I was fortunate to see Keith Jarrett perfrom the Survivor Suite at Princeton University. He had paul motian, Dewey Redman and Charlie hadein with him . Keith should take a vacation from the Standards and perfrom some of the classic ECM material.
@oregonbobv I don't Keith will ever do any of that. It seems he has determined that the jazz is an idiom in which playing is more at the root of it all than composing. That is, a player should be able to submit his playing completely to the material at hand, and inhabit it completely, without regard to who composed it, or even whether it is composed very well. Playing standards exemplifies this devotion for Keith, and it is hard for me to believe he will retreat from it.
@chauntzu It's way too "frantic" for most people, my girlfriend, for instance, lol! It was OK, until the drummer came in and "ruined everything", lol! If everyone liked it, it wouldn't be so special (and neither would we, lol!)
Rihanna is from my country but this appeals to my soul far more. Simply magical. Thank you.

I couldn't agree more...Enough with the standards recycling already...not just by Keith, but in general!!!

Why this album hasn't gotten the respect it deserves is a real mystery...Oh I know, because it ain't Wynton and/or rehashed standards yet again!!!
