I played a BM Hunter during TBC, was very fun, Nowadays everyone goes for Survival, wich to me seems really boring even tho i havent played it that much yet, started one recently just to try it out, but i'll bet it will end up of going BM or Marksman ;D tho i guess if u gonna raid u want to maximize your dps so.... one thing you did forget to mention is that some pets have the same buffs as other classes. they dont stack, you need to make sure you switch to a pet that doesnt have any stacking buffs. like the spirit beasts have the same buff as a warriors battle shout, and a corehound has a similar buff to bloodlust.

ye you dont need to level pets anymore they automatically level up to your current level. Also choosing to just get a basic pet is completely nerfing your self. you can get a spirit beast that will be ferocity and will have a special heal or if you want a core hound it will have bloodlust/heroism. those basic pets dont have any special abilities that makes going bm worth getting

mastery is extremely important in BM just saying it increases dmg done by ur pet wich is your main sorce of dmg then crit then haste im not counting agil or hit because it is obviouse gem all agi and get caped on hit but after those 2 you should reforge out of haste and into mastery or crit depending on wich is not on that piece and BM is actually used plenty by people in high end guilds its vary viable but only issue with it is u rely so much on ur pet if for some reason ur pet dies you are out
