Kael'thas was prince of the high elves, then he changed their races name from high elf to blood elf.

Sylvanas was there with a Night elf model because there wasn't any model for high (blood) elves then.

I understand where you're all coming from.. but if they didn't give characters new voices, then there'd be no more voice acting from them. If the WC actors quit pre-wow, there's nothing that can be done. Imagine how boring the game would be if all the epic scenes were just text.

I loved this voice - I'm not too fond of the original voice, but my only guess is that, what with needing new lines recorded for Sylvanas, they probably couldn't GET her old voice, and so needed a new actor. When you're using a COMPLETELY new voice, you really need to replace the old voice's lines, too.

I make no effort to defend the new voice's actual VOICE, though.

It was a money issue apparently. The guy who voiced Arthas in WC3 was offered the part in WotLK but with a lot less pay than what he got for his performance in WC3, so he turned it down, the woman who played Sylvanas probably the same kind of offer, and looks like she eventually turned it down =S
