  • Oh wow I am tripping.Ping and pong,Merlin and Mop Top.

  • Sounds like a song that ought to be sung to Santa. LOL!

  • It's on the album "Meet The Brady Bunch".

  • I loved this cartoon religiously back ever since Kindergarten when it came out (The Brady Bunch in general was still new then), and even as a child I got a kick out of how they reused animation from The Archies.

But I preferred this cartoon to The Archives not just because it was The Bradys, but especially because The Brady Kids were blessed with far surperior tunes.

Oh, and I always loved how Jan gets the special closing bit in this song. ;)

  • I've been looking for this specific clip since i was a kid. this mix is much better than the album version.

  • @Shteve67 This is on an album?

  • Both "The Archie Show" and "The Brady Kids" were produced by Filmation; as was common practice with studios that did limited animation, there was a *lot* of artwork that was re-used, which included the basic model sheets.

It was easier from a production standpoint to simply adapt existing material, rather than start from scratch. You'll notice that in the musical footage, most everything is re-used several times, with, say, the background color changed, etc.

    *Much* cheaper that way...

  • @BobBlec Just seems unusual to use the same style sheet for both shows, especially in this case... The Archies had been a hot property between 1968 and 1971, and the animated musical segments were well known, having been broadcast in prime-time specials and on Ed Sullivan. When Brady Kids came out in 1972, the Archies were no longer doing musical segments (until later in 1974) but that was still only a year's difference, and they should have made unique model sheets for Brady Kids.

  • @windsorbear It was the same *basic* model sheets, anyway, i.e., the studio's art style. The most notable similarities were with the musical numbers. If you compare this vid with *any* of the Archies songs, almost everything is *exactly* the same; the way the characters are positioned, their movements, etc. Greg = Archie, Peter = Reggie, Jan = Veronica, Bobby = Jughead, Marcia = Betty. Cindy is the only one who wasn't analogous to any of the Archies, since there were only 5 of them.

  • @BobBlec Yep, it's the musical numbers I am talking about. That's the issue I have always had about The Brady Kids series. My theory is that since Don Kirshner broke ties with Filmation to provide the series with musical numbers after the "Archie's Funhouse" season of 1970 and 71, Filmation decided to use the basic model sheets of The Archies for the Brady Kids in 1972, thinking they would never need to use them for The Archies again. But they were wrong.
