  • Huskies have poor "Return" instincts. It's mostly curiousity and part "I don't want to listen to you."

My friend has a Malamute Husky mix. So he was lucky, got the "Malamute" obedience and the husky markings and slender body build. So people are freaked out that he says, "Taiga. Come" and the dog comes running back and sits beside him, no leash.

He reminds them it's not a 100% pure husky or that'd almost never happen.

(That's why I'll be buying a Mal' as well! Big fluffy huggable pups!)

  • @DonnieDarko916 Its not that you can't let them off the leash..Like ANY dog, they must be trained..Most dogs learn the "come" command easily, huskies are a different story. Im not going to bother explaining it as MooMofo has already said it perfectly as to why they tend to run off..You just have to be patient and train them right

  • i av two huskies and we always let them run off the leash

  • dog leashed up on a beach?...yuppies.

  • Love his colors. Gorgeous animal!

  • awww cuute. we did this with my husky. got a super long leash and took her to a lake...only she was hoppin around in the water.

  • Are you from Oregon? I live in Portland and this looks like the Oregon Coast.

  • huskys are elegant by nature....it's the LAW of nature....husky=elegant

no matter how fluffy they get the elegance is still there and it not moving

  • Such a beautiful dog you have! I have a husky named Odin as well!!

  • it's generally advised that huskies be kept on some sort of leash when outdoors... while short distances are alright, once they get a good amount of distance on you, their curiosity grows while your control weakens... it's not their desire to leave you, but they are very curious and social, often going wherever their curiosity takes them...

  • @MooMofo

mine do the same. if i unleash him, he depart from me until he forget to return. but that only in public. when i go outdoor, he always look where i m, and came to me if i try to run from him or change direction lol

  • very beautiful husky, but if your dog is anything like mine used to be, i can understand why he's on a leash. LOL! fortunately my doggy is being trained now to not take off running.

  • beautiful husky.....but u should let him run free!!!!!

  • should let him have run off the rope, his name is cool!

  • Beautiful!!
