Also, remember that if your bag is sent to the wrong place due to missing or incorrect baggage tagging, it may be lost forever if it is a generic bag. BUT! If you place your contact information inside, hopefully, the baggage handlers can then contact you for delivery instructions rather than sending your bag to the big "lost luggage" auction at the end of the year!

I used to work in the biz. If you can, buy a unique colored bag. PLUS put neon tape/ribbons/stickers on your bags (this reduces theft and mistaken bag claiming). THEN, put a slip of paper in EVERY bag with this info: your name, cell phone #, date & city you left from and the city & date where the luggage was supposed to go to. The baggage handlers may have to open your bag when found in the wrong airport & this gives them the info they need. If someone else claims it, you can prove it's yours.

Or,if flying on a Boeing 737-700 if you sit in seat 6F (window seat) you have a chance to watch your bags on or off the plane. I happened to sit there on my flight wednesday and saw both my checked "bags" (one was a box distinguished from the rest, the other a large green suitcase) get on and off (one on, one off) the plane and got them from baggage claim with almost no trouble. (but then again thats just me. XD)

It is good that when you check in, you will get a "number tag", and there would be another one that will be pasted on your baggage. Then when you reach your Destination, you get your bag and before going out, there would be a staff that would check if your luggage has the same number tag as the one you were given. This is already being done in Philippines because alot of people used to lsoe their baggage or take the wrong one.
