Amazing car... Whenever it revs. I get chills going through me. No other car makes a noise like that. Even if it doesn't have the pedigree of other brands such as lamborghini or ferrari, for a first try it's amazing.
What an amazing car. I hate the fact the Top Gear is so biased towards Lexus. The fact that Lexus still don't make a profit at that £340,000 price tag means a huge amount because it must be amazingly well built. It's like the Bugatti Veyron. I think that car costs like £5 million to make and they sell it for £1m? Think about it, other manufactuters make a huge margin while these to amazing machines are built without compromise. I love the LFA.

my only complaint with the actual product the LFA is the front light design. I wanted the stripped down headlight design from concept yet its never made into final production. Same issue that goes with the GTR. Why cant companies stick to their initial sense of creativity in the concept art? screw the concept haters and stop being so generic with the final products
They only made 500 of them, that and the fact the car has more carbon fiber than practically any other road car out there is why it costs so much. If I could spend $400k with no worries, I'd buy it.

They say they dont know why the LFA cost $350,000. If i have $350,000 for a car, LFA will be my first choice over GTR or Lambo or a Porsche, even those may be cheaper.

People don't know a nissan p800 accelerates 0-60 in 2,9sec. I prefer a camaro supercharged, a corvette, a charger dodge or a GTR and supra than a 430 modena.
@mpalm887 Well you're right. Actually I would be more than happy with a GTR. But someone who has the money to buy a LFA or even a Ferrari can still feed some families. Most people who can afford a supercar can also afford a very expensive life. I mean, even if I had just the exact amount for a LFA, still I woudn't buy one nor a Ferrari or any other supercar. I'd rather use the money for paying my college, buy a decent house, do some traveling or things like that.

@karthik11512 Because Lexus' have historically been "riders" cars as opposed to "drivers" cars. Soft suspension, no feedback from the steering or the tires. Sorta something your 60 year old uncle would enjoy, They are good, reliable cars but not a lot of fun, generally.

2010-11 nissan gtr spec -v spanks this car, from a rolling start a stand still and around the track over paying for this vehicle and it looks unfinished only thing I like is the digital display for the gauges everything else needs more works and more design

If I recall, wet laps are considered 4 seconds slower than dry laps. If you look at 10:18, you can see the Ferrari 599 at 121.27, where as the Lexus LFA would be 1:18.8. I know the LFA is hugely expensive but just figured I would mention it

If I recall, they said any wet time should have 4 seconds taken off, which means this would be 1:18.8 which is arial atom territory (which i guess kinda makes this car look bad if you compare it speficically to that car) I guess I should say it goes into carerra GT time
@briancpas Dude, I have to agree that japanese engineers are awesome when they decide to build performance cars, they just go so deep in details. They propably succeded where the Bugatti failed : being a national automobile enginnering achievement and offering the driver a car that fells alive...BUT, unlike european manufacturers, they took 10 freakin years to build it...that's just not defendable. As a result, it's already almost out of age...The same problem goes with GT5 for example.
@briancpas and in away, it reminds of the idea behind my 2 all time favorite cars that are the McLaren F1 and the Carrera GT (which make a sound very similar actually). Because I don't have the money, I don't care about the price of the car, plus because they are not making money of this car, I wouldn't feel cheated.
japanese, american, european cars are all great for being special^^ europeans often have the best technology, but by now, japanese are doing that aspect VERY well also (nissan gtr e.g.), american cars have kind of a "soul" although they are not technically brilliant and have TORQUE xD

They didn't use an electronic tachometer because the analog one couldn't keep up so much as that the electronic one is 20x more accurate. in fact the analog one can keep up, it's just ugly and everything is headed towards electronic technologies. mechanical shit can go fuck itself is what i'm getting at :)
I was unbelievably lucky last week ... got to drive this car on the racetrack. UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE. I have never driven anything close to this before. Makes my Audi TT seem like a shopping cart.

and watch clarkson's review of the 599 he says its all maths and science no passion or soul which is what you said ferrari is about, cant use the laptimes round their track unfortunatly cause the LFA was in the wet those 2 ferrari's were in the dry, but they reckon its 4 seconds slower in wet so its 1.22 would be 1.18 which is faster then the 458 and 599
@Hohenstaufen100 Lexus has a race car the SC430 GT500 and Toyota had the Group C car the Minolta etc and the GTONE, id buy a LFA over a ferrari anyday it looks and sounds better (personal opinion)
This week I had a lecture on the use of carbon fiber materials in the automotive industry. When ever the professor wanted to show the "state of the art" that is, the best that is currently available, he showed parts of the Lexus LFA.
A German professor for automotive engineering at Germany's leading university for engineerin giving credit to Lexus. This is unprecedented! All examples they usually show are BMW, Audi and Mercedes! Finally. I allways knew Lexus makes the better cars! :-)
i can see his point yes and no doubt this is a very very good engineering achievement taking in to consideration everything said about it, but im just saying that its a bold claim saying a company like Ferarri hasnt had such achievements. Like i said take the 599 for example, has the V12 engine from the enzo, designed like a luxury sports car yet is still as fast as race specific cars such as the LFA.
All you guys complaining about the price. Do you guys not realize how much R&D went into constructing this? Do you not realize how much a full Carbon Fiber body is worth?

they didnt care that they are losing money making the LFA's. Lexus/Toyota built this car to showcase that they can also engineer super cars and compete with other top of line super cars.

@rwian awkward because Lexus can't seem to step ahead of BMW. Have you ever driven a Lexus? The handling is shocking. They are the best Japanese cars but they're still miles behind most European luxury car companies.
@jamiegk HAHAH, i OWN a 10 year old IS200. Im not sure what sort of car you were driving but i've found that the Lexus handling is great.... and as for reliability? Well, i've never had any major problems with my car. Compare that to my friend's 7 year old 318i, he has spent almost 3k on electrical and engine problems this year alone.
The price tag on the LFA is simply outlandish. If you want a sophisticated yet ugly Japanese supercar you can get a Nissan GT-R Spec V for a fraction of the price (yes, I do realize they are totally different cars). Personally, I'd take the Ferrari 458 over this x-box on wheels any day. Of course I'll never be able to afford either one of those. ;)

@SiulF1 You got it. People think ferrari or lambo is ever better than the rest, they don't know a GTR r35 or a Toyota supra, or a good lexus can be, and in fact is, better than other cars so much expensive than them.
People don't know a nissan p800 accelerates 0-60 in 2,9sec. I prefer a camaro supercharged, a corvette, a charger dodge or a GTR and supra than a 430 modena.

@mpalm887 Well you're right. Actually I would be more than happy with a GTR. But someone who has the money to buy a LFA or even a Ferrari can still feed some families. Most people who can afford a supercar can also afford a very expensive life. I mean, even if I had just the exact amount for a LFA, still I woudn't buy one nor a Ferrari or any other supercar. I'd rather use the money for paying my college, buy a decent house, do some traveling or things like that.

They remain and upkeep a reputation as being the top most advance f1 team and apply that technology to their road vehicles. off the people spending that kind of money, ..a tiny few care about its capacities on track. They want a name, a badge that appeals and brings reputation to themselves. go to a golf course and youll see

@karthik11512 cause the brand did a marketing faut-pas. They built a ferrari-lambo priced supercar without preparing the auto world with trending versions of each vehicle they produced as fast. They should have created a (speed division) ex: amg, M, S. Then applied their engineering on each model, and after a steady rep was built launched this car. This car comes out of nowhere with a badge that precedes the reputation of grandaddy vehicle apart from the isf... thats my guess.

If they felt it was unfair, they wouldn't have gone ahead with the transaction - that is, there's nothing stopping them going for alternatives and they chose the LFA because they liked it. Why Ferrari is better than other car brand? Do they ever built a family car? A 4X4? A powerful truck? They always produced race cars because of their history, Ferrari was born in tracks. Toyota can built easily a better car to beat the best Ferrari...But Toyota produces EVERYTHING...I would like to see Ferrari showing tecnology developments in hybrid engines, electric cars, etc, like Toyota/Honda/Nissan. That is the thing ,Ferrari sticks to their roots and they build what they build best - supersport cars ,and they are best in it and that is botom line. If I recall, wet laps are considered 4 seconds slower than dry laps. If you look at 10:18, you can see the Ferrari 599 at 121.27, where as the Lexus LFA would be 1:18.8. I know the LFA is hugely expensive but just figured I would mention it

@briancpas Dude, I have to agree that japanese engineers are awesome when they decide to build performance cars, they just go so deep in details. They propably succeded where the Bugatti failed : being a national automobile enginnering achievement and offering the driver a car that fells alive...BUT, unlike european manufacturers, they took 10 freakin years to build it...that's just not defendable. As a result, it's already almost out of age...The same problem goes with GT5 for example.

They didn't use an electronic tachometer because the analog one couldn't keep up so much as that the electronic one is 20x more accurate. in fact the analog one can keep up, it's just ugly and everything is headed towards electronic technologies. mechanical shit can go fuck itself is what i'm getting at :)

and watch clarkson's review of the 599 he says its all maths and science no passion or soul which is what you said ferrari is about, cant use the laptimes round their track unfortunatly cause the LFA was in the wet those 2 ferrari's were in the dry, but they reckon its 4 seconds slower in wet so its 1.22 would be 1.18 which is faster then the 458 and 599

This week I had a lecture on the use of carbon fiber materials in the automotive industry. When ever the professor wanted to show the "state of the art" that is, the best that is currently available, he showed parts of the Lexus LFA.
A German professor for automotive engineering at Germany's leading university for engineerin giving credit to Lexus. This is unprecedented! All examples they usually show are BMW, Audi and Mercedes! Finally. I allways knew Lexus makes the better cars! :-)

Well, i've never had any major problems with my car. Compare that to my friend's 7 year old 318i, he has spent almost 3k on electrical and engine problems this year alone.

The price tag on the LFA is simply outlandish. If you want a sophisticated yet ugly Japanese supercar you can get a Nissan GT-R Spec V for a fraction of the price (yes, I do realize they are totally different cars). Personally, I'd take the Ferrari 458 over this x-box on wheels any day. Of course I'll never be able to afford either one of those. ;)
