@Khamomil Simon Reeves (aka 'White man') was polite and friendly. He did not 'make' the nice old man talk, he simply engaged him in conversation, thereby coincidentally giving the old man an excuse to have a break. I agree the old man seemed intelligent and bright. He said he looked old, I thought he looked amazingly fresh and healthy for 68. I thought how he must have been such a big strong man in his prime to still be so strong now.

@Khamomil cond...Surely the problem is the people who pay such poor wages to a person who works so hard. If you work hard all day, the very least that one's wages should cover is enough meals for the next day. Thats not Simon's fault, but credit him at least for highlighting the mans plight. No doubt a very many people share that old mans plight, some may be even worse off (e.g. sick and unable to work, etc.), he can't help them all, but creating awareness might lead to help.
