a papercrete block with no concrete has been shown with a truck driving over it, ot was slightly compressed. try that with a cement block and you will have crumbles.
i just found mason greenstar papercrete block and brick today. this spraying papercrete would be a super fast way to plaster! what about pouring a papercrete roof?
I have seen others do a PC roof. I have to do it for my papercrete/ferrocement domes. If I had the options I'd prefer to have a metal roof and not let the papercrete come in contact with water.
papercrete might be able to hold water if it were covered with a acrylic or latex paint. I would recommend using a ferrocement technique to do a water tank. The paper might be a good way to insulate the tank and prevent the water from getting to warm if it is drinking water.
Super therm does look like impressive from the videos I saw on your youtube site. Do you sell this product? How much does it cost per gallon?
Papercrete is not legal in any form. We need to bring in structural engineers on all products and have them stamped.
I think insulation might be the wrong term. My bad. A thin papercrete stucco reduces the oven effect by preventing the metal from efficiently transferring and radiating heat.
I will look more into ceramic insulation since you mention it.
Papercrete has nowhere near the strength and longevity of a cement based stucco. Papercrete also looks relatively crappy compared to stucco.
The advantage of spraying papercrete is the small carbon footprint, ease of trowling, light weight, use of waste materials and massive cost savings. I estimate commercial bag stuccos to cost about 10x the cost of papercrete per square foot.
Yes, it can be pumped with a plaster/stucco pump. A Mayco C30D would be ideal. I am going to try and use a smaller 3" trash pump 9HP and see if I can pump it as insulation infill (not for high pressure spraying).

Does papercrete rott or grow mold?
what can you do to the surffice to make it look pretty?
RazedByWolvs 2 years ago
check us out we are doing this now to a football field sized concrete block wall
we shoot our spray at 125 psi for a really fine coating. 60 psi was great for a thick coat

how much do you charge for sq ft ?

how well would it stick to metal? like say for instance a quonset hut?
sgtpepper1138 2 years ago
Wrap the hut in wire and it should work

Too kool! Do you think this stuff on reinforced wire could make a holding tank for water if down correctly?
KARStarla 3 years ago
There are some who are suggesting this could be used on Shipping Container home construction or other construction for insulation.
Reality: It is neither insulative, or even legal to meet zoning standards and building inspections.
Coating the stucco with Ceramic Insulation paint is cheap and also gives an R-19 equivelent according to the ISBU Association and other research.

What is the differences and disadvantages of papercrete over stucco? Does the papercrete give the building a newer look than stucco?

hey, that is great!!
what is the name of the pump (model) you used, is it neumátic?( then a compressor is needed right?)
thanks man
jiegjieg 3 years ago
This video we only use a compressor and the sprayer.
The compressor is a 60gallon, 220V. I forget the specifics about CFM it is probably like a 10CFM at best. We only shoot at 60psi.
The tirolessa (sprayer) is available on-line for about $220 just google it.

Neat, never seen that before. A true pro, you can tell by the flip flops, board shorts and wife beater haha.

That answers my question of whether or not one can use a mortar sprayer to apply papercrete. Thanks for this.

Great stuff, but can it be pumped with plaster or stucco pump? Too slow application with the little hopper.
