I usually illegally download music LOL...but for crystal kay I'm going to make an exception and buy every one of her cds because she is just THAT AMAZINGG
@LikeMyStyle01 i saw it and she talks about being american. i have nevef heard of her talking about her father. she just sayz he's american. she talked about her mom
@cartier395 I doubt it's that. But I think it's already a big deal enough that she's mixed with American, living in Japan and being as popular as she is IN JAPAN! She's still amazing though.
@DetectiveTective it just seems like thru her career whn u compare her at 1999-early 200s her skin is that beautiful brown, and it changed to tan. and in her interviews she says american not african american. she doesn't talk much about her dad. just a little about her mom
@cartier395 Interesting... I should look up more of this lol. But the only interview with her on Youtube has a TERRIBLE NOISE in the background (anyone who's already found it knows what I'm talking about)
@cartier395 When I was little my skin was darker than it is now. I think it's because I spent almost all my time outdoors. Now that I'm older I look a lot paler and I didn't do anything to alter my skin tone. I don't see why she would need to say African American, do you hear Caucasians calling themselves British American/Caucasian American or whatever?
@soffy2002 i'm not implying that she's should say she's black she's proud black power but i have never seen an interview where she talks about being part african american. all we know is that her big influences r michael and janet jackson and that's it. i am a huge fan of hers. and btw i am african american too. and i think that the two heritages she has is beautiful together but it seems like the media is taking that away from her. its not just skin it's music.compare muisc from '99 to now.
@cartier395 Orrrr, maybe she doesn't need to state the obvious. Plus, the girl's taste in music may have changed all on its own. You have to bear in mind how young she was in the 90's, and think about all the things you liked as a teen and how many of them you still do. Sometimes we have to take things as they appear. Not everything has this big, deep, complex thought behind it :)
@cartier395 I don't think so. I mean i didn't see the interview you're talking about but probably in other parts of the world, Americans are probably all the same lol so she just said American...
I'm shocked at how "light" she's gotten in her more recent CDs. Honestly, I have a hard time telling whether or not she's black (not in this video though, for obvious reasons). Cuz in her other music videos, there is so much light and so much make-up on her face, it's like they're trying to cover up the fact that she's black... and I kinda don't like that. She is extremely beautiful the way she is and doesn't need all of that "lighter" make-up for other people's approval.
The more you get older, the more lighter you are. Look at other artists that are African Americans and compare their pictures to when they were a little to now. And also, why doesn't it really matter? She is black/korean so why the hell are you bringing up her skin tone?
@MiaLeonora It's not like I have a huge problem with it. I really like her as a singer, and she's opening the door internationally for a lot of black girls. I myself am black and I'm studying Japanese and I hope to go there soon. I immediately fell in love with her from this song right here, and started looking up everything about her. I just found it a little odd that she's just gotten so "bright" in her latest albums. I'm just making a statement. I'm not trying to start problems lol
@DetectiveTective skin changes for example i get lighter in the winter darker in the summer i thought that was for everybody though?? shes not bleaching and hiding the fact that shesblack she wears her hair naturally curly more often than straightened shees not hiding it
@WorldofNene I don't think she's hiding anything because I see that she's not so "light" when she goes to her concerts. And Idk who said that people get lighter as they grow older, but I guess I went through the opposite. LOL I mean, idk. I just like to see black celebrities/singes/actresses/models/etc. who aren't covered in make-up to make themselves look light. As a really dark girl, I feel like they send out a message that being light is better.
@WorldofNene But it still doesn't change the fact that I think Crystal Kay and all the other actress/singers/whatever are beautiful and stunning! I will still always love Crystal Kay's music. I was just a little concerned about the image she was putting out through lighter make-up (idk maybe I'm over-analyzing things, but that's just how I feel.)
@DetectiveTective Yea but most of the time I think that is her makeup artists who do that I know in Korea its hard to find makeup for darker skin tones it may be the same japan, I understand what your trying to say though, she has changed over the years her music as well I still support her though
@WorldofNene Yeah, thanks (Jeez I thought I was getting flamed for a second with all the comments. lol). And even though her music has changed, I still love it a lot! Her voice is amazing and she has such incredible talent! I mean, I envy the fact that she could make an album at the age of thirteen! THIRTEEN!! That's something special!
What's the guys name? I've been trying to look up him and his sister to show one of the brazalian exchange students at my school. All I know is they're half brazalian half Japanese and the guy in this video died.
@dredeshawn93 His name is Joshua. He was married to a Japanese celebrity Anna Tsuchiya. His sister is Rin Kozue( I'm pretty sure she has an English name too but I don't know what it is). She was on lots of Japanese variety shows and relatively popular, but she's moved to the states since I don't know when. She was dating Benji Madden for a little while. I don't know what she does now though. Hopefully not dead.
OMG that's Joshua D=
