The Star Wars line is out of print as LucasFilm decided not to continue it's license. Personally, i'm estatic about this, there are too many good Sci Fi settings to play that aren't as obsessed over by minutia minded supernerds.
What I don't like about this guy's reviewing style is this: he starts by saying he doesn't like this era and then he continues: "so what does this book offer if you don't like this era?" -- which makes it sounds like he's only reviewing this for himself.
Aye, that it did. I had been a huge Star Wars fan as a kid and 1999 killed my love of Star Wars. The one-two punch of the first prequel moviel and the introduction of the Yuuzhan Vong ruined it.
no. the force unleashed campaign guide is a supplement for the Star Wars Saga edition Pen & Paper rpg. I whole-heartedly recommend getting that because
A: it's not a video game
B: you can create a better story than any of the games.
C: It's a group activity that promotes social interaction and math skills (oh no, I've lost my audience)
As someone who playtested this product before it's release, I can say honestly that Unleashed rules are very easily turned into something broken. My playtest had 3 10th level PCs, all with Unleashed powers able to defeat a 20th level Jedi/Jedi Knight in less than 4 rounds without taking a single point of damage.
Saga's Destiny Point system in general faces this problem to some extent. If your players horde their Destiny Points (and why shouldn't they?) they can easily gang up on a BBEV and take them out in the first round. The Unleashed rules just give players more options on how to use their Destiny Points but at least DP are very rare and difficult to gain.
Interestingly, in Saga I feel like Force Points are too weak and Destiny Points are too powerful...YMMV of course.
My problem is the idea that some apprentice of darth vader had to turn up before the Rebellion could be founded, excuse me but wouldn't a certain senator witnessing the almost complete slaughter of the jedi and helping 2 to escape be grounds to set this up even if its just to find and help Jedi escape the Empire? Sorry I agree this setting is really undeserved but I can see people buying it for the power ups if nothing else!
i cant say i really liked the video game, i played it on psp and on 360, it was alright, but nothing to jump up and down about, so to me this will be something i pass on...i agree this isn't a great era for starwars... i much prefer kotor
IMHO, the FU sourcebook is an good source of material not only for the time period between the trilogies but also for the "Imperial" era in general. It provides you with a lot of extra info on ships, droids, equipment, species, worlds and NPCs that would be useful in a "classic trilogy" era game. For me, that era was always my favorite to play in, so I find FU to be very useful. Like Kurt said, if you're more into the KotOR era, get that book instead, but FU still has its charms.
hahah Darth Sideous and Palpatine are the same guy. I think you meant Count Dooku aka Darth Tyranus since he was the Emperor's apprentice before Vader was.

KOTOR is also close to my heart. The biggest WTF video game plot twist I ever experienced happened while I played that game.
It will always be one of my favorites.

Yeah once the prequels came out Star Wars was pretty much ruined. Everything since then has been junk.

Didn't like this game period. I'm a big fan of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic(both). Those were good games from Star Wars.
