  • I thought it was Sonny Bono at first, then realized it's young Graeme - right up front! And the "guitarists" are in the background. Wonder what year this performance on Tom Jones show - late 1960's? What year did Mike Pinder leave the band? Moodies Unplugged - LOL! The guys all so thin & slim here and dressed so nice. Was Justin & John not frontmen yet at this time? Just wondering about Moodies history.

  • @devydu Pinder left in '78.

  • This clip must be prerecorded none of the guitars are plugged in, but at least the mikes are live.

  • Great sounds from electric instruments that aren't plugged in!

Still, one of my favorite bands. They definitely are RRHOF material. On second thought, they are over-qualified!

  • everyone got face time except Heyward. Was he really there?

  • dude, their in a class all their own, where would you put them other than in a seperate building..

  • what's the name of this song?

  • "Ride My See Saw" from their 1968 album "In Search of the Lost Chord"

  • @lcr1955 Merci!

  • A real 'BAND' with EVERYONE in it highly talented ; this was always my favourite album of theirs out of a string of perfect albums they made

  • Wish I could see this whole performance. It is a tease as it is.

  • the moodys r the best ommmmmmm!!! but it is speeded up

  • Ha! When I saw the title for this video, I thought it was The Moody Blues backing Tom Jones- that would have been... intriguing.

  • HEy TOM JONES DVD--where is the OTHER appearance by the Moodys on Tom Jones..the show in which they sang "Are you Sitting Comfortably' and "A Childs Wolrd"??

  • Why didn't they show Justins face till almost the end of the song? BBC cameramen are strange lol

  • Pretty amazing sound coming out of a guitar and a bass that aren't plugged into anything. The story was that artists on the Tom Jones show would record it live the day or two before and then lip synch to it.

  • great music!

  • The camera man had a thing for graemes' crotch !

  • Does anyone know what year this was recorded? Looks like 1968 or '69.

  • whoops, I mean standing BESIDE Graeme Edge...to his right....

  • was Justin in this Video?

  • 1:02---1"03 WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back.

Seems as though the poets of the band were the featured artists on this one...Graeme Edge and Mike Pinder.

    Wow. what a time tunnel.

    Tom

  • Yes Justin is in this video...he is standing behind Graeme Edge the drummer.....

  • Yeah they just seem to want to focus on his ES335 Gibson!

  • @Wilthomer66 its not plugged in it sounds like they are useing the live track from live at the BBC

  • Nice post. Only wish it showed some face shots of Justin and John. But it was nice to see Graeme in front. One of John's best songs.

  • Cool having Greame up front

  • great nearly unplugged version...

  • Run DMC in the Hall, but NOT the Moody Blues??? Sacriligeous!!! There are some politics at work, obviously. I rmember going to the Hall years back and the Beatles were allowed only a very small display. I think Wenner didn't like them or the Moodies. Get over it. These are GREAT bands. Where would we be without them???

  • Attend the Cleveland show this year then march on the Hall of Fame with torches, bricks, signs demanding recognition of the Moody Blues and bring a fake guillotine for good measure !

    Tom in Utica NY

  • I agree!

  • Couldn't agree more with you...Moodies long overdue for this honor!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @eastsidewillie

Let's all go to sites like 'rate it all' and 'future rock legends' and make a racket!!! C'mon folks...who's in??

  • R&RHoF? It's like this.

They couldn't put together every musician in that thing and come up with anything half as good as Justin Hayward!

The Moody Blues are on a level way higher than R&RHoF and everything in it.

R&RHoF? Who (besides, oh, Run DMC, And "household names" like Bobby Womack, Wanda Jackson, Bill Black, DJ Fontana, Spooner Oldham) needs it?

If they can't appreciate the beauty of even just a few Moody Blues songs, do we really need them?

    I don't.

    MB. The greatest. By Far!

  • For those of you wondering, you can leave e-mail on the RRHF website, and speak your mind. I finally had the gumption to do it this year. I would highly recommend Moody Blues fans to send an avalanche of e-mail/snailmail to them and then maybe they will get the message!!!

  • We have been trying to get these guys into the RRHofShame since '93. Nothing works. This Hall doesn't look at talent. It's just a big political machine. I think one of the judges is the main guy from Rolling Stone magazine (Wenner?? sp??). The Moody Blues have never had any controversies or scandals...they are just good musicians who keep to themselves and satisfy their fans. They have their own record label, Threshold, so they're not tied down to any mega record company.

    F*** the RRHF !!!!!!

  • Point of fact...Run DMC is in the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame, and they are a RAP (crap) act from New York. I rest my case.

  • My opinion is the rock and roll hall of fame has lost lost their focus as to what "rock and roll" ACTUALLY is.

  • Hey yocily1, the campaign began long ago, but the Rock and Roll of Fame clueless idiots have their head up their butts. Go to their website and check out some of the ridiculous acts that have already been inducted ahead of the Moody Blues, and you will see what I mean. It is truly a shame the Moodies, along with legendary artists like Neil Diamond, Chicago, Tommy James & The Shondells, and Paul Revere & The Raiders are not inducted already.

  • Madonna, Donna Summer, Run D.M.C.....acts like these only got inducted due to the bullshit politics of the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame.

  • Who wants to start a campaign to get the MOODY BLUES into the Rock Hall? I'm all for it. I know that there has to be millions of MOODY BLUES fans and fanatics out there.

  • I second that emotion. The Moody Blues are brilliant. Peace.

  • @yocily1 Yes I will sign that. There even too good for the hall of fame.

  • Unplugged instruments and Ray is getting great sound from that invisible tambourine he's banging away on! Lol

Love this song though, one of Lodge's finest!

  • Moody Blues are soooo good! I love 'em!

  • WIGGY!

  • GRAEME has lots of other talents but above all, HE'S ONE OF THEM.....and thats great. They are one of the worlds best.

  • Yeah, well who cares?

  • Moodys My Dream.... Moodys Stay Forever.... Legendary From The Beginning.... Moodys My Dream.... Moodys Stay Forever.....

  • Are these guys good or what, and tell you this, they aren't even in the rock and roll hall of fame, what gives!!!!!!!!!?

  • in a class of their own

  • Daftest thing is we tried to copy the fashion.great old song. thanks for the laugh. a true blue fan now and forever.

  • Ha, have to admit it all appears a bit frenetic, with the props twirling and all, but hey that was before the MTV age. Kind of fun anyhow, and great to the Moodies looking so young.

  • Probably one of the worst Moody Vid moments I have ever seen.

Not their faults though but jeeezuz this is bad.

  • Comb overs were legal in the UK back then! Great vid!

  • HAHAHA

  • lose the combover Mike Pinder.

  • not to worry...he is stone bald now!

  • Do you have any more of the Moody Blues from This is Tom Jones show?

  • I believe they only did one song because Mary Hopkin was also on the debut show. This is on dvd by the way for the Tom Jones show..lots of great performances on it.

  • Good music!!! Why can't we have that kind of music today???

  • It's there...you just have to play it on your stereo instead of playing the garbage of today off the radio. LOL!

  • Maybe Graeme was welch it was the Tom Jones show ya know! great clip

  • Loved the purple. That's why he's in the front.

  • Justin plays that 335 at astounding loud volumes considering it's not plugged in...

  • Love how Graeme is in the front and he doesn't sing! Poor John & Justin---no close ups of them at all, and John wrote the song. Goo figure!
