  • Nice try... but fergalicious wasnt the right song :-/

  • If you had well trained ballerinas who were doing beautiful, dynamic ballet as opposed to a bit of basic bar work, it would be a lot easier to compare the two styles. It seems like this was made to deliberately make ballet seem boring and hip hop cool. Both dance styles are great, but this video seems very anti ballet and (sorry to be blunt) but the ballet girls are not well trained or doing real ballet. Being on pointe does not equal ballet....

  • evryone think ballet is sooo much harder then hip hop but if you add all the flips and the break dancing that is not true

  • @lehawnainthehouse67 @lehawnainthehouse67 - back flips etc in hip hop are tricks. in ballet, the results may not be as impressive, but the years of training that goes into making effortless suggests that they are more technically difficult. A ballerina could probably learn to do most of the tricks in hip hop fairly easily as they already have the flexibility, ability to turn and the strength, but put a hip hop dancer on pointe and ask them to do 52 fouettes and they would probably break a leg!

  • @belindaw and if a ballet dancer tried this - (youtube search - Spinboy Aichi-141 Headspin(Guinnes World Record) they would break their fuckin neck lol

  • @lehawnainthehouse67 exactly if theres no Breaking it shouldn't be considered hiphop anyway.

  • oh,god... please leave ballet to bolshoi, mariinsky or royal ballet...

  • Mckayyyyyy <3

  • those dances were sooooo easy.

  • @bellcandy33i im a ballet dancer and i do hiphop and jazz.

  • i love both just so much but i think i like ballet a little better...

  • @bellcandy33 1. you're making it sound like ballet dancers are a lot better than hip hop dancers

    2. what you wrote isn't really true the ballet dancers get used to dance all soft and stuff and hip hop is the opposite so it's not so easy for them to dance hip hop either.

  • @SSandraSSandraS I totally agree with you.

I dance both of them and I have no problems with neither of them. I'm so tired of hiphop dancers and ballet dancers competing against eachother.

  • @CarmenCYDE i dance both of them to! including jazz and a litle bit of salsa.

  • @SSandraSSandraS i dance ballet and u r write it is kinda of hard for us to dance hiphop but its not impossible either.

  • @bellcandy33 I disagree. Anybody can do anything they put their minds to and can be great at it, who are you to judge? And I know some great hip hop dancers that are also award winning ballerinas. So please do not comment that, and you could have also discouraged a hip hop dancer to learn different styles of dance from just reading this comment.

  • im sorry, but that wasn't ballet. that was walking around in pointe shoes and kicking here and there.

  • @bellcandy33 yes they can i ve seen one and i like both hip hop and and ballet

  • AWESOME!

  • both are weak :\

  • lol im on my sisters youtube........ @bellcandy33 uuuuuhhh definantly not!!! im a hip hop dancer and to become company we have to take 2 years of ballet so shut up.... they suck at hip hop tho haha

  • the hip hop part is to flowy.

  • if there's a hip hop dancer that says they can do ballet, is it really ballet? like, the real kind of ballet where you're classically trained and you're turning out, have good form etc? in my opinion it would be hard for a hip hop dancer to reform to such a classical dance as ballet, but it would be quite easy for a ballerina to let loose and do a hip hop routine. ballet ftw.

  • Actually, I've never seen a "ballet" dancer perform Hip Hop with any sense of style or character!

  • @bellcandy33 So, if someone learns hip hop they then become incapable of learning ballet? I've seen plenty of ballet dancers fail to pull of hip hop. Being able to dance hip hop doesn't make you incapable of dancing other styles. Just as we can learn to sing or play different genres of music, master different sports, learn different languages to as high a level as we are willing to work for. Of course a hip hop dancer could do ballet. It's a skill you learn, not a super power.

  • @potentperson some people are good at both dance ive seen a hip hop dancer who can do ballet but not that not that good at ballet but still she can do it better than me :D

  • @leana616 im both a hiphop dancer and ballet dancer. and even though both dances seem extremely different its not that hard to dance them both. they both hav somethin in common but i dont know wat....

  • Comment removed

  • the ballet dancers are hardly doing hip hop + im a hip hop dancer and i can do ballet

  • @Kacey96Biebs this is tottaly bullshit

  • @Kacey96Biebs Ballet is the base for learning every type of dance ;)

  • BALLET ROCKS FOR EVER!!!

  • @bellcandy33 I can't fully agree with that . Not any ballerina can do hip hop . Most of them don't have the swag that hip hop requires . But it is true that not every hip hop dancer out there can do ballet . This is coming from a dancer who takes every style :/

  • @bellcandy33 I can't fully agree with that . Not any ballerina can do hip hop . Most of them don't have the swag that hip hop requires . But it is true that not every hip hop dancer out there can do ballet .

  • i love the ideas, choreo, and dancing.

i wish people didn't make this a which style is better issue.

i think both styles owned in this:)

i love the jazzy moves en pointe, and the hip hop too:)

  • you can't do anything until you try. Pretty sure anyone can do ballet who has money for lessons and a passion for it. In my experience hip hop can be a natural talent enhanced by practice.

  • @bellcandy33 so true

  • hip hop is so much better

  • @bellcandy33 thats so not true get a life

  • @bellcandy33 true

  • i have been dancing's for years now & i hate when people think i only do ballet cause im a dancer & its like no,i can do way more then that.

    love the video (:

  • @bellcandy33 Ballett dancers, from my experience, cannot do hip hop and street to the same extent as someone who has never done ballet

I have been doing street and hip hop since i was 2 and ive just started ballet, and I'm in an advanced group

  • @bellcandy33 If I would have started ballet at three I could become pretty good at it but my body would have limits. If i would have started hip hop dance (which is more then 10 styles in one), my creativity would have limits. Or no dance is better. I will say a lot of ballet dancers underestimate stuff like bboying, fingertutting, locking and poppin and a lot of hip hop dancers underestimate ballet. I would say both styles are too different to be compared.

  • Both are equally painful and hard to do!

  • @MissLary24 i'll repeat myself : i know that both have their difficulties, i never said hiphop was easy !!

secondly, the ballet technique is harder (i know im repeating myself but i just find that obvious with NO offence to hip hop dancers ...) i love the soul of both styles but in practice, ballet really is harder, in a professional level.

i respect ur opinion but i strongly believe that ballet really is the hardest style

  • ммм.....сомнительно...

  • yea, it might be hard 4 hip hop to do ballet but, think, most people don't take ballet first (which is what i did) and my ballet teacher says i am amazing! this year again i am taking hip hop, so i guess it works both ways

  • @bellcandy33 oh yeah ballet just helps you with your technique. i know this because i have been dancing since i was 2!

  • @bellcandy33 umm excuse me i can do ballet and i was a hip hop dancer way b4!

  • amatuer..........

  • @bellcandy33 i disagree personally. a lot of my friends started out as hip hop dancers and then transitioned into ballet dancers as they gained interest in the art, and then some of my friends who are ballet dancers who have been dancing since a very young age tried some of the hip hop routines in my class and didn't do well at it. but overall, a dancer is a dancer no matter what style of dance they do and anyone can learn with hard work and dedication.

  • @sweetleelover10, stepherislove, and dancefaeva: Just for all of your guy's information, i have done both. What i ment is that ballet takes almost 16 years of training or some pretty frickin good natural talent to be good at it. And that's just being good! Hip hop dancers would have a very difficult time starting from hip hop and transitioning into ballet. Ballerinas however, would have a much easier time learing a new style.everyone seemstalk about this "flow" hip hop has, ballet has flow too!

  • @bellcandy33 i never said it didn't have flow, what i was saying was that the flow of ballet and the flow of hip hop are two very different kinds of flow and it's harder for some people to switch from style to style. I'd never diss Ballet. i've done ballet from age 3 to 14 (i had to quit due to some medical complications...) I'm just saying that if you've been dancing one way for a long time, it'll either be more difficult for you to switch from one way to the other.

  • @bellcandy33 or easier. it depends on the person. sorry if you thought i was trying to be rude or condescending, i wasn't. that's just my personal experience with the two different styles. i respect your opinion

  • @bellcandy33 no im in both and i'm just fine at both...and im assuming your in ballet...hip-hop isn't that easy

  • @stephersislove true. any dance style is hard. but ballet is the hardest

  • @dancefaeva Truee.

  • that was amazing my new fave

  • @Haruhi8DHinata Agreed. I'm not a fan of ballet, but I've seen amateurs do better than them. The choreography was probably crappy because of the song, though.

  • i dance hip hop and ballet.

i like hip hop so much more!, i need to DANCE and not to do what the teacher say and to wear pretty, little clothes. i think thats because im very energetic and passionetaly.

  • thats really creative! i applaude the choreagrapher

  • BALLET!

  • THIS IS SICK

  • they were terrible. i mea like realy terrible ballet dacer couldnt were the worst ever!!!

  • @minneapolibby And could you do any better, probably not, because thats not the attitude of most dancers

  • @justinbieberluv16 i am a dancer ive been dancing since i was two

  • @minneapolibby and how old are you now?

  • @justinbieberluv16 15 im on pointe and have a scholarship to a performing arts school and my teacher says i may have a scholarship to nyu

  • @justinbieberluv16 and i do tap and jazz and hiphop and breaking i think i know right from wrong

  • Wow they really killed it makes me wish I was a dancer

  • Awesomee Job Guчss :) <3

  • I think the ballet dancers danced this better than the hip hop dancers. It would be a cool ballet dance even if there was not hip hop

  • being and dancer isnt about bieng good or w.e its about the passion

  • @lemon4girl and being good if your not good then people wont enjoy it -_-

  • ok thoes "ballerinas" arnt even dancing ballet, just because they are wearing pointe shoes dosent mean there real dancers.

  • @jamosygirls do you really think that just anyone can put on point shoes and stay up on them? o.0 if so, you are seriously kidding your self. what kinda dance school do you go to.?

  • Hip-Hop 4ever!! <3 <3 <3

  • ballet (:

  • agreed.

  • The Ballett was better than the Hip Hop ♥

  • omygod.

    this is stupid..

  • love the concept. the dance was novist.

  • omg I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

  • As much as i love hip hop and ballet i think they should just both stick to their own. xD was ok tho

  • i think this is so cool!! i love the very end where everyone comes together

  • hey think hip hop is better

  • its just like poses and arm movements! suckish guys!

  • no synchronous !

  • the ballet was good..... untill the araobesque,,xx

  • @LanaBanana1396

    lol. Agreed

  • This was pretty... Bad.

The two dance styles are extremely different, and require different attitudes, and mindsets.

Making the dancers do ballet, while they knew they'd be dancing to fucking Fergalicious in a couple of seconds obviously affected their ballet, and it was painfully obvious.

Overall, it just wasn't... Very good, for me. The sudden transition only hurt the performance.

  • the ballet girls need to work alittle harder and stay together. you would think since they're pointe dancers they would do better. the hip hop was ok, but again coulda been better. overall it was just ok for me

  • The arabesque penchee at the beginning messed up the whole thing for me. If all but one of your dancers can do a beautiful arabesque above 90 degrees, then none of them should of done it.

I wonder if this was student choreograhpy because the staging was so basic. If this was student choreography then I say good job.

  • i love both ballet and hip hop..........!

  • OKay, nice hiphop, but the ballet was not very good and I really didn't get the whole ballet vs hiphop thing. It should have been one group balet vrs one group hip hop or something, this wasnt good at all.

  • I have to say that was pretty interesting because I've never seen ballet and hip hop actually combined into one dance piece before... it really shows how different the two dance styles are. good job!

  • i Thought It Was Good. YOU TRY PUT A PERFORMANCE UP LIKE THIS THATS BETTER AS A VIDEO RESPONSE!!!!!

  • i´m sorry but this video sucks, the dancer looks like in a school performance, they don´t feel the music and looks like five six seven eight all the time

  • Sorry if this offends, but the idea is good but the choreographer didnt portray it very well, maybe at the beginning after the pointe it should turn into lyrical/contemporary then work it in to hip hop. The dancing was very messy though next time you preform something, rehearse it!!! also the prop was pointless, they do ballet they should have enough strength to not hold onto chairs.

  • The idea was terrible--ballet and hip hop, no matter how good of dancers anyone is, is still a terrible idea. First of all, both dances have different lines. Second of all, both dances have different concepts....ballet is disciplined and technically beautifully; hip hop is smooth, aggressive and fierce. And thirdly of all, the dancers here were not eve that great to begin with to represent either style of dance. This whole idea and choreography just an epic fail.

  • wow that was terible lol it was ok

  • eh.

  • ahh but some parts that looked out of sync whereas they were just cannon

  • pshtt is this a joke.

  • cool idea, but it wasnt together and some spacing was off

  • I love when people put what kind of dancer they are just cause they think it makes people believe they know what they're talking about

  • it was good, not university good, they could have been a little more in sync, but the choreography was awesome

  • the phrase "stick to what you're good at" springs to mind?

  • the phrase "Shut the fuck up!" springs to mind. At least they give it a go...

  • im a ballet dancer and they are amazing on point and wiht a bit more practice to make it more in in time..they would be class then =)

  • hmmm......very out of sync.....

  • i know right. i mean i used to take dance classes and i am 14 and if we danced like that during a recital our teach would msacare us

  • that was so unoque

    great job

  • porfavor no lea esto (me obligaron)

el 13 de octubre de 1991

yo lo lei y lo hise & si es verdad..la familia de un amigo murio hace una semana

  • Dude that was amazing for being in pointe shoes. So everyone jsut needs to shut up when you get on pointes and try to do that. And dod it better then they did. thenyou can talk

  • bleh. i was hoping for something way better.

To be frank, this wasn't as good as I hoped for it to be...

  • Too messy i thought =/

  • MAN.! i was hopen 4 a kick ass preformance.!hell 2 da mofoe naw.! i was pissed dis shit was wack i love both ballet n hip hop n i didnt like dis at all.!

  • yeah the ballet wuz realy messy alot of people was wilting in their arms and ballet dont mix wit pointe shoes wut da hell?

  • that was REALLLYYYYY bad

  • I really didnt like this dance.... well i didnt like it at all and hip-hop freakin rocks!!!! i dance hip-hop and a little of contemp and i dont have trouble mixing the two at all... some people just shouldnt try to

  • that is known as people pretending to do ballet i think hip hop sucks

  • where was the hip-hop part?

  • the entire dance!

  • what is the song???

  • Fergie- Fergalicious

  • GO BALLET! FIGHT WIN! 8)

  • I don't usually like this kind of thing, because it's usually 'boring ballet' vs 'cool hip hop'. This was different, and I thought it was really fun! The dancers were good, some of them in particular.

It could have used a little cleaning up maybe, and it did drag a bit in places, but overall I think this was a great piece! Kudos for showing both forms of dance in a good light! Great work.

  • ayyyyyyyyyyyy fresh i liked th eballet ppl and im black

  • some of these comments are so negative..Dance to express not to impress. keep havin fun girls!

  • This was really good but, i think they should of worked on it a bit more work before they preformed.

  • wow, um not too good.

  • that was really cool!!!!!

  • this sucks!! :0

  • this dance was very messy...needs tons of work

  • PSHHH they rocked!!! NOT!! I AGREE WITH YA!!!!!!! PLUS IT TOO LIKE GROWN UPY CUZ LIKE DA HIPHOP DANCERS at 2:05 and 2:06

  • This is stupid

  • guys, you did okay but you need to work on your timing!

but other than that it was cute

  • GOD all you people commenting on this vidio are so pathetic...

have you ever thought they dance for fun!

Well I thought the hip hop was better than the ballet cause I love this song lol but they were all really good the only thing they need to work on is timing there wicked x

  • i hope you guys werent in comp...

    cause... that was bad!! :S

nobody was in time with eachother.. and the people kept looking at eachother to get reminded what to do... like..?

  • Not very clean

  • Why weren't any of them in time wth each other Lmao.

  • sorry, i thought it was ballet and hip-hop, not just slutty dancing.

and i don't mean that in a prude way, i mean it's not good ballet, or good hip-hop,

    it's good lap dancing though!

  • Really creative! I like it! :)

  • I love Hip Hop the ballet was cool too

  • timing was bad, the dancers have no ballet technique whatsoever. this is what we call "bad ballet". sorry guys. those were horrible penchés though.

and i don't think much of the hip hop either. where exactly are these dancers from?

  • no offence but the ballet dancers kinda suck... NO OFFENCE

once we see REAL ballet dancers will debate over the two.

  • Eh the music could be better! But it'sa very creative! :-)

  • The ballet part is sexier.

  • Oh my gosh! this is like amazing! I've always wanted to dance but like.. i'm challenged hahaha...

  • this is the reason hip hop dancers dont dress up as ballet dancers

  • hip hop the best dance

  • timing is the problem but over all nice

im a both ballet and hiphop dancers

    danceers rules!!!

  • The Ballet dancers looks weak with that music but I think they will look better with clasic music. Girls in jeans were better but they still need to work a lot.

Respect for work that you've done. I know how hard work it is.

  • timing issues...

  • They have kinda no rethym if thatz how you spell it..I'm not trying to be mean..

  • the ballet was okay, they werent together, but it was okay. but i cannot belive the hiphop one. it is HIP HOP. not being skanks.

  • i think that over all it was pretty good. sure there were some mistakes, but nobody expects it to be perfect. they did a good job overall.

  • That's disgusting.

  • No.Never Again.

  • It's actually REALLLY difficult to synchronize ballet. Even with mirrors, when you're on stage and you don't have the mirrors with you anymore, and you're on a very tight/compressed rehearsal schedule. Let alone a film crew with markers and all, or motion capture...

  • wth are you talking about ... it's difficult to sinchronize ANY type of dancing on stage =/

  • well...that'a not ENTIRELY true. There are some forms of dance where there's a greater margin or tolerane of (synchronization) error. For example, in contemporary and/or jazz, or any derivateive thereof; synchronization isn't always/necessarily) a key factor. However, with hip hop and ballet in particular; your artistic/rehearsal director will prolly rip you (the company) a new one if you consistently are getting it wrong.

  • In a large ballet production, its not uncommon for multiple rehearsal directors to dissect the performance and to practice the scenes separately. And then on top of that, you have the performers themselves forming subgroups, rehearsing pretty much whenever and wherever they can (in the halls, corridors, in between the isles in the theater.)

  • While hip hop may have some elements of that, I've yet to see or hear of such "elaborate" 2-hour long hip-hop productions whose sole purpose is to represent nature in about the most unnatural way possible. ;o)
