@solojuve1897 I think you've got it the wrong way around and are confusing the concept of a theory with that of a hypothesis. For example you need facts to create a theory, not the reverse as you suggested. A hypothesis on the other hand requires no factual basis.
@durendin No, I'm not confusing anything. I know the difference between a hypothesis and a scientific theory. In the end it's nothing but a theory. Study the history of science and how theories which people that to be true in the 50s have been disregarded today. This happens all the time. Today the theory of relativity is under question due to the results coming out of CERN. The so called evolution theory is nothing but a theory. Sheldon is a moron, or let me say, the producers of the series.
Uh yes it does ever heard of galileo? It also says the earth is flat, stationary and the sun was created after the earth. But noone expected you to know what the fuck you're on about dumbarse.
I agree with Sheldon. Nothing can make someone want to go back to friends who you had a bitter argument with than having to deal with the dumbest alternative there is - trying to teach Creationists facts.
@alphacause - Sorry kid, Evolution is pure theory - and a dead theory at that - a rotting corpse on parade for the delusional morons. Your two "facts" are ignorant opinions presented as ridicule - engaging in classic "ad hominem" - and ridicule is not an argument.
@TheJazzocaster All your response does is demonstrate that you don't know what a theory is, because if you did know what a theory is you would know that saying something is a "pure theory" does not diminish its credibility, but merely bolsters it. Secondly, I am only engaging in ad hominem, because your initial comment, which is what I was responding to, was ad hominem. So it is a bit hypocritical of you to accuse me of something you did first.
if you don't answer you are just proving you have no idea how the universe works, and you just adhere to your pathetic fairytales because they make you feel a little less pathetic.
@Seethus -Yea, that's it, I have no idea how the universe works and the Bible is a collections of "fairytales"! LOL! I see now, your point is to ridicule me for my beliefs based on presuppositional speculations about a subject, the Bible, that you display an ignorance of - You're a bigoted moron.
Again - you're stupidity is only exceeded by your ignorance; And ridicule is not an argument. Pull your head out of your ass kid and wash the muck from your skull.
Allright before anyone gets the idea to label the Theory of Evolution just a "theory" please remember that a "theory" in scientific terms is more of a collection of proveable hypotheses and factual observation than an idea so supporting a theory in science means that you support the facts and evidence that the "Theory" presents.
@xXFailCakeXx hehehe true but it will be up to the science to find that out and right know the evidence is almost overwhelmingly in favor for the theory of evolution by natural selection.
@xXFailCakeXx well, using the phrase "wrong" is kind of harsh. throughout scientific history, each theory is transcended by something more correct. Newtonian physics to Einstein is an example. Newton wasnt entirely "wrong", he just didnt get the whole picture. So was Einstein, and so will be whoever starts the next scientific revolution. And so on and so on until we solve science.
@Kienkaro THANK YOU. Seriously, you don't know how many times I've gotten into arguments with creationists who's sole argument stemmed from their misunderstanding of the word "theory" as it means to a scientist.
@xXFailCakeXx i respectfully disagree. Evolution is a proven fact in some aspects, but when it comes to human evolution and natural selection, the data found only supports it as a theory, and not a fact. It seems to me evolution is only considered fact by those who support the 'theory'
Laurie Metcalfe is so under rated as an actrress, she held herown with Roseanne, kicked ass on Absolutely Fabulous as a fraudulent psychic, not to mention countless movies such as SCREAM, and Making Mr RIGHT
The woman how play's Sheldon's mother portrays an excellent example of southern baptist ignorance, lovely as she may be. I just find it hard to believe that these people are taught that in all this time "God" just slipped His almighty mind and forgot to include the adaptation of species. LOL
@Kubinda12345 It's the "Chinese having thin eyes" and "third world demon" jokes that cut it kinda close. I do admit it was funny hearing it the first time.
@bahamasartits they tricked him into thinking he actually had achieved positive results on the research they were doing in the North Pole. Sheldon thought he had confirmed Strign Theory or something like that, and that he was gonna win a Nobel Prize, so he sent an e-mail telling all people at the university what happened just to find out it was all a lie and he had to humiliate himself withdrawing his statement at the university.
This is EXACTLY how it is in South Carolina. Especially about evolution. You wouldn't imagine the grief that my parents and I get (I'm a biology major and they're biology professors) around here about that...
Before I got to university, evolution wasn't even covered in public schools. The teachers refused to talk about it. I think it's been removed from the state standards since then... so much ignorance...
Rushingwind - Sheldon's mom does not "force" him to pray. He is in her home and she is his son. She had a right to have her beliefs respected. I am no longer Catholic but if I go to a Catholic church I still genuflect before entering a pew Or crossing in front of the monstrance. When I visited a Buddhist temple I showed respect for their beliefs without violating my own. Tolerance works both ways.
Would all you intolerant people who want to trash different groups of people based on how they are portrayed in a friggin' sitcom please go somewhere else to make your comments.
Sheldon does not insult people because his mother insults people. He insults people because it's funny. Laurie Metcalf did not raise him to insult people and Christians in Texas do not make comments about "third world demons" running around in people. She said it because the writers thought it would be funny. And it w
@KingKraid not at all. Look at Islam - all the people blowing places up, are they doing it because they're naturally psychopaths? No, they're doing it because of being forced into religion (the penalty for leaving Islam is death). Forcing someone into one of those things also creates blind faith - the same blind faith that would have resulted in most people murdering a guy if the Milgram experiments were for real (look them up) - only that was blind faith in a supposed "professor".
@KingKraid I never said Christianity was an evil religion. And it doesn't matter who's home it is, you have no right to force your views on someone else. You think if it was a nudist house she'd have the right to force visitors to strip naked?
well... now i know where sheldon got his 'problem'.. sheldon insults people base on their intelligence whereas his mom insults people through religion and race... am i right?
Mrs. Cooper has probably spent 25 minutes of her bible-reading on the Creationist account, and 30 on the parts of the Bible that most rational people think are absurd. Christians like her have irrational, semi-thought out views. Those views are not representative of the whole faith.
@gulbirk Oh there is evidence. 2 years of Theology will tell you that - it taught me that. Whether or not it's the truth is another matter.
But I don't want to get drawn into a religious debate - the debates about religion on YouTube are never debates - they're often just trash talking, with theists and atheists resorting to slagging each other off, and I'm sorry, but I don't respect that. Not saying you'd do that, obviously, but you know what I mean.
""Oh there is evidence. 2 years of Theology will tell you that - it taught me that. Whether or not it's the truth is another matter."" ? evidence is only evidence if it is true. If not, its just a story. Which is how I view the bible.
@gulbirk There is a theologian called Flavius Josephus. He writes about how another "Disciple" is present in the land who calls himself "Jesus." He wrote from a relatively neutral (though very pro-Roman) point of view. So that's how people know there definitely was a person going around in those days called Jesus. And there exist many eyewitness accounts. I can't go into detail, because I've forgotten most of it, but that's the nitty gritty.
@Wattywatasaurus Again. Very few serious people denide that jesus probably was an historical figure. Just like very few serious people denide that "Olav den hellige" (a norwegian king existed). Never the less, just because I admitt Olav den hellige existed does not mean that I believe everything written about him. If that was how we recorded history, then so many things would have to be assumed to be true, because its written in a book.
Most theologian will admit that the records of Josephus were tampered with & added too hundreds of yrs after the events by clergy. Outside that there is zero mention of him by any of the dozen known historians of the time. there aren't any eyewitness accounts either only oral stories that were passed down for decades before being written down in another country by people who spoke a different language.
Josephus is well known to be a forgery. There's some incredibly brief references to Jesus which are completely out of character and context for Josephesus' work in there, which have been demonstrated to be later additions by christians.
And I always hear about these so called eye witness accounts but I've never seen any of them.
even though I don not agree with the religious ideas of Mrs Sheldon, I like her: she's such a loving mother. Poor Leonard needs to have her as a mother. He and Sheldon should switch mothers
Actually, she did all this on purpose - she simply knew how to get to her son - she knew his weak spot. That last her comment explained it ;) And yeah, she's loving, caring mother who also instinctively knows how to subtely convey a message - like she did later with Amy.
@kurokujira4913 Yes some are. My BF is from Texas, he told me horror stories about how some church he went to (with a friend) tried to burn him at the steak for being open minded. Granted him being pagan at the time didn't help, but he didn't flaunt it. He was just asking questions.
@kurokujira4913 Yes, although she isn't her character is a portrayal of some of the stubborn right wing christians, who reject the theory of evolution and therefore will burn in the big black hole :D
Some people in Texas really are. Oddly enough, the city of Denton that Sheldon is supposedly from is actually very different from this stereotype as a whole, mostly due to the acclaimed musical university located there, as there is a surprising amount of people who are open about their sexuality and religious identification that do not even get picked on or singled out.
I'm one of them.
But maybe Sheldon is from a different part of town than I. There are exceptions to every norm.
@STNeish I doubt it, my friend. Laurie Metcalf never has been nor ever will be a leading lady, but she's always had a great body, particularly in the legs. (Not to mention, she's one hell of an actress.)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
why the FUCK does sheldon love his mother? if my mother were this much of a religious nut i'd want her to fucking die a miserable painful death as soon as possible.
Since when did the evolution theory become bulletproof fact? Typical Hollywood-propaganda: Promoting homosexuality and ateism.

@kurokujira4913 Yes, although she isn't her character is a portrayal of some of the stubborn right wing christians, who reject the theory of evolution and therefore will burn in the big black hole :D

@kurokujira4913

@STNeish No, and if you watch some 3rd rock and SNL reruns you'll notice how big her titties are too ;)
