  • Just curious. Does anybody else do this song besides the CofC? My husband and I are big into southern gospel, and he would like to see this done by a quartet. Has anyone ever done this before?

  • Amazing!!

  • BLESS YOU... we need more beautiful hymns on youtube sung with congregational singing.. Tonight I am having my own memorial, my 19 yr old cousin was killed and lives in Jasper Texas and my family will not be able to make it for the funeral. so I am singing along with yall tonight .. Beautiful songs beautiful singing..

  • This is my favorite hymn.

  • Clearing up the misunderstanding about tithing in today's New Testament Church.

  • Ephesians 4:4 "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling." Colossians 1:18 "He is the Head of the body, the church, ..." Ephesians 1: 22-23 "and He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him to be Head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all." According to God's Word, there is only ONE body. And that body is Jesus' body. And His body is THE CHURCH. Church of Christ!

  • That was beautiful. Praise God for the wonderful blessings he provides us with!

  • Its so sad that most churches have left traditional music! Glad that some churches still follow traditional music :)

  • Beautiful. Thank you for posting.

  • This is one of my absolute favorite worship songs! I can't imagine it being sung any other way but a capella! It such a powerful song! Thank you posting videos of these songs and sticking to truth!

  • Not many know and understand that there is no instrumental music in worshipping God because they don't read for them selves and they do not attempt to comprehend scripture. But it is there in the bible. It is in there own instructions for worshipping the one true God. Mechanical music can never be used for such and it indeed was never to be created with the intent to substitute or aid our true worship with which we were given at birth.

  • I love it when they get down like that ! its AWESOME!!

  • Latabanza, You do not need an elder to baptize you. The bible doesn't teach that therefore neither does the Church that follows Christ . The term "Campebllite "preacher"" is not in the bible so it has no bearing on salvation. All that matters is what the bible says. I don't know where you got that bitter taste in your mouth about the church but all you have to do with ANY church is compare their teachings to the bible. Correct where they differ. If they will not conform. Keep looking.

  • If a "Church of Christ" elder refuses to baptize me, will I be lost until I can find one who will? Do I need Jesus AND a Campebllite "preacher" in order to be saved? If I do, then Jesus Christ is not the only Mediator (1 Tim. 2:5) and the Holy Spirit is not the only Administrator (1 Cor. 12:13) of salvation - the "Church of Christ" preacher is necessary to salvation for he is performing a saving act on me when he baptizes me! Is this not blasphemy against Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost?

  • @latabanza Sorry that no one replied to you for 3 months. I didnt look at this video until now.

For a response, I do not know of anyone in the church of Christ that preaches or teaches that an elder or preacher is required to baptize you. The teaching is that you must be baptized, not that you must be baptized by a particular person, simply, the person must be a Christian (by default, male, although I won't go into religious topics on male/female)

  • @knightd94 Unfortunately I do.The whole sacramento valley cofc's teach that.I find that many cofc members don't know the tennant of faith that the cofc teach. The cofc says that the 1st church apostasized and around 1833 Alexander Campbell restored it, but the bible say that the gates of hell will not prevail against it.Then if the verse in romans is talking to the cofc people that they greet them with a holy kiss, then they r the ones that apostasized and needed to be restored!

  • @latabanza I never got the email about your reply and don't check youtube often. However, Because one group teaches something, that does not mean the church of Christ believes it. There is a thing called "autonomy." In fact, I don't directly know anyone that has taught what you just said either. Campbell did not restore it! He was merely one of the prominent figures of the Restoration Movement. What you are doing is taking history and misapplying it.

  • @latabanza and further, whoever told you that is simply not a member of the church of Christ, or is spreading slander about it.

The preacher does not perform the saving act. There simply must be a baptizer in order for you to be baptized... If anyone were teaching such a doctrine, yes, it WOULD BE BLASPHEMY, but that is NOT the case.

  • amen? are you not sure?

  • Revelation 5:8 shows what it's like continually in Heaven, with the four living creatures and the twenty four elders each holding a harp and singing a new song. His word is clear to tell us what not to do and when we are crucified, buried, and resurrected with Christ we are one with Christ thus we are dead to sin and freed from the law.

  • This song brings back fond memories of my childhood. My grandparents are very devout members of a Church of Christ. I always remember listening in awe when they would sing this song. The human voice is absolutely amazing! Thanks for posting!

  • The are doing what right Case we do it same way we believe that u should not take or add to the bible and instruments are adding to the bible so it say sing with medley in your heart.

  • I've been a Christian since I was 11. I attend the Hobart Church of Christ in Indiana. The bible says make music and melody in your hearts

  • "Jesus saith unto him, I Am the way, the truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

  • @venturesagogo- Take a look at Matt 7:21

You fail to put scriptures within it's context. When the bible talks about faith, it is talking about a system of faith.

  • @ masters....I bet I can tell you what your

favorite verses in the whole Bible are...

    (01). Matthew 7:21

(02). Acts 2:38 Am I right? I love ALL OF GODS WORD. Venturesagogo is NOT taking ANYTHING out of context, he is quoting Gods Word, in which Gods word is TRUTH, and you obviously do not like to hear THE TRUTH.

  • I am an EX-member COC...PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!! I know what the coc teaches,

I know what they believe, and it is all False teachings.... :( the coc is preaching ANOTHER Gospel, in which Paul warned, if people preach another Gospel, they will be eternally condemned.....It's in Galations 1:1-9......You know...there are thousands of verses in GODS WORD, I would suggest you read them all, not pick and chose what your itching ears wanta hear..

  • I have read them all so would you please care to explain instrumental worship? Please show me in the scriptures were it's taught. Please show me in the scriptures where there's a faith-alone belief. James Chapter 2 deals with it's false teachings. See what we have here is you claiming that I only take a few verses and use it as my argument when that's clearly not the case.

  • You also fail to realize that the Church of Christ is not denomination unless you were brought up in a false church which is what it seems. We aren't "Church of Christers". We are Christians. Get off your high-horse and start reading the scriptures instead of pointing your fingers at someone else.

  • Tell me...what is it about us that is false teaching? I'm interested in hearing what exactly you find unscriptural. How much studying have you actually done? I've done so much bible studying, that I can't find anything scriptually wrong with us. Give me book, chapter, and verse of what's wrong with us. And explain your use of these verses.

  • The sum of thy word is truth. If one verse says we must hear, another says believe, another repent, another confess, another be baptised, another walk in the light, then all are applicable. We can't pick and choose. It is the SUM.

  • GOSPEL Defined: "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you..." "...how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

  • "For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect." (1 Corinthians 1:17)

  • "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." (Acts 16:30-31)

  • "While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them which heard the word..." "Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptised, which recieved the Holy Spirit as well as we?" (Acts 11;44;48)

  • Amen???

  • "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES; it is the GIFT of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Eph. 2:8-9)

  • "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." (Rm. 4:5)

  • Look for a Baptist church regular nearest to your home and talk personally with the pastor (minister). He certainly has the words you need to guide you. He will show you the scriptures the Way to eternal life that is Christ!

I do not speak of another church because I don't know the other there in your country. I can assure you that you will have, if you truly want, a personal encounter with Christ (The True Eternal Life)

God bless you and enlighten you in the quest for salvation!

  • I need to know right away!! You don't know what thoughts are going through my head... I don't know whether to go to the Baptist church right down the street... and ask the preacher... or can you tell me? I need to know what I MUST DO!

  • @debburg1, acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, WHAT SHALL WE DO? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. ....... you should never concern yourself with any teaching other than the inspired word of God. It has all the answers. 2 peter 1:3

  • can someone please tell me, how does one obtain Eternal life?????

Is it by water baptism? OR THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST????

    please tell me....

  • @debburg1 , Or is it faith? Or grace, or obedience? Or hearing, believing, repenting, confessing, and remaining faithful? "the sum of thy word is truth" and it is all of these things. "without faith it is impossible to please him" "baptism doth also now save us" you need to look at the big picture. The whole bible "the sum" Peter said in the first sermon preached that baptism is "FOR the remission of sins"

  • I want to go to heaven!!! So what is the FIRST thing that I need to do? (01)Baptism?? (02)Faith?? (03)grace?? (04)obedience?? (05)hearing?? (06)believing?? (07)repent?? (08)confess?? (09)through the blood??? ... these things you have mentioned so far... I want to go to heaven, so what is the FIRST thing I MUST do??
  • @debburg1, you must first hear it before you can believe it or obey it. acts 8:28-40 shows Phillip teaching the Ethiopian Eunuch. He preached Jesus to him. He heard and was immersed.

  • brother there is only one way to god thru jesus. rom 3v23 we have all sinned rom6v23 sin equals death rom 8v1 if you are in christ there is no death be baptised for the remision of your sins tell others of your hope in christ god bless you

  • RE: Jz.....you mean to say....if I get dunked

in water...that water will save me???

WHAT ABOUT THE BLOOD SHED OF CHRIST???WAS THAT IN VAIN??? HIS Blood SAVES...NOT WATER...

  • no the blood shed of christ was not in vain the blood saves you threw baptisim

  • Can you please explain?????

  • @debburg1 in acts 2 v38 peter tells the people be baptised for the remission of your sins ang you will recieve the holy spirit since christ died the gift was given to reieve we are to be baptised

  • As a child, I was raised in the Church of

Christ, so I was taught one needs to be baptized in order to go to Heaven. Was

Jesus baptized? well of course. However

can anyone here please tell me, that if Christ, the Almighty God was not baptized, would HE have gone to hell?

I dont think so. John 1:1, In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the word was GOD.

  • Comment removed

  • @JCmattandcarlab , Christ would not have gone to hell because he was sinless. However the rest of us are sinners. Since no sin can enter heaven we must have our sins remitted. Acts 2:38 says baptism is for the remission of sin.

  • uh yeah Titus 3:5 also says "through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the holy spirit".

    Kinda like Acts 2:38

  • Read Titus 3:5 and then tell me that water baptism has a part in ones salvation. ??? please??

  • JCmattandcarlab, I was ready to just go to acts 2:38 Repent and be baptized EVERY ONE of you FOR the REMISSION of sins. Mark 16:16 and Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 "Go you therefore, and teach all nations, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost". Why would Jesus say that if it wasn't necessary? That combined with Psalm 119:160 "the SUM of thy word is truth" But then I realized titus 3:5 says something about washing and the holy spirit.

  • Did you know that Alexander Campbell was baptised by a baptist preacher before there was a "church of Christ" denomination?

  • JCmattandcarlab, Did you know that there is no such thing as a "Church of Christ" denomination? A denomination is a division. There is no division when we just follow the bible's example of the new testament church.

  • The most wonderful Credo of the Church of Christ are the words to this song. The Creeds of the Church of Christ are its hymns, of which this is the best they ever wrote!

  • girlytoads there are no creeds in the Church of Christ. There is only the bible.

  • Wow memories! Is there a verse in the bible that says all songs must be sung SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW?

  • My mom grew up in the COC. The scripture used to ban use of instrumental music is Ephesians 5:19: "speaking to yourselves in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, making melody in your heart to the Lord." Frankly, I don't see how this forbids instruments in worship. But putting theology aside, I love the harmonies in a cappella hymns, and enjoy their beauty. I like this song and think it is lovely for the funeral of a Christian.

  • Let me ask, What makes up the Lord's supper?

  • You're missing something big here. The bible tells us to simply sing. Using instruments adds on to what God has commanded us. Revelation 22:18 warns us to NOT add or take away from what has been commanded us. It says this in Deuteronomy 4:2, and 12:32. Also you must realize that instruments were not used in worship for Christians until Pope Vitalian introduced the pipe organ. The reasoning before that was because we should not go on beyond what God has commanded us.

  • Psalm 98:4-6 "Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn— shout for joy before the LORD, the King."

  • You claim to be a Christian that follows Jesus Christ and yet you go back to the old law to justify what's in your worship? Sounds like a hypocrite to me. The law was nailed to the cross when Jesus died for all of our sins! You can't use the law to justify your beliefs. That just goes to show how much of a hypocrite you really are!

  • I'm not going to have this debate over youtube dude. All I'm going to say to you is you need to read your bible.

  • @tookywooky - I have read my bible, have you? Galatians 5:4-7 clearly proves that you're wrong with trying to justify instrumental worship through the old law.

You won't have this debate over youtube because you refuse to read all scriptures pertaining to the subject at hand. Don't speak or post until you have further educated yourself on the subject. If the bible speaks on the subject, then allow the truth to flow inside of you and don't reject it because of your biased assumptions.

  • @tookywooky - You should never tell people to go read their bibles when clearly you are not doing so either. In fact, everyone is to read their bibles. Not just the select few or do so in order to obey God and then there are those of you who don't because you think you have the knowledge. You cannot grow in knowledge if you haven't read the scriptures! 2 Peter 3:15-18 Col 1:10 1 Tim 2:3-4

  • Dude, If you really want to go on about stuff that doesn't further His kingdom at all go for it. But I'm done talking about this. I was just trying to help and you totally went off on me, which I find kind of cute. Read up on Titus 3:9.

  • @tookywooky - I didn't go off on you. I was simply pointing out the fact that you can't justify yourself or any religious activity by the law in any way! I wasn't asking a foolish question or anything. You fail to see the truth when I provided the truth to you because you attempted to justify yourself by the old law and I have given scripture that shows that you cannot do that under the law of Jesus Christ!

  • Read all those scriptures yourself, and you will see that you need to stop being religious and be righteous. Your trying to justify yourself, but this is all meaningless talk my friend.

  • @tookywooky - So what you're saying is, you're allowed to post a scripture as proof-text for your belief in instrumental worship and then when someone comes along and shows you that you can't justify yourself by the old law and provides proof-text of that, then they aren't allowed to do that? That makes them religious and not righteous? Sounds to me like you're the only religious person here because I'll be glad to read all the scriptures I've given to you. I'll do it over and over again.

  • @tookywooky - And I'll be sure to speak the truth every time I do so and not come up with excuses as to why I should not obey them! I'd rather obey Jesus Christ and his commandments than allow man's teachings to conflict with the true Gospel as you have done! All you do is redirect the argument else where to protect your "image" when anyone with common sense could see your hypocrisy. It's not your way. It's GOD'S way.

  • no this is the new law we do this to and the old law u have insuments that u cannot use in the new law...

  • We sang this at my husbands funeral. I think that it is the most beautiful of all the hymns we sing in the CofC! Thank you for posting this so that I can hear it whenever I want to.

  • I would rather listen to this any day over a church with musical instruments. Great Song, I love singing this song in Church.

  • The mic is to let all hear clearly and nothing is wrong with mechanical instruments. Read you bible properly, it is musical instruments that should be out, things that makes sound. The mic doesn't, it's ur voice through it that makes the sound. Please make sensible comments.

  • The mic amplifies the Human Voice. It is not a musical instrument. The new testament church that Christ started was told to sing. It's that simple.

  • beautiful song..... great bassline
