If you were looking for a flat frequency response, you could have bought the BX5A, which is the previous model of this speaker. Fabulous sound and they cost $150. The difference is just that the D2 is newer and is made out of higher quality materials.

Using them as speakers? You wasted your money man. You have many speakers that sound really good for 90's hip hop that are far far cheaper. Studio monitors's main purpose it to give you a true flat frequency response and are much more robust than regular speaker. Hence the high price point. If anything the most drastic drop in quality will be because you are using a stock sound card from your laptop.

@TejasM14 I did not waste my money i am super happy with these speakers i specifically wanted studio monitors because of the sound that they provide that no regular 90 dollar speaker can produce.plus i have a audio interface now and they sound even better why would i buy an old model if i can afford the newer ones????

Yo I got these for 280 including tax.....On the M-audio website they got them for $400....fuck that I saved $120. But I don't got my interface yet, so I only plug one of them into my Macbook PRO, AND THAT SHIT KNOCKS. Just one of them is on, and I was hyped...Can't wait til I get my shit up...

@KennyBfromQueens doesn't matter as long as you have trs or xlr outputs it can get really crazy and confusing with interfaces if you are just gonna use it to listen to music it doesn't matter if you get a cheap one. but i also think you can get one with rya outputs and buy a rya to trs cable not really sure. and by type u mean that right.

@MrCrazyGuy24 not at all all powered speakers heat up because they're powered but i turn mines up loud for a long period of time and they yet to overheat these speakers are tested against it

Is the sound quality better with a audio interface?

@KrisN96 yes it is is a better sound card basically plus it is recommended that you power them through an audio interface but some people I've read stick with the cables.

@rappinp imaging is great umm i can't really tell u if theres a big difference because i herd them briefly the first ones from my friend i did not own the first ones.
