  • I have this knife too and i have no issues with it

  • that was the best knife review I ever seen on you tube...straight to the point no bull...plus you showed it in ation...great power point!...I subbed!

  • Mine is the older one and was made in the USA, I love it. I am a welder by trade and it gets a real work out, better then an 80 dollar leatherman as a wire cutter and the blade locks are wonderful. I have had mine for over 5 years of heavy everyday use.

  • Hey Sootch! Just received Frank's Bowie...I'm speachless!!! Thanks for the multitool review!

    D==Dallas, tX

  • I have the same kind of mutitool

  • another BIG plus, that i'm not sure was mentioned here, is that the 2 main blades have thumb studs for single handed deployment. just picked it up today. by far the best multi-tool under $30.

  • Just got it today, Im already in love :D

  • nice review and demonstrations! i was gonna pick one up the other day, but for some reason, i got the vibe that it was non-locking. glad i saw this. thx!

  • Gerber slaps a Bear Grills logo on this same mt, then sells it for twice as much!

  • This is Chinese crap. I gave mine away. Better save for a lm

  • @timmietijd Love ignorant comments like this..News flash, 90% of the things you own are made in China. Everything our country sells is made somewhere in Asia, so don't be so prideful.

  • Chinese made crap.

  • i own one of these and it is a great knife, the only complaint i have is that the wire cutters dont close all the way

  • My dad just ordered this for Christmas for me. Looks amazing, I'm in boy scouts and it would fits all the purposes that I would need. Great video!

  • Great vid! really good. thx

  • Leatherman all the way.

  • My apologies. I said I paid $40. I paid $30. Wasn't impressed nonetheless.

  • Thorough review. I wasn't a fan of mine and returned it. The bad thing about Gerber is a lot of the components are now made in China and it shows in the quality. I got a $10 tool for $40. It doesn't close evenly, can opener wasn't ground correctly, wire cutters are useless, and there's a lot of slop in the entire tool. The case also wouldn't stay closed. It's not much better than the $10 Chinese tool I got at a flea market. You surely get what you pay for and these days it's not much.

  • very nice review! Thank you so much man :)

  • you show your face when all we want to see is the tool up close

  • Has anyone had their pliers brake?

  • great review !

  • Got one of these. Gave it to my wife to keep in her glovebox. I currently carry a Leatherman Blast. I prefer the blast, as it has a file, and better plier heads. But the spring loaded head of the Suspension is cool. And the accessability of the tools from the outside is nice too. I prefer the longer hollowground 420HC knife blade of the Blast over the two sheepsfoot blades of the suspension. And the fact that Leatherman is Made in America. It all comes down to personal preference though

  • thanks for the review mate, i gonna get my gerber now!.

  • anothet great video sootch !! I am going to pick this tool up.

  • i love this thing, great multi tool. im so glad ive got a multi with a saw now.

  • I'm thinking about getting one of these. Is the G.Suspension pretty much guaranteed to be made in the USA? was thinking about getting one on off the bay. I bought a Gerber saw once that was made in China, was a real POS, lasted about an hour before the plastic lock gave out.

  • @TyrantsAREhere or off of ebay rather.

  • How easy is the saw to use

  • really good review my man. the added footage helps give a better idea of the functions of the multi tool.

  • I just got it as an enlistment gift, I'm used to Leatherman Blast so the lock system felt a little awkward at first but when you get used to it it's fairly comfortable.

  • I have owned a Gerber Shortcut for a couple years carried every day and used frequently. Last night I picked up a Gerber suspension based on my experience with the shortcut and other Gerber knives, quality control has gone WAY DOWN. My previous Gerber knives all came razor sharp, the two blades on the suspension are extremely dull, the can opener and scissors have no edge at all (and by that I mean flat). My opinion of Gerber just followed Buck right down the drain.

  • I hate your vids they suck!!!!!!! Im just playing man your vids are great!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work!

  • Is it made in Finland like some of their other high end tools or somewhere else?

  • i have had this tool for a while and its a good thing to have with me when i go somewhere

  • The guy in the movie 127 hours used this

  • Hi I think the first part of the Bottle openner you talked about is really a can openner.

Try it. like a P-38. Cool Video.

  • Got my first multi tool today. Its from a company called "DURATEST"

  • I wanted this for Christmas but my wife didnt get it for me :(

Then today I got it for Valentines day!

  • i have the same tool and its done ok for my needs but the very tip of the blade broke and i had to have mine replaced because i was tightening a nut and ther pliers broke at the joint, the only other issue is tht they need a better sheath, i carried mine horizontally on my belt and one of the loops broke

  • Perfectly informative. Exactly what a person contemplating the purchase of a product needs. Thank you.

  • good video

  • good video

  • good video!!! want more

  • needs a file.

  • Gerber was legendary before Fiskars bought it in 1987. Fiskars shifted the focus to low end tools made abroad. It's basically impossible to manufacture a multitool like the Suspension in the US and sell it for $25. I have no problem with imported tools, as long as they're not represented as US made.

  • thanks for the review sootch I bought myself one tonight and I love it already. Thanks again.

  • Good info. This has some unique features that make me want to actually buy a multi tool.

  • Sootch are they still in good shape I heard they have a issue with breaking under pressure

  • It's not a double bottle opener the one in top is clearly the can opener

  • 4:19 cutting limbs i was really freaked out until 4:29

  • @sootch00 where did Wraith99 say to oil the tool? What spring is he talking about?

  • @ShadowRatchet6 the one that locks up the multi tool parts

  • really love this tool. . .picked it up for about $25 a couple years back.

  • @Wraith99 where do u oil it? inside where the pliers joint is or the joints for all the tools? which spring?

  • @sootch00 where did u buy it because there are some china made ones that arent as good as the taiwanese ones. gerber changed production so theyre not as sharp, like yoggers56 said

  • Cabela's has this for $19.99 right now online - that's 50% off. Shows a backorder online, but the Wisconsin store has tons of them in stock. Thanks Sootch!

  • I like this type of review with little demonstrations of the tools rather than simply talking about it,wish there were more reviews like this.Helped me decide to go get one of these myself and for the most part it's been pretty good. However I had to send the tool back to Gerber because the washers on the tool popped out occasionally whenever I opened and closed a tool.Anyone else have this problem?

  • Gerber may be a Portland company, but............the box says:

    "PLIERS MADE IN TAIWAN

HANDLES, TOOLS & SHEATH MADE IN CHINA"

I would be willing to pay a few dollars more for this to be made in the USA.

    Good video, however; well-described features.

  • Great video. Im ordering mine right now.

  • fajne kupie sobie na siwięta :D

  • I just got one myself, and it was what I would consider utility sharp, but it wasn't how I like it. It looked and felt like the ground the bevel for the edge and didn't refine the edge at all. It was rough and unfinished. It was done well enough to where it took very little to touch it up and hone the blade to where it is shaving sharp so for $30 it's no big deal. I also had to remove the bur on back of the serrated edge. Thanks for the vid, it helped me decide to get one and so far I love it!

  • Great review Mr Sootch! I have a new item for my xmas list. Keep up the good work!

  • do that multitool is good for a first use with a multitool ? (Sorry for my bad language i'm french)

  • There is know need to throw your money away owning a leatherman. I own this knife and love it. Great multi tool great price.

  • sootch00, excellent review if the Gerber suspension. It is indeed an excellent multi-tool. I have given it as a gift to several relatives and friends. Everyone loves it. People get the "cheap ones" and are disappointed. This knife is a terrific value and just plain works. Great stuff sootch. Keep up the good work. TNP for life.

  • The saw is good for cuttin´ limbs ??? Anyway good review. Just bought one, but not to saw off limbs...

  • @Coldane he means tree limbs but im sure it would work

  • Thank you for this review. I might buy this one.

  • I have this tool works great! Used it on fixing a fence and sawing 1inch thick tough vines.great pliers and the saw kicks butt!

  • Nice review, I love how you demonstrate everything.

  • hey whats up weaponfreak6244 here i have the same mulit tool that is the best one i got mine last cristmas by my uncle and i really use it alot and that is the best multi tool i have ever used i really enjoy it

  • I just got my own and like it very much, thanks for the great review.

  • Great review and tool.

  • this beats a TNP review anyday but your part of the tnp so i guess i spoke to soon

  • Good review. I like how you demonstrated each tool.

  • How is your sheath holding up? The vertical loop (the one I always use) on my Evo's sheath looks like it might start ripping out soon!

  • @contrabassbob Yeah, the sheath is not so great. I have the Suspension in my Maxpedition Fatboy.

  • Great review!!! A+

  • i dont think that is a awl...... its a mini screwdriver......

  • This is the best multi tool I have ever owned. Good value for sure! Very happy with mine. Interesting facts and good demonstrations Sootch.

  • great tool, so reliable i trust it in my urban survival kit.

  • What camera do you use? Also does nutnfancy have this MT as well

  • i had one but i went to use the pliers to turn a bolt and snapped part of the jaws off

  • I bought one of these on after Christmas clearance at my local Target a couple years ago in the low $20's. It works great, has been my only EDC multi tool since then. I miss my Leatherman Charge TI (Lost it). With this tool, even if I loose it, I won't be out much money. I LOVE the horizontal carry on the sheath. I often wear an over size shirt to carry concealed, the horizontal carry means I don't have to lift my shirt as high to get the multi tool out. So less risk of showing my gun.

  • I got the same one & I like it : )

  • Sootch, great review. I've owned two of these things (dropped the first one in the lake) and have edc'd them for 2 years. As long as you keep them oiled the springs will be fine. MY biggest issue is the sheath. After awhile I noticed while trying to deploy it from the sheath the little switches that lock the blades in place would snag on the sheath, causing me to have to use two hands to jiggle it loose. Also tearing the sheath up....I'm trying to find a new sheath for it...possibly Maxpedition?

  • I know guys and gals who look up this video will be looking for a high value multi-tool. I was one of them not too long ago. Good to know it lives up to my expectations. Another great value is a Lowe's brand (AKA Kobalt) multi-tool. For $15 it's also spring loaded, and it's completely user serviceable. I only wish it had the tools available from the closed position. But for the price I paid, I really can't complain. Great review sootch!

  • Ive had one of these for a year. I much prefer the Leatherman Blast I picked up recently, it just feels higher quality, and it isnt too pricey either.

  • Great review...now I have to go buy one; I've always liked Gerber products.

  • There is something seriously wrong with the UK if you can't carry a gerber multi tool.

  • there is an older model called the METHOD, which has the same tool and lock design. its bascially exactly the same minus the scales. i have had it for over 5 years now. it has never failed me. and i have beat the SHIT out of it. i mean...totally thrashed it. the finish hasnt even taken a beating really. and its more comfortable than most of the budget leathermans. the spring loaded action is awesome aswell. definitely worth the money.

  • Good review.I just bought one last night after watching.I like it.

  • The USCG issued one to me. Good thing cuz it has save my life twice. once after sliding off the road in a snow storm in Michigan and another time on board the CGC Mackinaw (wagb83) after having my glove and sleeve get caught on a burr from a steel mooring cable. Still have it, still trust it, still use it. Its a great tool!

  • looks a great tool and gerber's are great value but that model is illegal to carry in the uk, at least you guys can enjoy !

  • @MrPlopfest I got one from a uk website and it didn't say anything about it being illegal to carry.

  • @Dave54600 yes m8 any blade that locks is illegal, I have a gerber knife 2 inch blade i carnt carry that, after i bought it found out it locks I ended up buying a gerber clutch as the blade does not lock

  • I have 2 of them and it is defintely a great tool!

  • I have owned one for a year and love it. I will give you one word of advice. Oil the spring inside the tool! Mine rusted and now the blades are a real pain to get out. It is still functional but something to be aware of.

  • @Wraith99 Thanks for the heads-up. I'll oil mine now : )

  • Great editing job on this review bud. I really like how you'd cut to demonstrating each tool in use as they were discussed. Very informative. Thanks!

  • Good review. Editing used to great effect (shows how the tools work). Excellent that you named competitors, wish you would have said which multi-tools you currently own this is similar to and why you prefer Gerber (or not). These are intelligent reviews made for the common man. Wish you also told us about the notch on the scissors - it's a tool too! THANKS!!! :o)

  • Very good and thorough review, sootch. I like how you include video of what you just explained, such as the scissors and saw, etc.

  • Great! A new camera! Looks better to me; more detail etc.. And a cool tool!

  • Sootch,

Great video, loved the inserted video demo bits....... it'd be helpful if you gave the price range too. Happy Memorial Day to you.

  • That is crazy. I just ordered a gerber off the net, except it wasn't a multi tool, two seperate tools, a pocket knife and spring pliers :P

  • I really enjoy your videos.

Thank you for awesome work and efforts!

  • Thanks for an excellent review! A nice multi-tool at an affordable price. Thanks to this video, I just ordered one - $30 & change from Amazon... Free shipping. Please keep the fun, informative videos coming!

  • this the same tool the give to buyers of optics and such on optics planet?

  • Sootch, I always loved your vids. Still do.......But with all do respect, you seem to be trying to go a different direction. IE Over-Extending yourself.(youtube Superstar) I love you. Nutinfancy is a dueche' (I hope I spelled it right never used one)). I know and understand you are good man. Just a simple observation. Oh yea and a Opinion. Your shooting vids might not help pay the bills, BUT they were a whole lot more entertaining. PS your better than Nutin'.....

  • NICE!!! I bought this tool a month ago and it's been great. I bought it from Cabelas when they had it on sale for $25 I believe.

  • One huge problem with this tool, when using the pliers, the handles are too far apart. Btw, try the can openner, it really sucks. The rest of the tool is good for the money. BTW I don't think this tool is not made in the US, most of what Gerber makes is made in China not their Portland OR site. I hate the Gerber never tells you what steel they use. Basically, this is the first vid you made where I did not agree :) but 1 out of 134 ain't bad!!! Still like and $ love :)

  • This has been my "range bag" multitool for years and has never let me (or my friends) down. BTW, you can get the optional socket set that goes with this for about $15 shipped from amazon or ebay. Just be aware that they fit a little loose, but are still quite functional. Also, the socket set comes with a new carry case. Unfortunately, it won't fit both the suspension & the socket set at the same time. Silly, but hey it's cheap.

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • a lot better than mine

  • you do have some beach hair! I have one of the tools as well, in my EDC bag. Changes in Lattitude, changes in attitude. - JB

  • nice!

  • I bought one lastnight! Love it!!!

  • looks like that sheath would mount vertically on my monsoon with a molle strap

  • oooo man. that blade snaping back on you on your fingers... know all about it :p

damn no fun. defnitly wen you scharpend it razer scharp just befour.

  • Gerber is great!

  • loved your review

  • I have used this same multi tool for several years. Very high value.

  • Got one of these a couple of weeks ago and I love it.

  • Cool review, I like the locks, I can't even count how many time I have cut myself really deep because my knife closed on me.

And the blade sure looked sharp enough to skin a squirrel, or field dress a deer.

  • Having the open design on the handles, do you feel it collects more debris versus the closed handles. Thanks for all the great vids.

  • and i live in Oregon, soo, i'm supporting local business!!

  • you're the man sootch! i bought this for my friend last christmas. he's not a mt person, but he loves it. i use it sometimes to adjust my longboard trucks when we're skateboarding down the soapbox track.

  • Bought some of these a couple of years ago. There are a couple of issues. The scissors on two have had the spring "jump the groove," making them not open automatically. Cutting is therefore a pain.

The saw is pretty short, but the teeth are very aggressive and work well.

Put paracord though the lanyard, & the scissors rub against it, eventually wearing into the cord.

We are satisfied with the overall feel and quality of the various components especially for only $25 / each.

  • I bought 1 about 1 & 1/2 yrs ago & it's a decent buy for the money. The only things I don't like about it are that it's a little heavy and a little bulky for an edc in my opinion. I also had to reinforce the stitching on the sheath after only a few months of use and of course, the least desirable factor is that it's made in China! I switched back to my Leatherman for every day use but I still keep this one pretty handy. It does have a decent assortment of very functional and practical tools.

  • Got one Love it

  • hey sootch00. this "new style of production" vid that you made is much better. eg. showing all the features of the tool. and a better camera. your really taking it to the next level. your awesome!

    ~barnettzack

  • The new camera looks great!

  • looks cool man whats the price point

  • I'm new to your vids, and all I can say about your work is "great job"!! Great review here, thank you!

  • I returned my gerber as soon as I found that the knives, saw etc are too small. Also the thumb studs is poorly made. I bought a $15 kobalt multi tool at lowes instead.

  • Good choice sootch,I've had mine for over 2 years now,it's been on several jobs with me and it was even ran over by a tractor once but it's still holding up good.

  • i have several leathermans... i think there the best in the market... gerbers not bad though

  • good video sootch keep up the great work

  • Gerber ROCKS!

    Thumbs Up!!

  • i have one similar to this that came in a set...mine dont have the cutouts at the sides

  • I bought 2 of these at Christmas for $20 a piece and use 1 of them at work. It gets fairly heavy use almost daily. The only thing is, one of them came with a sheath that was slightly smaller and the locks caught up on it all the time. The pliers have locked up on me once, but every mt I have owned has done that. My reg blade came very sharp from the factory and still doesn't need any work. With Kershaw and Leatherman also being made in the Portland area I have no problem buying local lol.

  • Great review. I purchased one of these about 6 months ago and love it. A little big for edc for myself, so I have switched out with a leatherman juice. But, I still use this camping and keep it with that gear. It would be my favorite if it wasn't for the size. Those spring loaded pliers are the best. Thanks for the great vids sootch, and take care.

  • these look nice. good review. I liked the transition to seeing it in action in the middle of the tabletop. Thanks Sootch.

  • Your videos are the best Sootch00! You are a good guy. I am afraid to go to the beach these days due to oil poisoning. How about a video on the Swiss K-31 rifle?

  • i got this one its a good multi tool only cost like 32 dollars at dicks sporting goods

  • I bought a bunch of these as gifts this past Christmas....Academy had them for 30.oo and they came with a matching Gerber knife.....Im happy with mine.

  • I love your videos but did you feel ok during this one. You seem a little .....not right

  • @theknob1 Maybe it's the new Camera.... also just got back from the beach and wish I was still there : ) Thanks~

  • @sootch00 or maybe nutnfancy bitched at you for doing a reveiw on it and not a leatherman...lol

  • Anyone else notice the Become.com sub search menu ad. showing over priced Gerber's?

  • is this a new camera?

  • @BlackHeartModer Yes, this is my first video with the new camera and it's a world of difference. Unfortunately, I was looking at the preview screen instead of into the camera. Lol! Thanks~

  • @sootch00 You should find some good rendering settings to make it HD.

  • I've got one of those. :-)

  • Cool

  • Sootch00, another great vid, I have been looking for a good multi-tool for my EDC bad I carry in my truck. Keep the vids coming.
