  • I remember I had a exam the Very Next day, And it was the chose of, Get some last Min revision in, And go to sleep early, Or stay up and watch Metallica. I watched metallica.

    And, Passed the test! See... Metallica Helps You learn (;

  • @firinthepig Well done ;) Keep rockin dude \m/

  • Not tight enough :(

  • Damn Hear that bas of rob it's just how it's supposed to be.

  • Damn Hear that bas of rob it's just how it's supposed to be

  • whats the song first song mettalica plays

  • thank you Metallica for a gift on my birthday! lol!

  • NICOLE ATKINS, KINGS OF LEON. AWESOME.

  • mi inspirasion de seguir tocando

  • wow cheesy metallica comes in and fucks it up

  • what a line up

  • Metallica, Kings of Leon and the first lady of France. Not a bad show

  • Robert's faces hahahah

  • sounds like in their "...And Justice for All" era

  • I'm nearly 40 and have seen them on every tour since Puppets in 86, metal bands have to communicate to one another to keep the tempo running smoothly and this is one of those examples, don't read too much into it, they're total pros and you CANNOT fault them, I think they sound a bit wimpy on some of their older tunes these days but I've got the right, I've paid for the 13 gigs+Every CD+Every Vinyl+Fan Club Memberships+Tour Merchandise+lost Relationships (Cause they like Celine Dion) blah blah

  • love this song \m/

  • That just blew me away!!! How good are they!!!!

  • carla bruni and metallica..mamma mia!!!! brrrrrr :)

  • who gives a shit if he told him to slow it down big wow there one of the best no fuck off they are the best metal band ever so come on stop whining over 1 little shity thing saying slow down.

  • I disagree he says something along the lines of 'Slow it down a bit' which is acceptable :) and everyone else who noticed it will agree with me

  • Yeah maybe so, but is it really an issue? And who really cares? If Lars was going a bit faster than usual so what. If the mighty Het has to say notch it down a bit now and again then so be it....they still rock better than most...Rock and fookin roll man \m/

  • @OMGSPLOSIONS

Yes, I do some lip-reading, and anyone can clearly make out that Hetfield does say something like this: "Slow down". Great performance, marred by poor guitar and drum sound.

  • damns thats a lot of stages

  • i love trujillo, he looks like a complete badass

  • Omg, so amazing

    I couldnt look away

  • Maybe some other people pointed this out, I didn't look through other comments.

If I'm mistaken, and I pray I am, it looks like James tells Lars to "Slow it down" at 6:04.

Oh how far the mighty Metallica have fallen if he did.

  • Try to imagine a band who plays a song and a drummer how bashes his toms too fast. Just doesn't sound good.

So there's no reason to think Metallica have fallen, if he actually did.

Speed ain't always that what makes metal.

    Think about it

  • I didn't want to say this but...

at 6:04. James tells Lars to "Slow down" but to be fair.. To be a great vocalist and a great guitarist at the same time is a huge challenge for anyone.. No matter how talented and experienced..

  • Your right he did

  • Fucken Awesome

  • Indeed :-D \m/

  • richard wright :(

  • nice rob trujillo! 1:53

  • I love Metallica and their performance at Reading 2008 was flawless in my opinion, but there are several parts in the latter half of this song that are clearly 'One' recycled.

  • Not such a bad thing that is it? To me it doesn't really sound like "One" but it's similar to it in it's structure, slow melodic build up, faster mid section, then even faster towards the end. I think it's a classic modern Metallica track.

  • I wasn't saying the whole song sounded like One, just elements of the 2nd half that sound recycled.

  • Yeah I knew what you meant mate, there are parts that sound like One, but most bands have bits in their songs that sound like stuff they've done before. I suppose you could call it recycling really like you say. Anyway, i'd rather hear this version of Metallica than that of the last album, ie - with the solos firmly back in place, and a proper drum kit rather than grandma's biscuit tins lol...BUT, I do like St Anger, just not as much as the really classic stuff.

  • Yeah, I agree, it's definitely a welcome return to form.

  • haha, grandmas biscuit tins, rofl

  • Great lyrics to this song as well, I think. Already one of my fave Tallica tracks!!

  • If there's anyone allowed to reuse their previous stuff it's Metallica. As long as they do it in an original way as they have done.

I think they tried too hard to go in a new direction I am delighted with the new stuff.

  • I completely agree with you mate, people make out Death Magnetic to be far worse than it actually is. DM is a great album, and people fail to see that strangely.

  • METALLICA = GODS OF METAL!!

  • simply awesome, i cant wait to see them in madrid the 13 th of july!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You ain't seen them for 9 years!

    Hmmmmmm!, tough luck I say!

    Try 14 years with me!

So I have 5 years to make up on you!

    \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/

  • Kick ass stuff! ... gonna see them in London twice in March 2009! ... can't wait! ... :)

  • Well aren't you the lucky bar steward, I tried to get tickets the morning they went on sale for the UK tour, I was there just after 9am online, & every ticket site I know was completely jammed up, & the one I did get through to wanted me to fookin register which I couldn't be bothered with, & it would've only wasted valuable time anyway. So, here I am still wanting to see the mighty 'Tallica boys again as I aint seen 'em for 9 years, & you have two fookin tickets, the world is totally unfair :(

  • I agree with iron lord. I hate all this '' they sold old '' bullshit. A good fucking song is a good fucking song, regardless of whether it sounds like the album before. I do admit though, his voice, prolly due to age, is a bit squeaky on the high notes!

    Metallica will always rock

    Fuck everyone else

    nuf said

  • KICK ASS.....END OF!

  • only kirk hammett can rip a rad solo and shoot you the finger at the same time. RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME !!!!!!

  • lol i used to shoot birds as a bad habit, sadly I got over it. was just in the way I picked and did power chords.

  • this rocks. ...and Lars looks more and more like Billy Crystal every day

  • AHHHHHHHH i can't wait to see them in two weeks right after my b-day

  • death magnetic is good, but does any1 think that they sort of sound like another band trying to sound like metallica?dont get me wrong i do like it,but to me,it sounds as if after saint anger, they were trying to recreate there old style so they started listening to there old records and are just trying to copy them almost.still an improvement from the dissapointing st. anger

  • To me it just sounds like a band kicking some serious arse, & I never stopped loving 'em anyway. I think Load/Re-load are great albums & have some classic songs on there. St Anger also has some great songs on it, even if they were without solos etc, but they are deffo back on classic form now. Just wish I could've got them damn gig tickets last week, GRRRRRRRRR. Would be easier taming a lion & having you let it stroke it so to speak, everyone wants a piece of the mighty 'Tallica at the moment.

  • Good performance but why is the video so choppy?

  • It is "choppy" because it's choppy, simple as that :-D This is exactly as it was when I recorded it through my USB TV dongle thingamyjig...nothing's perfect, I did my best at the time, could be interference from something when I was recording. In this technological wireless age, there's allsorts of frequencies and waves flying all around us and through us etc, so could be due to something like that.

  • hey death magnetic rocks, nuff said.

  • I like the fire that has returned in James' eyes. Gives me a good feeling even more about Death Magnetic. There dedicated again to ''Metallica'' instead of themselves.

  • legendary song

  • Fuck yeaah!

    this song rocks!!

  • Barrett song and Metallica. Class.

  • super bass line by Roberto !!!! BATTERY best Metallica Song ever

  • lol lars drums sounds good here, they use to sound bad xD and james seems to have some problem with his vocals, but good anyway as always :P

  • Awesome !! :)

    Legend !!! :)

  • love Jaymz with his "the day that never comes-ahhhh!!"

  • Damn i love james singing. His voice is so clean and inspiring.

  • james voice is getting better and better

  • i know they are playing on tv but my god they sound terrible i hope it is just the way tv studios sound

  • its because they had to cut out some parts to "fit" in to the show

  • kirk actually using his randall, how bout that!

  • considering the guy is gettting on that was awesome

  • hey guys no need to reply to my message, i found out, the tune is called cyanide! what a fkn track!

  • James has tattoos....

  • hey guys ddn't really listen to metallica much whilst growing up, in fact the jools holland performnces was the first time iv'e ever listened to a whole song. neway they are wkd and im trying to find a song they performed on jules holland show just last week is had the lyrics 'suicide im already dead' at the start of the song i think? iv'e searched but can't find it. anybody know what its called? thanks.

  • The song you mean is Cyanide, I also posted that aswell if you look in my videos. Cheers for your comment ;)

  • great performance.

  • The "This I Swear" part sounded fucking weird.

James had a bad day on vocals here, sounds very hoarse. But like someone else said, this was like the 4th night in a row, and he is getting on a bit. I think he can be let off on these types of occasions.

  • i agree this i swear is such a stupid line but the rest of the song is good

  • Kirk just gave me the finger:D

  • When I watched them on Jools Holland they played out with Sandman.

  • IMO sounds better live than on the album

  • this performance was awesome

james' voice was different but deffently not bad at all

  • majorly shortened by band at some of my fave bits at start but still love them. really technical, hard hitting song too.

only beaten by another class act im still obsessed with. the kings.

  • one of the best songs i ever heard!

  • They cut alot of the song.

  • Not really, just shortened a couple of bits due to to strict time slots on the Later show.

  • james vocal is so weird...

  • Brilliant performance.Best band on this show by far. James did sound a little hoarse in parts but they did the London gig the night before, previous night the BBC session, and prior to that the Berlin gig and in Copenhagen as well ...i bet his throat was a bit sore after all that

  • sounds a little out of tune??

  • NOPE

  • always those shortened versions on tv-_-'

  • Whenever i hear Metallica release yet another average single, i cry inside

  • Well, considering they are "average" as you say, they are doing pretty damn well in the world for themselves. Still at number TWO in the album charts here in the UK, but were number ONE, on the 14th September, which gave them only two days to sell enough to be number two.....Yes doing really well for an "average" band.

  • The whole point is they are NOT an average band, but a good one that has recently started making average shit. Metallica would get a number one album if they pissed on a fretboard. It doesnt matter how good the album is because they are so popular and well known.

  • Well, I certainly wouldn't buy an album of Metallica "pissin' on a fretboard". Metallica never stopped making fantastic music for me, they've always been the band with more balls than most to try new things and not be afraid to push out the "boundaries" as the late great Tommy Vance once said, he knew the score too.

  • GOOOOOOOOOOOOD

  • james sounds like he has a bad cold

  • I know, his vocals seemed a little poor on this particular occassion.

  • R.I.P Rick Wright :( :( and thanks to Metallica for this tribute

  • Metallica didn't actually do a tribute to Rick Wright, but they appeared on Jools Holland's "Later" show, which is a live music show with various musical bands/artists. The beginning of my video here was just some footage of Pink Floyd that they showed as a tribute to Rick. BUT, David Gilmour (Floyd guitarist) was actually on the show playing one of Rick's songs last night, which i've also uploaded. Thanks for your comment ;)

  • if you hear no bass it´s the speakers ..get yourself an subwoofer ....

  • Metallica are so much better live and put on a better show then the kings of leon would do anyday!!!!!!

  • Robby Trujillo is a legend!

  • Metallica used to be good.

  • Yeah I know, now they're AWESOME

  • PWND ^^

    They're so good...

  • i hear the bass clearly

  • its really weird how the singer hear doesnt look or sound james

  • Eh? Your comment flabbergasts me :-D

  • Think he's referring to Rick Wright.

  • James voice sounded so tired I was worry he was going to brake it in the "yes I swear" man that sounded to hard on him.

  • so similar to fade to black

  • Am I the only one who hears NO bass?!

  • yes you are...

  • Hm, I can hear it PERFECTLY. Really well played actually.

  • What is the name of the guitar James plays?

  • "ESP, Gibson" , and some others

  • if its a gibson its an Explorer if its the Esp idk

  • 7.12 kirks face. nice the wah didnt kick in. he uses it a bit much lately

  • RIP RICK :(

  • Well in fact James really didn`t hit all the high notes for example on "this I swear" right on the spot. But who cares...this is not a classical performance. THIS IS METALLICA ! And they rock whatever pitch James might sing

  • anyone know what the next single is and when its gonna air? and the next video

  • metallica sounded great!!!!! i dont get y some people say Hetfield sounds bad...hmm, then maybe its just me or something...

  • Kirk nailed the solo. Good to see him away from that bloody WAH pedal too :)

  • Aww, Kings of Leon played? sweet.

    and Metallica sounded...okay...

  • Ever so slight an understatement there re: the "ok" comment, but nevermind.

  • okay???? quit the boring repetitive indie and listen to some real music like Metallica for example.

  • Kings of leon are good

  • I Still say Kirk Hammett is better than people give him credit for...

  • RIP RICK WE love you

  • James' voice is like...gone. Sounds like he needs a few weeks off.

  • They played a massive concert the night before thats why James' vocals are a bit off. He doesn't lubricate his throat with beer anymore lol. Still an awesome performance. Can't wait til they come down under!

  • ROB is juss so cool....

    Rob supporters +1 to this!

  • i went to see them in london on the 15th and he was awesome man so much energy :D

  • i thought they played n sounded terrable there

    but eatch to there own

  • kick ass!!!

  • Im out of breath after watching it ! :|

  • they sounded FUCKING AWSOME they rocked that stage anybody that says they sucked go suck a nut u could never rock as hard as those guys did

  • I don't know what you're saying but thanks anyway ;) LOL

  • Sorry but whoever said it is right, the guitars are the slightest bit out of tune on the g string. Obviously not the bands fault though, a guitar techs i assume.

  • thanks for the video i like it but what i mostly like is that tribute to MR.Richerd wright RIP you leagend

  • Rick Wright... Legend!! R.I.P

  • the only thing that i have to be honest with is james singing, but it was cool wacthing it on tv, i only seen like two nites of it, pitty

i seen them live in august, it was fucking AMAZING

  • Richard Wright will always be remembered for his music.

Very tight performance as usual by Metallica! The new song sounds good but the bridge reminded me of some of their older songs. How long is this song? The video seems to be edited perhaps because of the time restrictions on You Tube.

  • Wow Rob's bass sounds great!

  • Great Song! five stars to them :)

  • those who claim that this isnt a good performance should go on stage , try play it themselves and give us the chance to laugh our asses off

  • oh God James sounds horrible here! His voice was horse. I saw a video of a show 2 days before this or so and he sounded much better. The rest of it sounds good.

  • His voice was not a horse at all ;) It's a punishing job being the singer in the biggest metal band on earth, sometimes you're gonna sound a bit off now and again. Some of the other recent live stuff they've done has been truly outstanding. Check out the stuff from last Sunday's gig at the BBC radio theatre in London, one word AMAZING!

  • actually the reason he cant reach those high notes is when they were recording the black album, bob rock - the producer at the time - pushed james voice into overload eventhough he had a sore throat - also hetfield claimed that he needed to rest his throat. that damaged his vocal chords and his voice, unfortunately, hasnt been the same since. just thought you'd like to know and to set the facts straight.

  • I didn't say anything about him not being able to reach the high notes. I think Hetfield has always sounded great on the Black album and beyond. I was aware he had a sore throat during the making of the Black album but i'm not sure that that did any long term damage. His voice was a bit messed up here from constant gigs night after night, there's no actual damage been done though.

  • To be honest, what he's playing isnt exactly hard when he grimaces.I think you're beingh a bit defensive in all honesty

  • Ok then, well if it's not hard then you go and join Metallica and we'll see ;) Rob even admitted in an interview I watched last night that it was hard stuff to play, so let's see you go and play it without grimacing then. And re: being defensive, I will be defensive against stupid comments yes, I have a right to if I so choose.

  • damn, i've seen so many comments by the poster.... great song!!!

  • Yes I like to respond ;) Thanks for the comment!

  • Just a thought, but it may sound out of tune because James' has a heavy pick hand, not to mention the most punishing right hand in any band. Oh yeah.

  • metallica out of tune? Ha. not likely.

the year that they played a 'surprise' set at download festival (they weren't on the bill)the sounds techs spent an hour soundchecking just the drums.

If you've ever seen them live you'll know how amazing their sound is.

  • Cheers for your comment, i've been trying to tell these idiots saying they're "out of tune" that they must be tone deaf, but there's just no reasoning with some people. Cheers! \m/

  • Love it. Love the new album. Absolutely brilliant performance. Hope they come to Italy!

  • Kirk says 'fuck you' on 07:03 to the people who say they're out of tune LOL

  • James sounds bad. Excusable though.

Yikes. THIS I SWARE!!!! *voice crack* lol

  • Thanks for the killer video... and thank you for including the Rick Wright spot... that was a very nice touch...

  • Thanks for the comment. Glad you liked it ;)

  • fucking awesome!

  • james had sorethroat

  • There was an hour long version of this show last night - did Metallica play a second song?

  • This show was on early in the week but only for half an hour, during that one they showed Metallica performing TDTNC. In Friday night's 1 hour version of the show, Metallica performed Cyanide and Enter Sandman. I do have The Sandman one too, I might upload it ??? hmmm.

  • Good man for uploadin I missed this last night thanks

  • No probs mate ;)

  • nice to see a bit of hayden panettiere at the end hah , but really good perfromance

  • I love how this video jumps about, or is that how it was edited together?

  • No there was no editing, not on my part anyway. There was a few glitches when I was recording it which made it jump, that was out of my hands though.

  • 1:52... Ouch.

Rob's face shows it all. Not a great performance. Hetfield's vocals sound really strained in the chorus and the verse sounds a bit out of tune.

  • Rob is grimacing because the bass playing in Metallica is a tough job, it's got NOTHING to do with tuning. I am sick of some of these stupid comments.

  • that outro is sick

  • ...and i thought they played brilliantly here too...for the dickheads who slag em off,I would like to see you do better!!..

  • anyone know the guitar tuning James was using here?looking at him playing, his fingers are in a different place than where they would be normally

  • faboulous!!!genius!!!!

    Thank you dude for uploading!!

  • Metallica of 2008 are really bad ass! :D
