@Ilovethemunksnettes Poorly! You can see enough to walk, but not to drive. Generally nay one out in public in a full head mask should have a "handler" or helper nearby to make sure they don't wander into traffic and stuff.

hey, how do ou paint fur? what kind of paint do you use? i have this golden fur (cause the character has more gold on 'im) but he also has brown and a creamy white color. the fur is really short and i don't know how to paint it and i don't really want to waste it by experementing too b=much.any tips?
Yeah, we've got three but they're apartment friendly, they only yell if there's a big problem. Like, say, a plastic bag blowing into the yard at 2 am.
Okay, I just need to know what the teeth are made of and I'll be fine. I think it's so awesome that it's possible to make such a decent mask for under $30. Thank you SO much for posting this. It's really helpful and gives people something easy yet productive to do in their free time.
Good observation! The purpose of these vidoes is not to create "A SO COOL MASK" it's to let you know it's easy to create complex forms for costuming. This is a clip from the "how to make the mask" video. I posted the short so people could use a short a clip to sum up the process. Tho I kinda wish I could reupload the video, Youtube's raised the MB limit for uploads since then!
I agree with most of the past comments. Its more "cute" if anything. I guess its the rather large nose that gives that impression. But either way its still cool.
Yeah I tend to go for "cute" over "horrific," it you want a terrifying werewolf you'd have to make it less well, fuzzy!! The use of thick pile short fur (called fake mink, or luxury fur or stuff like that) allows for the use of detail shaving to make textures like wrinkles and veins popping out.
I was impressed by the stilt system I found posted on IndyMogul's website, but wow, this is quite an awesome mask as well! They had a werewolf mask tutorial as well, though I'm not sure which I prefer. Perhaps a mixture of the both.
Thanks, I've done a lot of costuming projects, and this is the first one I've posted on the internet (usually the costumes are for professional groups, so I don't get a chance to really document them.) The response, between Make Magazine giving us mention, and the folks from around the world who have sent me photos of their finished versions of the stilts and mask... well, it's been wonderful!
Like I said to the poster below, skill isn't the issue. Skill is just having practiced and activity until you can do it smoothly. There's no reason you can't figure it out step by the the first time and come up with a strong product, give it a try! If you look at my the videos you'll see a reply from a cool little dude who built his for Halloween and it came out great, the same with other e-mails I've received from folks who never tried to be creative in this way before.
You are! It's not hard, just gluing and cutting and stuff, each step on its own is simple enough that even if you're not "artsy-fartsy" you can do it. The finished project is nothing more than about 100 easy step you can plan out with some thought. Check out the how-to video and look at the posted blueprint.
This is using a really basic methodology that anybody can try, that's the purpose of these how-to series... get people who are intimidated by expensive products and professional techniques to come out with fantastic results on par with the professional ones.
How so? As shrews have tiny ears, tiny long noses, very elongated snouts, eyes on the sides of their head and small feet I'm not sure what makes it similar. I would be interested in your input for the next design, since this was something we put together fairly quickly.
...I'm pretty evil like that, I get a huge kick out of children staring and staying away in fear on Halloween. So while you have the sin of jealousy...I seem to have the sin of wrath!
There's a how-to video we did that explains where the eyes came from if you look at "more videos form this user." We used Sunsets brand tanning bed eye protection and popped them into the eyeholes of the mask.

@coolduder10 Yes! because statistically 1/10 of people who make costumes are gay! But, you should try to curb your sexual desires for chickens.
