i dont have an external dvd drive and i dont want to buy an external dvd drive. do you know how i can restore my asus eee pc without an external dvd drive. i tried disabling the boot drive and the other one in configurations and pressing f9 but it just loads into safe mode. and safe mode wont load
My first thoughts would be to do a search on making a USB memory stick bootable.
Copy the restore DVDs onto memory stick.
Then try a restore from memory stick rather than external DVD (remembering that the memory stick is going into the same USB port as the external DVD would).
When my computers need to be restored I don't ever use a restore cd from a manufacturer. with my hp I had to create the disks and every time I tried it failed costing me 2 blank dvds each failure so I thought F that and who needs all the bloatware crapware that comes on these things anyway may as well just use a windows disc and get all your programs that YOU want and then make a backup restore disc of that.
I did this to my eeePC a few months ago when I got a virus I couldn't shift. I was quite pleased with how it all went - all the bundled software was back and shizniz! Also had to replace the keyboard when I took it into the bath, which was also pretty straight forward and easy!
It is odd that it has no optical device yet it provides the software on a CD... lol.
when you format do you get the memory it used to have when you bought it?

@WeeEmo1 Nasty cough there Brian.
Here, take these lozenges. They come from a Genius Bar, I'm told they'll fix your problems very quickly.
