  • Big smile shined on my face as the beat kicked in.

  • asbergers FTW

  • those drums are tight

  • Has anyone ever read the book he was talking about? It actually sounds interesting.

  • Love Jose's And George's - One Is Soulful Organic And One Is Jazzy Groovy Electric.

  • 1.17-1.28 no words.

  • if he's blind, how could he see the hands going up when he asked if anyone had read the autobiography he's talking about..

  • xRisingForcex

The same way Apl from Black Eyed Peas (i know they suick now & shouldnt even be mentioned here but 99 they were tight & unique as fuck) being by and large blind calls out to the audience & to folks with philipine flags in the audience.

    Its just crowd interaction

  • I got goose bumps listening to this.

  • Thumbs up if you came here because Jose Feliciano is an incredible guitarist!

  • Que arte que tiene este hombre, Increible

  • Jose is amazing, and sadly one of the most under rated guitarists of all time!! I am a huge George Benson fan, but have always loved JF

  • lolcandles

Should give Phil Keaggy & Rory Gallaghers acoustic works a shot then, they're a different brand of acoustic guitarists but still insanely talented

  • Absolutely brilliant. For as much as I have always like Benson's version - AND I BELIEVE THAT IS ONE OF BENSON'S BEST PERFORMANCES - this version is in a different stratosphere.

  • SIN PALABRAS,GENIO,LO AMO¡¡¡¡¡

  • RIP Nujabes

  • Thumbs up if you were brought here because you actually knew that Jose Feliciano composed this piece, and you appreciated George Benson's cover, long before you ever heard of Nujabes.

  • Anyone knows the name of this show?

I've seen this today on a local Italian TV, after Jose gig there was another band I'm trying to find.

There was a bandleader playing flute, a drummer, a piano player, a kbd player, bass, drums, a horn section, all in the same location shown in this video.

Really great instrumental music but there was no titles...

  • NUJABES + PUERTO RICO!

  • Beautiful and this is the Feliz Navidad guy. Thanks Nujabes for making this connection for me. I really love when music is sampled because I get connected to songs I probably would've not ever listened to. Not because of being into different kinds of music, but because this was way before my time.

  • OMFG!!! I'm in the zone right now!!

  • ARTIST INSPIRING OTHER ARTIST......thats what its all about :)......i love this song and it makes my day even if i spent it crying most of it :P

  • A Puerto Rican guitarist's composition that was first covered by an american jazz artist and then sampled by a japanese hip-hop producer... This speaks volumes to the universality of the language that is music. I feel very proud to be from Puerto Rico and inmensely privileged to be able to hear other artists' rendition of his work. May music continue to bring us together. Cheers.

@XredruM: I agree. Sampling just adds recognition to a great artist's work. Greetings from a fellow hip hop head.

  • @2:25 another nujabes sample....i just cant get the name of it....its really bothering me. someone should end my misery

  • @XredruM

    F.I.L.O. featuring Shing02 :D

  • as soon it was 1:45 i felt magic!... nujabes will surely rest in peace, for this is his lullaby...

Jose sure has soul! this is one amazing song to come up with!

  • What true artistry. Jose, along with Earl Klugh, is the greatest living guitarist in my humble opinion.

  • i thought he is blind how did he know how many people read the book that attended his concert?

  • @GigglingGirI by claps.

  • @GigglingGirI cause only one person clapped!

  • Jose feliciano is one of my favorite guitarists and to find out that his music was sold to george benson and used by nujabes is so fuckin sick.

  • @skulls17 Once a song has been recorded and released, ANY other artist may do their own version and the original composer gets MORE MONEY! It's not sick, in this case my friend, it's a great honor. Nobody sold out anything, I hope you can understand this.

  • @skulls17 I of course was referring to Benson not this nujabes guy. I don't know him.

  • @1955gasman @skulls17 Nujabes is a hip-hop producer. Today would be exactly one year of his passing. I am a huge fan of his. He sampled this song for his piece called "Counting Stars." As a producer, I must be a listener. Hip-hop is misunderstood sometimes because we sample. Folks misunderstand it as stealing. Think of it as reintroducing your favorite guitarist to a new crowd of listeners; music being recycled. Whichever works. I'd like to think of sampling as paying respect to my inspiration.

  • maestro!

  • He looks like Johnny Depp in "Blow". =))

  • @101Licious

hahahaha i thought the exact same

  • Such an amazing song its no wonder why Nujabes would use it.

  • 1:08 for people who want to jump right in

  • y ya dejame vivir mi vida que yo en la tuya no me meto.

    nada mas.

  • yea thanks again jun seba

  • Don't know why but no matter how many times I watch this video, I always get goosebumps.

Jose Feliciano - where ever you are, your music will last it's divinity forever.

  • @biboiluffy

before made comments investigate. The man is blind from birth - he needs to feel for the mike to make sure where it is.

  • Fun fact: This is the same guy who made "Feliz Navidad"

  • @BanzaiLang :O That is crazy!

  • Crazy how this song just puts you in an trance eh? *zones out as the song is played*

  • holy shit this guys awesome

  • Brilliant!!

  • Thanks Nujabes for pointing me to the direction of good music.

  • 1 of my fav vids in all utube

  • @biboiluffy It's called feeling the music you fucking idiot.

  • Damn....!if he's blind then he's a legend,Nujabes version is good as well as this original version.

  • this is soo beautiful(:

  • Thats My Dad on Drums

  • @tlotshawdanmarusa r u serious!?

  • beautiful...

  • Damn this is great!! Nujabes did a great job using this tune, but the original is just Amazing damn!! This is just great

  • Fantastic News!!! For the first time, the original 1975 LP Just Wanna Rock'n'Roll which include the original "Affirmation" by Jose Feliciano (sampled also by Njubaes dj and covered by George Benson" is finally released on CD !!!!!

Is only from the little label woundedbird . com

  • Thanks Nujabes for showing me this awsome song! R.I.P Nujabes!

  • Nujabes died in a fucking traffic accident Dammit!!

  • Euphoria in 4 easy steps:

    1. Rip this to mp3

    2. Get into car.

    3. Take the longest night drive ever with this on repeat.

    4. Euphoria.

  • i just got chills

  • Shits be so amazing!!!!!!! Love Nujabes and love this.

  • Beautiful! This is the second time Ive been led to an older artist's song thanks to a cover by a recent artist (in this case, Nujabes). Glad to see how great music influences each other through time.

  • when it all kicks in..just amazingggg !1

  • I think the number was reset a little while ago. It has to be more than 19 thou. I too was led to this by Nujabes, and I'm glad I did, what an absolute legend. The riff on 4:30 gives me goose bumps still. While I can't play the guitar I've tried to learn this song through Counting Stars on the piano, I hope I can do Jose justice some day, he is an inspiration even in this dark and dreary day.

  • thumbs up if counting stars by nujabes brought you to this video.

  • yepz

  • @yonaeb epic thumbs up

  • @yonaeb Blu & Exile "Maintain" brought me to this video, but it was cause someone mentioned Nujabes used the same sample so I had to check it out

  • Jose's feel on this tune gives me goose bumps! The way he plays the melody is beautiful.

  • No matter how many times I listen to this it never ceases to amaze me. I love the beat and the way it flows so well. An amazing guitarist no doubt.

  • What makes this an amazing performance and song is that Jose is blind and playing the guitar better than most sighted guitarist. He's an overlooked legend along the lines of Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles. Truly God-given talent.

The cover by George is a more refined, commercial version. Still, it can't touch this.

  • @Imk385 i couldnt agree with u more

  • such a shame 18,000 views on this. 300,000 on george benson's. this is much better.

  • I agree. I like George Benson's cover of this, but 18,000 v 300,000 -strange!

  • yeah. this is som much smoother and easy flowing. i think george benson's is too fast and choppy. and i like george benson. and i have to be honest if you asked me to name great guitarists, jose would have never come up before i heard this.

  • I first heard this song on samurai champloo, tracked it to george benson, and i happend to find this video with the acutal song from the anime. Its a very beautiful song.

  • He looks like johnny depp in the movie "Blow" lol

  • It's fantastic & incredible how Jose Plays this his fantastic composition, no other cover has this hard techinc fingerstyle, too easy plays with a onlyone plectro

  • This was also covered by the great Al Gafa - one time Dizzy Gillespie side man abd a great jazz gitarist. His album Leblon Beach which features this track is an all time great album in my book.

  • i wish i could play like that i can only play the scale at 1:44 so dam hard

  • It's a Jose Feliciano song that Benson covered.

  • madlib....well actually lootpack's situation

  • george benson also did this right?

  • yesm, this song is a benson song

  • epic.

  • Nujabes Counting Stars

  • super dope when he kicks it all up at 1:44

  • fuckin beautiful... i listened to this just because of nujabes and now i find myself diggin the original...

  • @noobammerweed Lololol same here!!!!

  • I watched too so what

  • I watched too so what

  • wow so smoove son!

  • anyone have tabs for this?

  • i love Nujabes' take on this song too. just...probably the best song ever produced, in my opinion. one of the best instrumentals, anyway

  • simply amazing

  • dang!!! this is soo awesome!!! haha nice!

Still feel that Jazzy Hip Hop..NICE!

  • very cool song

  • so did... george benson cover this song? is jose the original composer for this song?

  • both!

  • yes and yes

  • Yes, Jose is the original composer in his 1975 album and GeorgeBenson covered it one months later

  • excellent

  • How does he know one or two raised their hand when he's blind? Idgi.

  • they claped

  • you found him out he's not really blind!!! or maybe it was the clapping he heard...

  • He also read a book which must have been written in BRAILLE!

  • Where Nujabes got their sample for counting stars...amazing

  • got HIS...nujabes is one guy

  • Comment removed

  • Well for thinking that way...but either way, his music is amazing regardless of him being blind. Amazing job that even musicians today couldn't hope to match.

  • Nujabes used the main rif at 1:46 in Counting Stars - a great song from the epic soundrack of Samurai Champloo

  • Not to be a douche but Counting Stars wasn't on the Samurai Champloo soundtrack.

  • Well, technically you're right. Listen to Shino's Theme and get back to me.

  • I know Shino's theme was never on an album though until Hydeout collection came though. But zomgggg that scene where Jin was helping Shino escape on a boat and Shino's theme played was soooooooooo badass. Fuckin greatest scene in Samurai Champloo.

  • truth! very powerful scene. My favorite is probably where Mugen duels that bodyguard on the beach and then that still shot with him dead with his sword - daaamn! true bushido. -.-

Also Jin walking up to the final fight with the hand of god, and the one where that Ainu guy is on fire...holy shit there's too many to list. That's why sam cham is so good: everyscene is beautiful, and there's 0% filler. *coughnarutobleachcough*

  • Yeah the only good animes are 13-50 episodes long with the exception of Hunter x Hunter. The episode where the dude was on fire was epic. Think I just might watch Champloo again since I've seen like every damn anime there is to watch and have nothing else to watch except crappy animes like Vandread.

Oh yeah ever seen sword of a stranger? Its an anime movie which rivals Champloo in action and badassness but no Nujabes : (

  • hmm, never seen it, but I'll definitly check it out. good lookin out :)

  • Jose Feliciano is one of the ( if not the #1) best Guitarrists that i've heard in my life. I can't believe he's blind. God bless him and you all.

  • not sure if u meant he was blind at this time cuz i dont think he was.. because he was able to tell that people raised their hand in the audience.

  • He was born blind. He probably heard people say Yes or something. Or he is just that amazing, he has super powers and can see with his ears.

  • He oftentimes liked to make humorous references to his own blindness (he was born permanently blind).

  • it brings a tear in my eye.

  • 1 word says it all. beautiful

  • Great song!!! he also penned it

  • i was searching for the song to research for some jazz standards and I have too say I had forgotten how astonishing Jose really was on the guitar man!!! thanks for the memory

  • that classical guitar is huge.

  • It's A Candelas guitar. Made by Tomas Delgado in East L.A.

  • wow how do you know?

  • I had his interview on Guitar player where he said so and also it's on the Candelas website.

    Regards

  • He said it's a classical guitar but with a Dreadnought body. Sounds great IMO.

  • i am try to tab this all i can say for now is that his guitar is tuned a whole step down

  • Jose Feliciano: GREAT MUSICIAN !!!

  • i feel like i am the only one who watches this video. only 1,370 views!!!!. this is an awsome song!!!!

  • did some research. i think it is on:

    George Benson - Breezin

  • It's on Jose's Just Wanna Rock 'n' Roll Lp. That whole album is sweet

  • I had been looking for Jose's version of this tune 'cause my fake book says that he wrote it. I love both Jose's and George's versions... one is funky and jazzy and the other is funky and latin.

  • he did write it

  • thanks for sharing this
