this scene should have been very powerful and really emotional...tears of joy should have slipped down between the two. Neither have been able to exhale knowing the other is really going to stay and be a family! been months apart & the "no touching or sharing rule" should have ended here. Needed major kisses & lots of I love u's inbetween the hugs & redevotion! Sadly, A reunion that didnt do otalia justice for all that happened

after nat is gone for over a month and after all of her effort to get olivia back when she comes home with olivia resisting her every effort, you would think that their reunion in this episode would be more than face touch and forehead bumping. i mean this would have been perfect for the long awaited kiss....or at least an embrace like the one they shared when olivia came back from visiting alva after their spa trip.

I'm not sure what sources are being cited but neither JL nor CC said there wouldn't be a kiss. JL said we shouldn't expect a heavy make out session and CC was preparing us so we don't go overboard on thinking there is a sex scene or a lot of kissing. Great show today.

I'm totally agree with your comment dreamerisso. This a true pure love story exploring a large panel of humans emotions and feelings. A miror for everyone. The geniune pure love, tenderness and respect that already exist between the two actress in real life make things real and believable.
"this is not a gay story its a story about love and family" - it makes me sad that you have to see these as mutually exclusive. It can't be a gay story AND a story about love and family? Isn't the whole point that these women fall in love WITH EACH OTHER and form a loving family -[just like what happens with same sex couples in real life]- but the stereotype is that gay people are shallow and not family oriented - aren't we breaking that stereotype here? I hope so.
I've always known I was gay - but I live in a world that is mostly str8- and certainly very little rep. of my life in mainstream media. It is great to see a same-sex couple beautifully portrayed [although censored] - but I have also enjoyed and been inspired by some beautiful hetero love stories I have seen - so why can't str8 people relate to & be inspired by this story even if it is a gay story? why does it have to be characterized as "not gay" in order for it to have "universal appeal"?

I completely agree. I too am straight but I believe that Otalia is one of the most beautiful love stories ever. Although some didn't get to see more of the relationship, yes including the physical, I think overall they did a GREAT job. Otalia is beautiful.
i thought liv would comedically rush up to the door & slide a little before catching herself and straighten right up. her flowers swinging loose & land in her shirt/hair from hitting the door slightly. liv tries to look cool but nat is just laughing before touching her face. the last scene, liv says "i want u, our home & all the babies that we'll have together!" ~happy tears break before foreheadsex and soft kiss

In the Advocate interview Jessica said there wouldn't be a big make out scene, but didn't rule out a kiss. She also said if it were up to her there would have been intimacy in the Otalia storyline from the beginning.

I have watdh GL for 30 years. My mom and I watch it with my grandmother before she passed away. So the end of GL brings an end to something my Mom and I shared with my grandmother. I have loved the olivia for the 10 years she has been apart of GL and I thank CC for bringing her to life. I have loved the Otalia s/l from the begining and still do. These are the things I am worried about not getting after Sept. 18th. I do not think a kiss will or will not make this story. It is bigger than a kiss.
when the show ends we will all miss it - Olivia, Otalia, emma [not Rafe!] - I will miss the spaulding/cooper feuds. right now we are missing a whole part of the best story on the show. one of the greatest love stories on GL ever & it's diminished - not just b/c they "don't kiss" but b/c they actually structured the whole last part of it specifically to keep these women apart and to avoid intimacy & physical contact - it diminished the whole story.

I was elated to see Olivia enter the room then furious at the (once again) missed kiss opportunity. Had to laugh at my flip flopping emotions.
Overall I'm happy they've reconciled and we'll get tender scenes and town folk reactions to their relationship. I'm still hoping for a 'grand gesture' of some sort from Natalia...maybe one kiss?
Honestly the second best storyline for me on this show is Doris'. & sometimes when Otalia is messing w/ my head it's my fav, Doris' character is almost as juicy as Liv's & there's so much depth to plunge just with her! I'm serious about that Doris spin-off CBS! If you want out of MY dog house you'll do it! & it better have Ash/Blake/Dinah/Josh too! Otalia can guest star.

Rafe is as self absorbed as ever. His friend Ash just told him her mom is gay, always has been, that it made their relationship hell. His comment?: "well at least she trusted you enough to tell you instead of having to find out yourself [like poor little me]" sigh
N was going to tell him - and she had JUST figured it out herself [and figured out what? we don't even know how she views herself]. She didn't get the chance, and since then he's been blowing around SP in a homophobic rage.
Irony - D was afraid A would react badly, so didn't tell her. She prob would've reacted worse if told when she was a teen - Nat was all about telling R- waiting just until he was adjusted from leaving PRISON - she had faith he would love her/care for her as she always had for him- and HE is the one that had the sick psycho reaction. They are showing the variety of reactions people have - and the unpredictability. I hope this helps str8 folks understand the kind of fear we often live in.
I was thinking the same thing about Rafe's reaction. Things are always about him, no empathy for others. His "What is this like a band wagon everyone is jumping on" is typical of his lack of depth.
Ashley's anguish is about Doris not being honest with her, not the fact she's gay. Ash did tell Rafe.." It upset's me she'd keep a big secret from me, like I'd be homophobic and not share her life", and "I just want my mom to be happy."
Maybe Rafe will see the light or go insult Doris next.
I think it is good they had these "coming out" scenes. They are pretty much out of time with this show - even so I hope they can have at least a little tiny follow up with Doris and Ashley. Ashley is angry now, but if she thinks about it for 5 minutes, she will start to understand why D was afraid to tell her. I have little to no hope that Rafe will stop being a Git. They chose to write this character as a near sociopath - sad choice I think. Not sure how they can step back from that now.
Gura- Do you think there's an 'alternative universe' you tube Otalia where viewers/fans write gleeful comments when Rafe,Frank or Father Ray insult, lecture or negatively judge Olivia and Natalia?
Why else would Rafe be allowed to continually beat up Olivia ,walk out on Natalia and make homophobic remarks without any real consequence. He makes the 'manly' decision to join the army and gets this hero's welcome by the group at company and is now being called (by Frank) a good man. WTF!

This show is schizoid [sorry mental health profs for misusing that term] -I know the official censorship may come from above re kissing etc., but we are also seeing the conflicted strange world view of the writers - "gay is ok as long as you are not really gay -or out", "R can go into a homophobic rage, but is still a good kid..."

I've always known I was gay - but I live in a world that is mostly str8- and certainly very little rep. of my life in mainstream media. It is great to see a same-sex couple beautifully portrayed [although censored] - but I have also enjoyed and been inspired by some beautiful hetero love stories I have seen - so why can't str8 people relate to & be inspired by this story even if it is a gay story? why does it have to be characterized as "not gay" in order for it to have "universal appeal"?

I completely agree. I too am straight but I believe that Otalia is one of the most beautiful love stories ever. Although some didn't get to see more of the relationship, yes including the physical, I think overall they did a GREAT job. Otalia is beautiful.

I have watdh GL for 30 years. My mom and I watch it with my grandmother before she passed away. So the end of GL brings an end to something my Mom and I shared with my grandmother. I have loved the olivia for the 10 years she has been apart of GL and I thank CC for bringing her to life. I have loved the Otalia s/l from the begining and still do. These are the things I am worried about not getting after Sept. 18th. I do not think a kiss will or will not make this story. It is bigger than a kiss.

when the show ends we will all miss it - Olivia, Otalia, emma [not Rafe!] - I will miss the spaulding/cooper feuds. right now we are missing a whole part of the best story on the show. one of the greatest love stories on GL ever & it's diminished - not just b/c they "don't kiss" but b/c they actually structured the whole last part of it specifically to keep these women apart and to avoid intimacy & physical contact - it diminished the whole story.

I sincerely do not understand how people can "not care if they don't kiss." No wonder we seem to be make such great strides towards equality if we accept this insulting double-standard. I was elated to see Olivia enter the room then furious at the (once again) missed kiss opportunity. Had to laugh at my flip flopping emotions.
Overall I'm happy they've reconciled and we'll get tender scenes and town folk reactions to their relationship. I'm still hoping for a 'grand gesture' of some sort from Natalia...maybe one kiss?

Honestly the second best storyline for me on this show is Doris'. & sometimes when Otalia is messing w/ my head it's my fav, Doris' character is almost as juicy as Liv's & there's so much depth to plunge just with her! Rafe is as self absorbed as ever. His friend Ash just told him her mom is gay, always has been, that it made their relationship hell. His comment?: "well at least she trusted you enough to tell you instead of having to find out yourself [like poor little me]" sigh
N was going to tell him - and she had JUST figured it out herself [and figured out what? we don't even know how she views herself]. She didn't get the chance, and since then he's been blowing around SP in a homophobic rage.

Irony - D was afraid A would react badly, so didn't tell her. She prob would've reacted worse if told when she was a teen - Nat was all about telling R- waiting just until he was adjusted from leaving PRISON - she had faith he would love her/care for her as she always had for him- and HE is the one that had the sick psycho reaction. They are showing the variety of reactions people have - and the unpredictability. I hope this helps str8 folks understand the kind of fear we often live in.

I was thinking the same thing about Rafe's reaction. Things are always about him, no empathy for others. His "What is this like a band wagon everyone is jumping on" is typical of his lack of depth.
Ashley's anguish is about Doris not being honest with her, not the fact she's gay. Ash did tell Rafe.." It upset's me she'd keep a big secret from me, like I'd be homophobic and not share her life", and "I just want my mom to be happy."
Maybe Rafe will see the light or go insult Doris next.

I think it is good they had these "coming out" scenes. They are pretty much out of time with this show - even so I hope they can have at least a little tiny follow up with Doris and Ashley. Ashley is angry now, but if she thinks about it for 5 minutes, she will start to understand why D was afraid to tell her. I have little to no hope that Rafe will stop being a Git. They chose to write this character as a near sociopath - sad choice I think. Not sure how they can step back from that now.

Gura- Do you think there's an 'alternative universe' you tube Otalia where viewers/fans write gleeful comments when Rafe,Frank or Father Ray insult, lecture or negatively judge Olivia and Natalia?
Why else would Rafe be allowed to continually beat up Olivia ,walk out on Natalia and make homophobic remarks without any real consequence. He makes the 'manly' decision to join the army and gets this hero's welcome by the group at company and is now being called (by Frank) a good man. WTF!

carol - sorry to say I think WE are actually the alternate universe - the cool one where people DON'T reward the kind of hateful imbecility we see from these dudes. This show is schizoid [sorry mental health profs for misusing that term] -I know the official censorship may come from above re kissing etc., but we are also seeing the conflicted strange world view of the writers - "gay is ok as long as you are not really gay -or out", "R can go into a homophobic rage, but is still a good kid..."
