times a day and floss and if you don't have access to a tooth brush, chew a sugarless gum for about 2 minutes and rinse with water. If you don't have insurance or if you do, try to go to the dentist and get a prophylaxis(cleaning) and go for another visit in six months.

my gums bleed when i brush and floss but i've been trying to do it regularly. what do you recommend i should do :(?
rollen01 1 year ago
@rollen01 Your gums should never bleed when you brush or floss. If they do I would recommend you visit a dentist to see if you have gum disease. In the mean time continue to brush and floss your teeth and gums.
johnddscom 1 year ago
@johnddscom Or find another alternative to floss. I mean, if it makes your gums bleed, its a bit stupid to continue doing it that way.
angelix 1 year ago
@rollen01 It could also be that you are brushing to hard, my teeth and gums are fine, yet the bleed a bit around the teeth because I sometimes brush hard.
Crysis482 1 year ago
@rollen01 ok just i had it to but you need to brush for 2 minutes 3 times a day mouthwash before and after each bruching and also floss do this for 4 to 6 weeks and you will be cured
prozombiehunter 1 year ago
@prozombiehunter Totally agree with you. I did the same thing and my gums stoped bleeding and my sensitivity went down as well. Listerine is a god send!
JoesGLI 1 year ago
@rollen01 I'm a dentist, and it sounds like you don't brush and floss frequently enough IMO. Most people have to religiously brush and floss 3-4 times a day, every day in order to prevent bleeding gums. If you skip a few days here and there, your gums will surely bleed again. And he is right, they should never bleed if you do it regularly - so if they still do, you might have periodontal (gum) disease.
ddsgolfedge 1 year ago
@rollen01 - johnnddscom is correct about this. See a dentist quick! I brush at least 3 times a day and floss every night and my gums never bleed.

What's a water pick?
msqundhari 1 year ago
@msqundhari A WaterPick is a name brand for an oral litigator. It is basically a water hose (power washer) for your mouth. It will flush out things you can not even see.
johnddscom 1 year ago
@johnddscom Oooh...thanks!
msqundhari 1 year ago
@johnddscom Waterpicks can NOT 'flush out' tartar and the pressure inside is hardly comparable to a water hose.

my gums bleed when i brush my teeth and most of my friends do too when i had asked them..it seems like a pretty common thing and my teeth are healthy...is the description really true?
Firemaker100 1 year ago
@Firemaker100 Gums should never bleed. No different than should your arm bleed if you brushed or flossed it. Think about it. Your gums and your arm are made of the same type of tissue. Whatever you do to your arm that makes it bleed, that is the same amount of pressure or force necessary to make your gums bleed. I recommend an electric toothbrush, such as Vitality by Oral-B ($20) and a water pick ($40) for one week; see if this helps you.

@johnddscom
hey man what is a water pick?
DavyDave1313 1 year ago
@DavyDave1313 i think its like pressured water and u clean ur teeth with it its kinda like flossing but instead its a powerful water sprayer

johnddscom 1 year ago
Did a study on this... if you will floss your teeth every day, especially before bed, it will go a long way in preventing this kind of thing. I went to the dentist for a cavity and it was the first time I had been there in 20 years or more. He told me if I hadn't come in I'd be losing my other teeth to this disease. He cleaned them and I immediately started flossing and the depth between teeth and gums went from 7 mil to 2 and 3 mil deep in less than a year. It's cheap and it works folks. Floss!
Thistlesifter220 1 year ago
@Thistlesifter220 Good advice! Also consider an electric toothbrush and water pick.
