Man I want to go back My uncle and I made it to the keyhole but there was a ranger up there and several experienced hikers and they said not to go through the narrows because we had 60-70 mph winds and it was sleeting...most amazing thing I've ever done though it was awesome!
Are there alternate ways to climb it, or does everyone go up the same way? I almost did it last week but I decided I want to research it more first. 0.o
@radiochuac2026 "There is a route u can take through mt meeker without going through all that scary rocks but it's way longer!! "
I'm not sure what route you are talking about. If you are talking about the Loft, which ascends to the saddle between Meeker and Longs, it is actually almost four miles shorter and probably a bit more difficult
@GeneralAmeli0 There are many many ways to climbs Longs. The Keyhole is the most popular route and one of the most popular routes in Rockies (read: crowded). The only other class 3 route is The Loft which is a little harder and more exposed than the Keyhole. Other popular routes include The North Face (Old Cables Route) [5.4], Kiener's Route [5.4], Keyhole Ridge [5.5], and routes on the Diamond such as the Casual Route [7 pitches, Grade IV, 5.10a] and quite a few others
i was supposed to climb that for my grandfather to spread some ashes up there..but itll have to wait another year..im 15 im gonna do it hopefully next year (:
if you're in shape, in no problem. i'm 16 and did it last week. my brother saw a 6 year old girl do it. and i've seen people who look like they're 70s do it. just make sure you have good gloves and a warm hat. when i went it was below freezing and had 60 mph winds. so you need warm clothes and a windbreaker. and good boots. but i've seen people do it in cross country shoes. and start at 3 in the morning.
Hey nice video! I just climbed that beast yesterday. Aside from the altitude sickness and sheer exhaustion from the trough on up, it was definitely a great experience, glad I can finally say I did it!
That was a good video. Thanks for posting it. I enjoyed it. OBTW, what song and band?

There are several routes to the summit but by far the most common route is the "keyhole route", which is shown in this video
