when you've been in a car with a small engine and a turbo, lets say a turbo 4 cylinder 240 and seen how fast it can be made, then you have some idea of the potential of a forced induction m3 v8

the brakes would need upgrading along with the suspension and probably the exhaust too

most people who buy an m3 want it to go faster, handle better, everything better

Ferrari is no longer going to be offering manual transmissions from what i hear. reasons are 3 fold?

1. larger percentage of drivers want F1 trans.

2. It provides 'better' performance.

3. maintenance on an F1 is considerably more costly than manual and needs to happen roughly every 10K miles or so... revenue for Ferrari.

You don't need an M to have M performance. My car out does stock E36 M's all the time. Souping cars up is something most people do to there cars. Its personal touch, and fun.

I can't understand why people buy a car like BMW M3 and "upgrade it". BMW spent years developing a car like this with high-revving engine (8400rpm), no turbochargers, brakes that are made to work with the 4.0 V8 (420PS) and... boom! Someone poops on it: give "extra" 200HP.

So how about handling, brakes and gear? Will they continue working in harmony? No. I like good analogies, so here it is: BMW M3 is a fine wine, years of maturing and growing and, then, a man buy and put "extra" sugar on it.

I just ordered this kit, and to be honest i wasnt ready to go forced induction again on a car I own, but you honestly enjoy it so much more when it is. you do sacrifice reliability in a way, but if the kit is done right, and the suspension and brakes are upgraded, why not? everyone has a personal preference, you do have a point but in all honesty, there are no rules in the mod world.

False. It doesnt mean that when you add extra 2hp or even 200hp on your M3, everything comes useless and brakes down! Actually top speed usually doesnt increase on tuned cars much, its more about acceleration. Even the engine is great piece of art, it doesnt mean it could not be better! There are millions of reasons for why a M3 hasnt come out of product line with a supercharger: price, emission regulations, fuel consumption etc.!

However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with upgrading your car, regardless of the one you have, if it is done properly. Take HPF, for example, they take the E46 and turn it into a monster in not just a straight line but on the track as well. Driving a stock M3 is like drinking straight from the bottle, still great but this is like letting your fine wine breath properly.
