She's very well known in her native Philadelphia and sells out all her shows...just a pity the rest of the world knows so little of her amazing talent!
@TheNevan60 For the record, she's not from Philadelphia, she's from upstate New York (born in Poughkeepsie, lived in Albany, Woodstock and a few other places, now lives on a farm outside a small town in upper central New York). She's best-known in Philadelphia because she had a minor "hit" on WXPN in 1991 with her song "Feed The Fire" so that's why she sells out shows there.
I also thought it was Annie Lenox andd Kate Bush - I am a huge Kate Bush fan - but nope =) I watched her in a video here on youtube performing this live, and it's amazing. She's got a new fan here. Not only her voice is amazing but also her style is very beautiful and original. I'm actually glad she's not that famous... I love finding these rare precious jewels. Thank's for the album uploader =D
@phyllophillic I believe she'll be "discovered" someday, by DJs, filmmakers, musicologists, musicians and music lovers, and it'll be really a hip thing to be into Happy Rhodes. That might not happen for decades, but it will happen. They'll be appalled at how ignored & obscure she was in her day. We who know of her NOW, whether we're just discovering her or have been long-time fans (I've been a fan for 22 years), will be so envied. Gloat now, to make those future fans positively green. :)
While many people often make the mistake of assuming this is Annie Lennox and Kate Bush, it's not. :) It really is Happy Rhodes and her incredible vocal range and talent. :)
Hi xenussister - thanks for that!

Never heard someone using her/his voice as an instrument in a viruoso manner like that before, honestly!

@liberatingactions Why? cuz she sounds very Kate-like, without a doubt. She had even trained her voice listening Kate's songs, so...
