Surrealism IS a group and its ignorant to not know who established the film vocabulary that you are employing. Take it or leave it... Anyway you dont have to know who did what. There are many things that Salvador Dali did and the many other Surrealist painters that commercial film directors , art directors, ad agencies employ everyday and take it for granted everyday. But those genius artists in the early 20th century got the ball rolling. They should be just as thankful as we are to Einstein.

The only legacy Laura Dern has really left is the sad example of a high risk lifestyle through her past roles sexually, and her biggest mistake was the role she played sexually with Raul Julia who died with Aids shortly after filming with her. She is such an out spoken activist about everything that's so called wrong with the world, but she's a hypocrite because if you look at her record she's pretty sexually premiscuious.
Wow! Can't believe he's not familiar with Bunuel's work! I wonder what he'd think about it... personally, I think Un Chien Andalou and The Exterminating Angel were classic. I love his response about surrealism too, though.
I can believe he's not familiar with anyone else's work. This guy loves the sound of his own voice and having hordes of nerds praise him for whatever he farts out.
Absolutely agree, truly underated. She has a way of totally taking you into the role completley. Her work with Lynch is always great, but I think it's also down to LLynch to some degree; I notice he always gets the best out of his cast Another great performance is Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive; love her or not, she is superb in it
When I saw him do a Q&A after the film in L.A, someone asked what the first thing he shot was, and he didn't want to say because it would influence the viewing of the film. So he avoided that question. But here they say straight up "We started with the monologue."
