@furbygr uhhhhhhhhh ok you apparently haven't ever drove a lotus *looks outside a yellow elise*. The thing does not top out at 200kmh (125mph) ive maxed it at 158 (gps recorded). And thats a Non turbo'd, Non supercharged version......

and yes the SL55 has more power, but how many straight roads are there where you can use it? the Elise handles like a fucking go cart.

those lotus's might be quick but they are gutless. they are only quick cause they dont weigh anything. they have no torque and no power. i'll stick with my 5.0 it might be stock (till i drop in my 408W) but it has a buch of torque spins the tires easy and pushes me back in my seat pretty hard.

I didn't think the Lotus was that fast until I drove one. The car is excrutiatingly loud as it feels like the engine is right up against your back. It climbs so fast you're pinned to the seat. It's very light and agile, cornering like a sharp knife through butter. I want one for the weekend. I could easily find myself 300 miles from home if I use earplugs. It's a NA supercar that's cheaper than a Vette at under $50k.

elise is mainly built for the track yes, hence the great acceleration, braking and handling but it lacks top speed so if it did go on for a bit longer the SL wouldve taken over since it sports a larger engine packing more horses.. oh and it is a straight line

The only reason the SL55 lost is because its tricky to get the perfect launch with a SL55 due to the traction control system. Besides, an SL55 would destroy the Elise on the highway..

Thats funny how everyone rated my comment down.. I happen have a SL55 and my friend has an Elise and ive driven both cars and there is no comparison between the SL55 and Elise. Im not biased, im actually a big fan of the Elise as well, I just dislike how it lacks all the basic amentities. But go test drive both and youll easily see the difference. One is a gokart on steroids, the other is .. a real car on steroids lol

On a highway perhaps... but in any other country in the world (i.e. one that has corners) Lotus would win hands down. On a track the Merc wouldn't stand a chance.

Being an M3 owner myself I like German fast cars. But the most fun I've had in a car was in a Lotus Exige S around Silverstone. I was leaving Ferraris in my wake. They really are awesome. We don't need air con in Engalnd anyway.

The lotus is QUICK not FAST. i hate people like you that don't know the difference between top speed and accerlation. my friends camaro ss does 163 governed . you need big horse power to have top speed. the lotus is purely weight and torque. Why do you think all these little imports with 300hp and turbo only go 140 in top gear? not enough power. You need a good balance of Torque and Horsepower to have a real racing machine.
