  • Manson really did a lot for me. I first heard him when I was 13 and very depressed. To cut it short, he taught me I was worth something and to be proud of who I was. I hope modern pop idols are doing the same thing for kids now.

  • Dead Man on Campus : )... "If the dream was so really real, I don't think you'd get that second shot off." LOL

  • Being a Bowie & Manson fan, I love this ;)

  • This sucks. At least he kept the original songs groove.

  • @orbit817 Ahahaha, I agree.... Bowie forever.

  • Wop wop wop...lmfao

  • hi all manson fans.. I admire Mr. Manson and I made a vid from his music.. Do watch it.. enjoy ;)

and to Manson all girl followers <3<3<3

  • Dig this cover, cuz only marilyn manson could pull off a Bowie song like this. U know he was inspired by Ziggy Stardust, but what blows my mind is who inspired David Bowie back then cuz his shows were so innovative?

  • Not as good as Bowie but still unique, I would love to see a cover of ashes to ashes on mansons new album born villain

  • One of the few David Bowie covers I like! One of the few covers I like in general.

  • he gives it a 90's feel.

  • im a huge bowie fan but manson gives the song a new creepy feel i love this version

  • MUCH better than your Ramones, significantly better than your Eurythmics, slightly better than your Soft Cell, wop wop wop

  • Golden years, gold whop whop whop

  • why he looks like a woman

  • @samosval92 You don't know who David Bowie is, don't you?

  • OMG, I never knew he redid this song! ..... not as good as Bowie's but not too shabby.

  • Good cover.

  • Golden Years is more of a blues atmosphere song on Station to Station. Can't help but love it.

I don't consider this better than the original, but I will give Manson some props for a tribute to the Thin White Duke. In the 90's I considered Manson a modern day David Bowie, and even though I don't care for his newer work I am not afraid to admit there will never be another artist so heavily influenced on Bowie to do it better than Manson has done it.

  • fuckin creep.

  • @gamer4837 no!

  • How come I havent heard this before?

  • i think this song shows off he is a good singer. cuz prejudices cant be for this song, its very normal and not general public alienated "heavy metal!"

  • What do you want to Marilyn Manson? You understand the music and the meaning does not!

Go play with your dolls had better!

    You are a fuckin Fake!

  • @BloodyVampdoll hahaha this comment made my day!! rofl

  • dont know about the lyrics or message but i love the beat

  • His mother must be so proud...no, I wonder what his mother thinks.

  • @2CoolDays

Both his parents are big fans, actually. Not making this up.

  • @martn2420 wow...thats fucked up

  • Awesome cover.

  • Bowie i love

  • EXCELLENT

  • @bolshevik2

Haha! You gotta be trolling. XD

  • Fucking shit, is how I would conservatively decribe this.

  • Great song good cover i only know of it cause it was in the start of the best movie ever Dead man on Campus

  • Now I have to post a correction. This is an excellent RENDITION of David Bowie's Original tune. Bowie is the most awesome musician EVER!!!! This Video is a decent tribute to him, only decent, not really fit for him entirely.... but ok

  • a pretty good redition here - I like it (Mue Bueno)

  • 98% of Youtubers have some annoying "98% of Youtubers" thing in their signatures. If you're one of the 2% who doesn't...Wait. Crap.

  • Considering I like music with a dark element to it this version is way better than Bowie's original in my opinion. Much more dark and raw. The original still kicks ass though.

  • I'm not crazy about M.M., but I gotta admit, this version of Bowie's classic song is pretty damn good!

  • 2:09 wtf

  • Can anybody tell me where the parts with confetti/anything spread in the air come from? And the song is beautiful.

  • @Seviexe probably the coma white video

  • thank u so much 4 uploading this video. Im serious. Im a huge Marilyn Manson fan, And I heard this song in a movie 4 like 2 hours ago, And I got panicked when I heard this song by manson, and I wass like, Ive never heard this one b4??

so I was searching like a fool to find this song. I wrote downed words of the song I remebered And tried finding its lyrics. and I saw it was David bowie, and I found it here, marilyn mansons version! thank u so much, again.

  • Is that Rose McGowan?

  • @DPagliarulo yess

  • @DPagliarulo Yes, Rose McGowan was Manson's girlfriend at the time. Those shots are from the Coma White music video.

  • Great you used only mechanical animals for this songg=)

  • the song is good but video is not creative its an old theme.

  • his shtick is tired worn out.

  • Great song! Had very good days with it!

  • i love his remake of this song. i am so going to buy this song!

  • this cover plays over the opening of the movie "dead man on campus". its not a great movie, but i love it, its hilarious

  • This is actually pretty good. Manson makes some awesome covers.

  • A really good cover!

  • lol xD

  • Hmmm..

    Marilyn Manson = Favorite Artist

    David Bowie = Second Favorite

    This is great.

Finally Brian pays David back for stealing all of his ideas. xD

    xoxo

    Chloe`. Criminal

  • great vid

  • i agree, i like david bowie but that song isn't really good.

mm version is so much better.

  • being a mega Bowie fan I have to admit I kinda like this :)

  • @femaleBowie I was skeptical too, but WOW! I really like the sick twist in his voice.

  • i don't like manson that much but this cover kicks ass

  • Sweet Vid!

  • hes released 7 albums of all original music.

He does write his own stuff.

  • Solid video. Great song, very catchy.

  • Good cover, good video.

  • Who originally did this?

  • david bowie.

  • does anybodu know any cases that smb made covers on Marilyn Manson's songes? since he has made a lot

  • there is some, but i cant remember wich the names

  • He does fucking awesome covers. They sound different and the same at the same time... I don't know how to explane it... :/

  • Yeah, but his rip off of People Are Strange by The Doors blows ass

  • omg after years of blatenly ripping him off he actually does a true bowie cover.. lol..

    bop bop bop..

    hehehe

  • Watch Mansons great speech at disinformation here on Youtube.. the word "better" comparing Bowie to Manson seems idiocy, "Beethoven is better than Mozart" seems quite a retarded statement of fools who needs confirmation to undermine their ability to have "right", these are statements of people who can't appricate great art which both Bowie and Manson represents, imho.

  • but Beethoven never did covers on Mozart's music. that is why you can't say that one was better than another. and in this case Manson rearranges not his own songs (as usual, by the way), thats why "better or not" is relevant.

  • If you read stories on Beethoven, he enjoyed Mozart, until he complete lost his hearing. Then this genius continued to compose.. a bit a side on this topic though. My point is the damn naiv comparitions on two excellent artists. I agree on your point I made anyway. Satisfied? Best wishes from MM. by the way ;-)

  • i love them both but i still think you cant compair manson to bowie bowie is an utter genious, song writing and producing manson is good and ilike this version but still and i know what you said befor but bowie is better

  • sick remake go MARILYN david would be proud

  • why Marilyn? WHY? I adore Marilyn Manson but i freakin' love David Bowie!

i think this is one of Bowie's best songs, but i think Manson slaughters it here :/

  • you people, why feel the urge to talk negative on MM? if you don't like him don't watch this..MM is the best, he's my personal jesus, so keep your filthy paws off of him

  • lmao...that personal jesus bit was really douche bag-ish.

  • Mmm, I love Bowie and Manson so this is a great song IMO.

  • david bowie's version is much better. it had depth, this is too monitone. dont get me wrong im a mansion fan but david bowie will always be better.

  • no-one's better. MM is the best.

  • lol thats because manson is tone deaf.

  • the original was much better.

    but this was fun though.

  • considering when this song was covered it makes sence.

this was during his "Glam" era. so its natural he covers bowie. im a bowie and manson fan. i think he did a pretty good job here.

  • i agree, but bowie is a great artist too

  • Who are you to say that David Bowie sucks.... You're a piece of shit.....

  • this beat is 2 fukn sick

  • yeah, the best song !!! marilyn best

  • One of my favorite covers of his. It just begs to be remixed.

  • Great video,i'm not a Manson fan but i must admit that he's a master in depicting the nightmares of our times.Very enjoyable video, five stars!!

  • Oh, whats that Manson has remade another song by making it slower and darker?

    WHAT A FUCKING SURPRISE!

    David would be ashamed.

    Marilyn Manson is a hack.

David Bowie was the Original Freakout.

  • this is a cover for a film.

  • The Bowie's version is 27 seconds longer.

  • I know what you mean and it's true, Bowie is smarter, darker, edgier and more creative than Manson ever will be but this version isn't that bad.

  • Yeah, I guess I'm just tired of him covering every song in the same way.

The song itself doesn't sound terrible

  • I'm just tired of him covering every song;)

  • he doesn't cover every song.

  • you do know this version is about 30 or so seconds shorter?

which means its faster. he didnt make it darker either. kind of made it... fun

  • He did a fucking awesome job on this song.

  • I frinkin' love this song.

  • i want this song! o.O

  • I concur. :]

  • I actually don't think this is a bad version of this song. I don't think it's a matter of who's is better; the original is usually better when it comes to most things; and I doubt Manson is trying to "reinvent" a bowie song or "out-do" David Bowie.

I just wish Marilyn Manson wrote music that sounded more like this becuase, like I said, for what it is it's not bad.

  • Bowie is better, but great version !! :-) good

Kisses

  • I like M.Manson (pre Mechanical Animals), but Bowie is a musical genius/god and there is no comparison, in fact, Bowie > all.

  • isn't enough to self murder me....

  • it's suicide, the word u r lookin 4. anyways, manson is not enough to kill anybody at all, ain't worth it

  • better then original

  • lmfao? tool

  • im a big fan of manson

  • ditto.

  • Bowies version is better

    But manson does it brilliantly!!

    nice vid :D

  • nice video!

  • i adore tis version of bowie, simply because we do not stray far from the pack,..man,.....

  • bowie is better

  • this si a real cove r but some are fake

the like a virgin one isnt real its just by a band called incubus

  • Manson and Bowie are the best. Nothing can outbeat an original, but a cover can still be good enough if the artist knows what they are doing.

  • this cover is good but it doesnt beat Bowies and all his covers arent "the best" remember the alabama song that shit was terrible

  • well, covers r sometimes cool, rnt they? watch 4 faith n TON. this 1s cool, i dont stand dave, so this 1 worx 4 me, still some covers r better than original, like is this 1

  • well to be honest i ament a big fan of manson so i cant really judge i spose if you appreciate his style of music it would be more relevant....

  • i've been looking for this cover for a long time.

Is there anywhere I can get it album/singlewise??

  • Some of this sounds great but other parts sound laughable. Which sums up marilyn mansons career really

  • Agreed!

  • you're already dead

  • this lame attempt at something with some substance shows just how much of a hack Manson is

  • go die

  • Dear God this cover makes me wet.

What is it with Manson and good covers?

  • hahahaha he does do the best covers

  • manson does the best covers

  • Ask his ex-wife.

  • OK i will. I am a huge fan of bowie.. He's hot. I like this version of golden years. Bowie is bi and wondering if manson. not that it matters. bowie is hhhhhot!!!!!!! tho.

  • I think both of them have been somewhat opportunely bisexual; but they're for the ladies methinks.

  • its all good though hes so hot!

  • Kick ass. I'm a huge Bowie fan so this is a treat, never heard it before.

  • i forgot to ask if sb could send me the song :/

  • yeah i love the cover !

  • i'm glad marilyn manson has good taste :)

  • This version beats Bowie's and Manson's anyday: just do a search for 'Young at Heart chorus sings Golden Years'. Especially the "...aaaaaaaaaaangel" part.

  • fawk ya talkin bout epitome22, his covers are his best songs!

  • Interesting...

  • that is killer! nothin' beats manson, OR his covers!

  • although i don't like manson's music too much (but i really did like Mechanical Animals. it was genius work), i do respect Manson for being able to do such a good cover of a Bowie song. I'm one of those die-hard Bowie fans: No one beats the Bowie original, but goddang, this is good! It's really obvious Manson took a lot of inspiration from Bowie for the Mechanical Animals album, and all the better for it.

  • because it's the truth. and manson has constantly stated ziggy stardust as inspiration for the album.

  • Good version, i like him ! much rather listen to manson than all these other American fat boys with their tattoos and guitars.

  • not bad manson!

  • yeah he totally is.

  • Manson didnt do bad on this it was pretty good

  • its great, i know!

  • yea i agree with the rest..you just cant beat bowie...but he did indeed a god job on this cover, without ruining it..like all others do with other covers..

  • this is not as bad as it could have been. thank god. but david is the best ever!

  • hi simon

  • wop-wop-wop!

  • I'm a die-hard Bowie fan, don't get me wrong, but this version is actually better than the original! It's musically superior, most probably due to Jeordie White's genius. I wonder what it would sound like if we kept the music intact and replaced Brian Warner's voice with Bowie's?

  • i think manson takes the bounce out of it somewhat

  • funky goth. haha

  • my opinion, you could never beat David Bowie. its just not possible. but Marilyn Manson did a KICK-ASS cover of this song. im glad he didnt ruin it. it actually sounds bloody great!!!!

  • good job!
